One of the Houston area's newest courses, Cypress Lakes Golf Club was designed by Jim Fazio, who carved the course out of the thick pine trees and used a significant number of lakes and bunkers to spice up this mounded track. Four sets of tees provide options ranging from 5,351 yards to 7,024 yards at the tips. In addition to the layout, the experience at Cypress Lakes is enhanced by the impressive driving range, which is complete with target greens guarded by bunkers -- an unusual look for a basic driving range.

Saturday at cyoress lakes
The greens were in great shape, the bunkers were very well maintained with sold white sand. The only improvements needed were the fairways.
Good course, smooth greens, good value
The course was in good condition as it is most of the time. The pace was slow due to a two foursomes up ahead that were having a good time (yay!) but at the detriment of everyone behind them (very slow). The Marshall was no where to be seen, so that was disappointing because we were waiting a lot.
Always a great place to play
The only complaint I have is no cart girls coming by and no hard alcohol. Other than that it's an absolute great place to play
There were birdies out there
Very satisfying day out there at Cypress Lajkes. The greens were for the most part excellent with the expected exception of the 9th which continues to recover from the devastating freeze of Feb ‘21. It’s been resoidded from the practice green, aerated and fertilized and is a bit bumpy but better than a lot of area courses. Then there was that birdie chip on 17.
Got bumped from my prepaid tee time
I had a prepaid tee time purchased a week in advance and was pushed back when the lying b______ in the threesome I was supposed to be playing with claimed he had booked a foursome and raised cane to get his buddy who had just walked up into the same group. The starter even admitted to me the guy was a liar. Poor form Cypress Lakes.
great pace today
pace of play was very good today. course in good shape, especially the greens.
Good greens, fun layout, terrible value
The course is in terrible shape, I’d be frustrated paying $45 to play here let alone $90 on the weekend. Fairways and aprons are so firm and grass is so thin that it’s like hitting of hard pan. The tee boxes were okay, but not great either. The shining star of the course were the greens which clearly have been getting the only attention. They were fast and smooth.
Overall, I probably won’t be playing here again until conditions improve, was really disappointed with the quality of the course for how much I payed.
The fairways have no grass on them. The greens were like putting on cement
First Time Cypress Lake
Had one of the very last tee times on Sunday. Golf shop and grill very hospitable. Golf facilities up to par. A tournament was ending so golfers coming off course. First time playing course. Somewhat tight course with some water and bunkers coming into play. Greens in good condition and ran very fast. Ended play early due to nightfall.
Need a starter
I love the course and layout… some of the fastest greens around imo. But geez… they need a starter. Tee times are every 10 mins, not every 2 minutes. People just run over to 1 or 10 and just go. Bottles up with a bunch of old cats taking 6 practice swings and dropping 2 balls down when their first one is in someone’s backyard. No one manages the pace of play and it’s horrendous at Cy Lakes. So beware!
Good course with a lot of water
We decided to play on one of the windiest days of the year and it made for a very challenging round. The course was in good condition and the greens were fast considering a brief rain before we tee'd off.
I'd recommend playing the course if your ball doesn't find the water as often as mine did.
Bring A Game
Nice course. Conditions were good enough. Grass in fairways were thin and patchy. Greens were excellent and quick. Layout was a little tricked up and hard rolling fairways made it even more so. Don’t be afraid to hit 3W. It’s got LAKES in the name for a reason. They’re in play every where on 75% of the holes. Bring A game or hazards and big fast greens will add up shots fast. Little pricey for what you get but I’ll be back.
Good round, but...
No course marshals to be found and one group (5-some) was holding up the entire back nine in a big way. Needed marshal to speed things up or direct group to let others play through. We skipped a hole to get past them and didn't come across another group until the very end of the round. We definitely would not have finished the round had we stayed behind that group.
Nice day crush
I was rather surprised to see so many foursomes in the middle of the week. Weather was great so that might be part of the story. Greens were quick and hard to get used to. Practice green had no holes, just above ground targets. I like the option of moving up from the middle to the forward tees.
Cypress Lakes
This course is a hidden gem as far as I’m concerned. Greens will challenge anyone.
