One of the Houston area's newest courses, Cypress Lakes Golf Club was designed by Jim Fazio, who carved the course out of the thick pine trees and used a significant number of lakes and bunkers to spice up this mounded track. Four sets of tees provide options ranging from 5,351 yards to 7,024 yards at the tips. In addition to the layout, the experience at Cypress Lakes is enhanced by the impressive driving range, which is complete with target greens guarded by bunkers -- an unusual look for a basic driving range.

As good as I remembered, still recovering from the winter storm
Played this course many times over the span of the last 10 years, haven’t played in the past 4 years though. Relatively to cypress courses, they’re doing fairly well. However greens are still recovering from the deep freeze. Don’t let that fool you because they’re still fast, just has some crab grass, dry and dead spots on some holes more than others. Fairways were solid, but not peak. No issues with tee boxes or bunkers.
Only complaint is the pace of play. I was paired with a nice mother and son newer to golf (good for them for joining the game) but I’m a 10 handicap. Luckily after the first hole they let me just play ahead, but then I caught up to the group in front of me on the back 9 and was waiting on every shot by hole 16 on groups I didn’t even recognize. Not sure if they just jumped on the back nine, or we were playing fast but it was frustrating to have played the entire previous hole and have the two-some ahead JUST finish teeing off. I understand it’s not possible to have a marshal on weekdays but something has to be done to make sure pace is being kept.
Excellent layout.
Tee to green was in great condition. The course held up well after the hard freeze. This is a top 10 course in Houston.
Just a good time
This is good course with a mix of tough and easy holes for the everyday players. Enjoy playing here and will play it again..
One of my favorite courses!
I played this last Sunday and had a good time. Pace of play was a little slow but they did have a big tournament that morning. Course is in great shape and the greens are moving pretty fast. Will definitely play again. Great value as well
Slow pace of play - elderly players hitting multiple balls with no Marshall to speed play
Course was fair condition for winter - greens smooth and good but fairway very little grass!!
Balmy day at Cypress Lakes
Played my round in just over three and a half hours in a twosome with twosomes ahead and behind. Never had to wait more than a couple of minutes between shots. Greens were lightning fast. This is a tough course from the 6500 yd white tees in a moderate wind. Being a senior I find #15 most challenging at 433 yards a par 4 with a trap guarding the left front of the green.
