One of the Houston area's newest courses, Cypress Lakes Golf Club was designed by Jim Fazio, who carved the course out of the thick pine trees and used a significant number of lakes and bunkers to spice up this mounded track. Four sets of tees provide options ranging from 5,351 yards to 7,024 yards at the tips. In addition to the layout, the experience at Cypress Lakes is enhanced by the impressive driving range, which is complete with target greens guarded by bunkers -- an unusual look for a basic driving range.

Greens recently punched
The course is a bit dry, but it has been quite warm lately. The greens were punched on Monday so still plenty of holes not filled in. The sand was on all the greens as well and was fairly course, didn’t interfere to much with the putt other than slowing down the ball.
On a side note apparently there was a tournament today. The foursome that was in front of us was extremely slow. They never attempted to wave us through, nice golf Etiquette guys! We eventually skipped the hole the were on after waiting about ten minutes on the tee box.. Way too hot to be waiting ten minutes for you to clear the tee box.
Excellent greens
Greens are fast and always in good shape.
Even after being sanded they are in good shape to putt.
Great round on the hottest day of the year
Great course, friendly staff and pace of play was excellent. Good challenging traps and water. Trees will make you pay if you miss the fairway but it adds to the fun.
Will be back soon.

Enjoyed it!
Course was in nice shape, especially after a heavy rain and wasn't even CPO. Greens were fast and true. I'll be back!
Decent Layout
The layout was decent and pace of play was pretty good at just under 4 hours. Conditions were firm and would play again. However, I was surprised that no masks were being worn by employees and I got the general impression that social distancing was not being taken seriously despite what is going on in the city.
Fun course
Fun course, but very dry. I know it’s hot and it hasn’t rained in a while, but they need to run their irrigation. Overall good condition just needs some water.
Just plain good
Good course with a nice mix of challenging and easy holes. Good shape considering dry weather conditions. Really like this course.
Always play
I am a member of this club so I play here 99 percent of the time.
The greens are excellent. When you practice on the putting practice green the golf ball rolls the same as on the greens on the course. The course has excellent drainage and we get a lot of rain in Houston.
I have sent in several reviews. I can’t think of anything else I can add.
So this will be the last review I will send you.
Cypress lakes review
I like the course a lot. Shot my best round ever here. Sometimes gets a little pricey but not bad. The greens are always in good to great shape. Need to put a couple of bathrooms out there for the ladies. My wife is not going to use a porta pot.
Ridiculous
This used to be a decent place to play. But they are over booking and allowing walk on all over the course. The tee times are not regulated. We ended up waiting at least 5-7 min each hole. When we turn to the back nine we sat for 15 min until frustration we went to club house and was told it’s twilight skip around if you want. Things have changed for the worst and it’s not because of Covid19. Need to stick to tee time at least 10 min apart this may help. But until changes will be giving my money to different course that respects tee times.
Save your money, play a better track
Players are inhospitable, the staff let’s the course run itself, and we will not be coming back after our most recent outing.
There are 3-4 clubs in the area that are a better bang for the buck. I.E. Highmeadow and Fish Creek
Great course for the value
Good layout and fun course . Hope the greens get more true as the putting is still more sandy than real green
