One of the Houston area's newest courses, Cypress Lakes Golf Club was designed by Jim Fazio, who carved the course out of the thick pine trees and used a significant number of lakes and bunkers to spice up this mounded track. Four sets of tees provide options ranging from 5,351 yards to 7,024 yards at the tips. In addition to the layout, the experience at Cypress Lakes is enhanced by the impressive driving range, which is complete with target greens guarded by bunkers -- an unusual look for a basic driving range.

Cypress Lakes
Course was in a great shape. The weather got a little nasty with some rain and strong winds. The rain didn't last long though. I had afternoon tee time and the guy behind the cashier let me go 45 min early. I was trying to get ahead of the weather. Thanks it was very much appreciated. i joined up with a local gentleman and a someone from Austin. i had a great time.
Great course
Have played this course many times and have always enjoyed the condition it is kept in. Pace of play is great, very tough course. Bring your A game for sure.
Best in area
Best course in the area and reasonably priced. The staff is very friendly and down to earth unlike many other courses in this price range. Making this my go to course.
Only complaint is that there has not been a beverage cart both times I have played.
First timer
Very fun and the greens speed was very nice. Would have broken 90 if it wasn't for the fairway bunker and the wind 15-20 mph worth pushing my drive into it on the 18th. I think I'm going to have to go back and try again real soon. Fun and well worth the hot deal fee and then some. Only problem was pace of play. Waited 10 min on each hole to play but the three of us still managed a 4.5 hr round. Started to wear on this old body after 9 holes.
Always great shape
Nice wide open great conditioned course. If you hit decently you will have a good score. Enjoy playing here all the time when I can.
Amazing conditions after heavy rains
We played after the course received 4 inches of rain the night before. Amazingly the course was very playable. The fairways were 90% dry & the greens were in super condition. Many bunkers were water filled but that was to be expected. The course is very fair even with so many lakes. The fairways are wide with great landing areas. Great fun course & we must come back to play it in normal conditions.
Running Fast
Considering the winter we had the course is in pretty good shape, however tight lies are everywhere and the course is running fast so keep that in mind when trying to judge where to position your drives on certain holes. Greens are also very quick right now.
A pleasure to play this course,
If only or the greens the course would be worth it, every hole true and fast, very difficult but also fair. The grass is not fully grown as yet, so there were some spots that could have used some. Highly recommend the course.
Good company
Tee’d off exactly on time. Course was really starting to react to the warmer, sunny weather. While the fairways weren’t lush, they were certainly in their way. Don’t get me wrong. Had no bad lies all day. Green were great. Probably the best I have played since last summer and fast. Rolled very true. Weather was absolutely perfect, great company and fun. Will be back soon!
Great Course - a little pricey
If you're not price conscious this is the perfect course. Challenging layout, great greens, good pace of play. The staff are helpful and friendly. That said, the price of a round at peak is a little much for what's being delivered.
Not a bad course
Played a few days ago and having a hard time rembering much out the layout. That said, I do rember it being very dry, even after a lot of rain. Nice quick greens and good bunkers. Certainly worth the money and I would certainly play it again, just a little pedestrian.
Excellent condition; good variety of holes
We are Minnesota golf addicts who traveled to Houston for winter golf. This course was in far better shape than the other courses (Blackhorse, ShadowGlen) we played. It was 37 degrees, with a 15-mile hour wind, and mist, but we finished in 2.5 hours using cartpath only. (Everyone else bailed out but we're from Minnesota and were desperate for golf.) Greens were in wonderful shape, rolled true; bunkers in decent shape with some standing water from rain the day before; fairways were in good shape for the winter. Variety of holes, several with water, wide landing areas, and interesting greens and bunker arrangements. Challenging but fair course. Definitely recommend this course. Didn't use any of the amenities. Just teed off.
Nice Layout and wonderful greens
I played for the first time at this course only a few hours after some torrential rains. Cart path only, which makes sense, but was very impressed. The condition of the course, the greens were great. Would love to play this course again, but I can see how pace of play is an issue.
Slow Play
Course was in good shape, Crowded before Super Bowl. Front nine slow. Back nine brutally slow. Need to speed up play
brrrr
i love this course but weather was cool and was MLK day so very crowded. pace slow. winter golf at it's most uncomfortable. i' m hooked though. will look forward to my next round here!!!@
Fast greens, wet bunkers
Playing a round at Cypress Lakes in one of my tournament leagues. There was frost on the greens when we arrived but the forecast was sunny so knew it would not be an issue. Teed off close to on time and round was about 4 hours 5 minutes. Wasn't bad since I had my cart cover and cart heater. Overall the course is in really good shape except for the bunkers. They had standing water in lots of holes and others were washed down from the edges and sand was wet/packed.
The greens this time of year are always super fast so putting was definitely a challenge. Heard lots of comments from the group about their struggles putting.
Staff is always friendly.
I enjoyed the day at Cypress Lakes.

Hitting it decently would definitely give you a better chance at having a good score but remember you have to putt well in order score these greens are running true and fast on a hot dry day, they're probably running 10 to 11 on the stimpmeter just saying good putting is part of a well scored round..
