One of the Houston area's newest courses, Cypress Lakes Golf Club was designed by Jim Fazio, who carved the course out of the thick pine trees and used a significant number of lakes and bunkers to spice up this mounded track. Four sets of tees provide options ranging from 5,351 yards to 7,024 yards at the tips. In addition to the layout, the experience at Cypress Lakes is enhanced by the impressive driving range, which is complete with target greens guarded by bunkers -- an unusual look for a basic driving range.

Course was in great shape and the layout was top notch
Rough around the edges
Nice layout, would like to play it when grass comes in, a little bare in spots
Neighborhood kids!
Greens were firm and well manicured. The only issue was the neighborhood kids all over the course fishing, riding motorcycles, and hanging out. I was worried I was going to hit one. It was very distracting. I don't think I'll go back.
Very Good Condition
The course is in great condition for March. Fairway and green is in good condition. Will certainly play again.
Good course, good pace of play
The carts are newer. The staff was friendly. The course is in good condition. The greens rolled really well. The pace of play was great. We were spread out enough that we only had to wait to hit for about 45 seconds on 9 and about 1 minute on 18. A good course and a great value.
great greens
Greens in good shape for this early in the season. They roll very true as well and are not overly undulating like some courses in the area. Always enjoy playing Cypress Lakes.
Great condition
Being the first of March, the course was in very good shape. There weren't very many people on the course so we (twosome) got through the round in about 3 and a half hours.
Overpriced for current condition
This is one of my favorite courses to play, and the normal rate of $75 is easy to except when the course when the course is in playing shape. But I have to say my friends and I all felt the rate should match the course condition, and considering the course is not in tip top shape, they should not charge top dollar.
Right now there is no way they should charge anything more than $59 during peak hours, and if they want to charge top dollar all year around, then they need to ensure the course is in top condition all year round.
Will I play this course again, more thank likely, but unless the course in better shape, there's no way I'll pay the standard rate. With a course like Blackhorse near by charging similar rates, I'll spend my money there. If I wanted to play on a course that is less than average, I'll play Houston National or Longwood, no shade, just facts...
Blustery Day
Good golf course but too much water for me. Got into my head. It was also very windy which made it more difficult. I should have played a lot better than I did but the water got into my head early. Very nice course however and very nice staff.
Cypress Lakes
The course is very nice it just gives me too many problems which I have yet to figure out. I think the rough is a little thin would love to see it just a little higher as well as the fairway, makes it tough to hit wedges with nothing to hit off of.
Pace of play
Course is close to the house so I end up there more than I should. Always in good/great condition but the pace of play will keep me from going back.
Allows walkers which adds to the problem, multiple times I've pulled up as a single to a group still on the tee box without even a thought of allowing me to play through.
Last 10 rounds have included at least one hole omitted due to jumping groups.
Course shape
Course was in very good shape. Greens were fast the way I like them. Over all very good value. I will play again as long as they keep the rates down some.
good time
we had a great time greens were slick but in great shape they are always a test at cypress lakes
Nice place to Golf
I played here on a Hot Deal and it was well worth the $25. I really enjoyed the course and its condition. The bunkers could use some drainage help but so does every other course in Houston right now. The pro shop staff was friendly and the free range balls are a huge plus. I work in the the golf industry and see a ton of courses. I would feel comfortable recomending this course to my friends.
Fastest and truest greens in town
Despite just a touch of sand on the greens, they were fast and true. Best in town.
Great place to play
Course layout was good but they need drainage system in all bunkers
Good not great
First off the course was in great shape and I have no complaints about aspect of the course conditions. (Kudos to the Super) However there was no beverage cart, the cook had left when we made turn, and the wait was worse than the 100+ temperature. There was a foursome holding up 4 groups including my twosome. The wait was so bad we skipped putting on a par 3 just to ask to play through only to realize the group holding us up was 3 groups ahead. All in all I'd try it again to see if the pace is better.
Local favorite
Overall great place, wish I could play it more.
