One of the Houston area's newest courses, Cypress Lakes Golf Club was designed by Jim Fazio, who carved the course out of the thick pine trees and used a significant number of lakes and bunkers to spice up this mounded track. Four sets of tees provide options ranging from 5,351 yards to 7,024 yards at the tips. In addition to the layout, the experience at Cypress Lakes is enhanced by the impressive driving range, which is complete with target greens guarded by bunkers -- an unusual look for a basic driving range.

Cypress Lakes June 1 2015
Greens were a little bumpy, not the usual smooth and glass-like greens that I have been used to in prior years. That may be due to recent plugging.
Cypress Lakes is Nice
Played Cypress Lakes Golf Course for the first time. Arranged to meet some old friends in Cypress, TX that I haven't seen in a long time. The course was in very good condition considering this year has been extremely wet for the area. The greens were in good condition, but very slow since the wet weather was probably making it difficult to mow them. The front nine is a little boring in that most of the holes are just straight away. The back nine is more interesting with more variety and doglegs. Will prpbably play it again to see how it plays when it's firm and fast, plus it's convenient for my friends.
Mark,
We're honored to hear such high praise from a top 1000 contributor. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with how the greens are rolling when you make it make into town. We look forward to having you back out. Say hi when stopping by the pro shop.
Cypress Lakes
Excellent course, would deffo recommend & will play again.
Banksy,
Thanks for the recommendation. We look forward to seeing you out here again soon.
Never a 4 star course
The overall condiction of the course was poor. When I was on the green I didn't know if I should take my putter or my sand-wedge. I think maybe some staff members have thrown up a 5 star rating for the course to make it seem a lot better than it actually is . Considering cinco ranch and meadowbrook farm is classed as 3.5 stars they make this course look like a 2 star. Do yourself a favour and play ether of these courses for less or go play wildcat or blackhorse for the same amount of money . They blow this course out the water .
Kyle,
We're sorry to hear your experience wasn't what you, or we, expect it to be. We generally get pretty good feedback on the conditions of both the greens and the course. We will take your comments into consideration. Thank you for the review.
Great value
Course is excellent for the price, but the greens were recently punched and sanded so that is the only complaint.
Overall fairways were tight lies
Thought greens were dirt with a little grass. Fairways were tight lies no grass they cut everything to tight.
"Let the grass grow "
Majestic
Gorgeous Course! Lakes everywhere but very spacious!
Course in great condition
It was my first time to play this course. It is far from where I live but I will be back. Perfect weather so the course was busy for a weekday but I was still able to play 18 holes in 4 hours.
Greens were Very fast and very true. Grass is so perfect it looks more like indoor-outdoor carpet.
Bad Weather, Nice Course
The weather was cold and drizzly but the greens here were still kitchen tile fast and I couldn't make (or find) a ballmark anywhere on them.
I like this course a lot but it is definitely tough with all the water and the greens, again, are quick. I am actually very proud that I only lost 2 balls out there especially considering the conditions.
This is a course that could definitely benefit from hole artistry or a GPS system because there are several holes with either forced carry or a hidden hazard - it was ok with me because I have the amazing GolfNow App and upgraded it to include the amazing GPS (shameless plug - can I get a free round or something?) :)
Great course.
Nice Course
Beautiful day for Jan. Pace of play was great played with one of the marshals. Extremely helpful and a good golfer. The green was sprayed with something they hard and fast, but no complaints for this time of year in texas. We had sunshine and the east coast had snow, i loved it
Great greens
Fairways were dried out, but that is to be expected for the winter time. Greens were perfect. Rolling 12 or better. It was like putting on glass. Awesome!!!
Excellent Greens
Greens were in excellent condition, true and fast!
Had fun and learned some things.
Really liked layout with houses out way. Wide open but very challenging. Some elevation.Extremely challenging greens.
Good golf course
Coming from Southern California, this is a pretty different golf course in terms of green and fairway. The fairway is Bermuda grass so it is close to dormant( not completely ) so it looks kind of brown. Again, the weather is not cold enough to go completely dormant. I am not sure about the green, it is pretty fast. About as fast as my home course in Vista California, right around 11 on Stimp. But it looks really different. I am not sure what kind of grass that is. It looks like felt on pool table. Anyway, it rolls pretty well so I have no complaint. Very hard green.
Texas Treat
After playing other golf courses in the area, we thoroughly enjoyed playing on this well maintained course. Tee boxes, fairways and bunkers were in excellent condition. The greens were outstanding in speed and in character. Only complaint, no GPS and minimal signage, slowing our speed of play as first time players. Adding to this positive experience was the excellent service from courteous staff.
Great course as always
This course is always in great shape and the Staff is always friendly. Can't go wrong here
Some of the best greens in town
Greens aside, the course is just average and actually fairly straightforward. The fairways are narrow and run right next to each other on aost every hole. Not good because errant shots come from everywhere. By far one of the slowest rounds I've played to date. The staff stacked the course, case in point there was a 4 group back up on the first tee. Every hole was hit a shot and wait 10-15 mins to hit another. The pace of play take away from a decent course with really superior greens. I will not play there again for the prices they charge when you can expect a 5.5 to 6 hr round on the wknd.
Challenge on green
Very fast green. Spin does not work as I intended when the ball is landing on green. You will encounter one extras stroke putting ^^;
Great greens
Greens are fast and firm. Course is in excellent shape overall.
