One of the Houston area's newest courses, Cypress Lakes Golf Club was designed by Jim Fazio, who carved the course out of the thick pine trees and used a significant number of lakes and bunkers to spice up this mounded track. Four sets of tees provide options ranging from 5,351 yards to 7,024 yards at the tips. In addition to the layout, the experience at Cypress Lakes is enhanced by the impressive driving range, which is complete with target greens guarded by bunkers -- an unusual look for a basic driving range.

Nice Track
Utilized a GolfNow hot deal. Great price. The normal green fee (above $65 on weekends) might be a little steep for this course. The greens are generally in good shape, and this round they had just been punched. Looking forward to the trees continuing to fill out for a little summer cover.
austex
course was in good shape especially considering all the recent flood problems in houston. typical hot june day but no complaints. marshalls were friendly which always makes the day better. (bear creek marshalls could take note of this one).
all said , good price, good course, good shape.
Fun, challenging course
The course was in excellent condition and the greens rolled pure with a good speed. The bunkers were super fluffy which is always a nice surprise! The pace of play was pretty slow, but there was a family of 4 with kids in front of us so not really the golf clubs fault...
After the Flood
Carr paths only is not we golfers like to hear. It means a tedious time logging the right clubs to your ball. You estimate and try to bring the club you think you need plus one less and one more only to find out you need two less.
Course layout is challenging, well kept only issue we had was that the traps were mimi lakes. Cypress lakes begins its twiggy at 2:15 so if you don't tee off before 2:40 you probably will be waiting on every hole. We started at 2:15 and finished at 6:20 and it was cart paths only.
Great for practicing your Course Management
I had a great round and an excellent time!
The course in Cypress Lakes offers a good practice for two fundamental skills in golf:
Course Management, how do you manage the water hazards.
Putting skills with greens in great conditions there is no excuse here, it's just you against the challenge of greens.
RainCheck
Because of rain only played 8 holes but staff gave us raincheck value
Alway a good time
Could not ask for better weather. Course was in great shape, especially when considering all of the recent flooding. Only issues were with the bunkers which will be addressed by the maintenance staff as everything dries out. Greens are quick and true. I would recommend this course to anyone wanting to go play. I already have my next tee time booked. Always one of the first courses available to play after rain.
Fast round
First time playing here at the course even though I dont live far. I really enjoyed the course and the shape it was in even after all the rains in Houston. Greens were true. Fairways and tee-box were in great shape as well. Only thing - no drink/food carts on the course. Playing with another single player, finished the round in 3 hours.
Best Greens in Houston
Enough said in the title...they have the best greens in houston...fast and they roll as true as they can. Layout is pretty nice as well...only downfall no cart girl for those of us that like to booze while playing. Other than that...AMAZING course
Faster than average greens
The course has lots of water. My first time playing so I didn't play some of the water holes very smart. The course had no starter and no cart person on a Saturday, however I would play again.
Course wasn't what I'm used to seeing
I've played this course many times over the last several years and this was the worst experience I've had. The driving range was terrible. Way too much sand! The course was in pretty good shape, but the bunkers were a mess due to some recent heavy rains (better drainage needed?). The putting green was WAY faster than the actual greens. Everyone I played with commented on that. The course was very busy because of the first day of Spring Break, but there was not a "cart girl" out to serve the golfers.....and we were out there a LONG time because the pace of play was terrible. Where are the marshalls?? Very disappointing.
Excellent resilience to heavy rains
As usual, greens were in very good condition. The area experienced very heavy rains for most of the week, only stopping just over a day before the round. Nevertheless, the course drained well, and there was no problem at all in having the carts off path, which was a nice surprise! Sadly, coming in to the clubhouse, the restaurant/bar was already closed and it was before 5pm on Saturday!
Good Value
Played 1/31/16. Windy that day. Course in good conditions considering time of year. As always the greens roll fast.
good
It was a cold and windy day.
Played the blue tees. Nice layout and can be reached in two. Greens are true and fast.
Bermuda rough are still spongy but good bounce.
All par trees are 170 and up. Big green but can still one put if you have the right speed.
Drinking areas are nice and fresh, bathroom areas as well.
Can't wait to play this on spring.
The course was in great shape
Quick round on Christmas Eve course was in good condition and we had a great time!
People that are slow playing need to let others pass them
He Could Have Been More Polite
Reserved a 12:45 tee time (for four) thru GolfNow. Found out that I was going to have five players. I called the golf course the day before and received an OK for five (with the standard understanding that we would let faster groups through).
When we checked in, the guy that we dealt with needed an attitude adjustment. He took a great deal of time explaining that we should not have been allowed to play five - seemingly "blaming us" for playing five - that his "staff" should not have given us permission -- and on and on.
P.S. When we teed off, we allowed a threesome to go ahead of us -- at the turn, the same threesome asked us if we wanted to go ahead of them as we had waited a few times on them. Also, during the course of the round, we saw maybe 15-20 others on the course -- not exactly overwhelmed with play
It'll be a while before we go back -- they used to be cordial.

Consistently very good
Perhaps the best greens in town among courses open to the public. Pay attention, because three putts come easily! Course is in very good condition regardless of season.
Thank you for this great review! We are flattered to hear you think we have the best greens in town! We look forward to seeing you out on the course again soon!
It's challengable
It's first time to this south course. The distance is not so easy. It's challengable next time.
Thank you for taking time to leave this review and for coming out and playing the South Course! It can definitely be a challenge! We hope to see you out on the course again soon!
Great value
The perfect day and the price was an excellent value.
