One of the Houston area's newest courses, Cypress Lakes Golf Club was designed by Jim Fazio, who carved the course out of the thick pine trees and used a significant number of lakes and bunkers to spice up this mounded track. Four sets of tees provide options ranging from 5,351 yards to 7,024 yards at the tips. In addition to the layout, the experience at Cypress Lakes is enhanced by the impressive driving range, which is complete with target greens guarded by bunkers -- an unusual look for a basic driving range.

solid value
good course located outside Houston proper so as a commuter who works in Houston but lives in Austin sneak away factor after finished is good Course was solid .... greens smooth and speed about 9 fairway grass not plush but far from tight lie... wind as it was during my round can kick your hind quarters ....but on the other hand... prevailing south wind sets up well for most shots NO DENIM policy is stupid adds nothing to experience just irritates you .. counter help clueless and scripted but very courteous I Like the place
Value for the Money!
Overall great course for the money. Greens rolled very nice.
Great 1.5 holes!
1st hole is 328 yards and my son is about to hit and I stopped him as the people were not quite on the green yet - I said you might him them, so I drove first. He was 15 yards from front of green after his drive. The 2nd hole we are waiting to hit and the wind starts to blow real hard and clouds come in and then light rain starts and then lightning so we head for the pro shop for our very small refund. Before we get to car it is a major down pour of rain. The course is nice and the grass in the fairway is green and sweet, so better than dried out California where I recently moved from. Oh yea - lunch room has some great Johnny Football memorbilia
sandy greens
It is usually a great course. They sanded the greens and did not mention this on the website. No discount for this??
Great Sunday Deal
The Golf Now deal was great. Beautiful golf course, wide open, challenging shots into the greens and nice sand....
Pace was very slow but consistently slow. I couldn't see myself paying the normal rate regularly but I won't pass up any deals I see. It's a 35-45 dollar course, not a 55+ Dollar course.
Lakes
Water all over but not as bad as it looked. Very fun will be back soon.
Great layout
The greens are almost all the way back . Pace of play got very slow on the 15th tee. I saw three fivesomes between the 15th and 17th holes. I skipped 15,16 and 17 and played 18, otherwise, it would have been a 5 hour round. Unacceptable pace of play; especially for a Wednesday afternoon.
Slightly disappointed.
Greens could have been in better shape and definitely need beverage cart out during the week.
Greens sanded and punched
Course played fast, fairways had been punched. Greens were sanded and punched as well, was not made aware of this when booking on golfnow. Staff is awesome! Will definitely play again, course is challenging and makes you hit a variety of shots.
Nice day out
We booked through Golf Now at around $40 for a 12.30 tee time, arrived a little early and straight off. Course is a decent layout and the greens were fast despite the recent "top dressing".
On the 2nd hole I found a good few golf balls at the edge of the lake then I found out why they were there when I saw the first of two snakes - what they were I don't know but I stayed away from the water after that!!!
All in all a good day out and a very quick round of approx 3 1/2 hours
cypress Lakes Sunday afternoon
Greens had been punched & sanded recently but still rolled decently but not great. Played course before & greens where great. If I was to play again & pay there usual rate, I would wait for the greens to heal..
No Cart Service?
Aeration was done during the week but the greens putted well. No cart service for a Sunday was disappointing.
Good condition and pace of play was good
Good condition and pace of play was good. Firm, quick greens.
Fast Greens
Course in great shape considering such cold weather lately. Greens very fast and true.
Downhill All The Way
Greens were borderline ridiculous fast. Anything downhill would not stop. Several approaches initially stopped as good shots, then rolled away for long uphill puts. If greens are this fast, at least put the cup in a flatter area to give good putts a chance.
Also, fairways were pretty much hard dirt with dead grass Gives "tight lies" a whole new meaning. I know it's winter, but I expected better from a premium priced) course.
Course could use water on all fairways
Water hazards are difficult to avoid due to the way the edges of the fairways drastically slope toward the water. The tee boxes and the greens are artificially sprayed with green dye. The effect looks phony since the rest of the course has dormant brown turf. How about watering the course instead.
The best pay for play course in the area
Although it's the dead of winter, the course is in excellent condition for the season. I've also played a few other times and the course has always been in first class shape. There have been a few positive changes that have really improved the overall experience.
Some of the best greens and facilities in Houston
I have played Cypress Lakes at least 5 times and the greens are always in great shape, the course is fair in that good shots are rewarded and poor shots are not, and there is a lot of water but a good score is still very possible. Staff is always superb, food is really good, facilities are great and course never disappoints. definitely recommend it.
Challenging course
I play here on a fairly regular basis. The course is always in great condition. Not sure why but it seems like there are always 15 mph winds which add an additional challenge especially on hole into it. Front nine is slightly more difficult especially holes 2through 5. If you make it through them unscathed you can score well
