One of the Houston area's newest courses, Cypress Lakes Golf Club was designed by Jim Fazio, who carved the course out of the thick pine trees and used a significant number of lakes and bunkers to spice up this mounded track. Four sets of tees provide options ranging from 5,351 yards to 7,024 yards at the tips. In addition to the layout, the experience at Cypress Lakes is enhanced by the impressive driving range, which is complete with target greens guarded by bunkers -- an unusual look for a basic driving range.

The layout of the course is great. It has a lot of challenging holes and a few tight fairways.
If you spray the ball the course could be more difficult on some holes. I enjoy playing the course when I can. The staff is great and will answer any questions you might have. I plan on playing a lot of golf at this golf course.
Well maintained and fast greens.
The course is fun and challenging. Tee shots are fairly easy but greens are well protected and very fast. Great variety of hole layouts as well.
Overall a good experience
The greens, which are normally some of the best around, looked like they were still in the process of recovering from a verticut or something, but otherwise course was in good shape. We were playing on a Tuesday afternoon, so it was not crowded and we were able to go before our time and played in around 3 hours...good thing since it was 100*!! We played from one set of tees up from the tips, and from those tees the course is not overly difficult, but still enjoyable.
Awesome course
Nice greens awesome fairways overall and a++++++ would recommend this course to anyone
Golf coarse very nice
Coarse well maintained and staff very nice. Pace of play great, was able to play the whole round with a twosome and not wait. Beverage cart out of commision and for some reason there was only one, other than that very nice.
Great value and course near Houston
First of all, it was hot when we teed off at 3PM. I am not used to this kind of heat. It is a shame because this would be a great course to walk. The fairways were in great shape, very few divots, grass mowed tight and they were pretty wide. The first cut was about 1-2 inches, no problem. Many of the holes looked similar from the white tees but each green was very different. This course has a 126 slope rating from the whites largely because of the greens. The greens are really, really fast. Some of the greens were so fast and so sloped at the edges that the balls would not hold at all. Many of these hole placements were so steep that a two foot putt could end up 20 feet away down the green and back on to the fairway. Some of them were not very fair but don't be discouraged. This course is a blast and I highly recommend it.
Pristine conditioned course with deep white sand bunkers and great greens.
Cypress Lakes is an exceptionally conditioned course with deep white sand bunkers and exceptional greens. The course's name comes from the multiple lakes running the lengths of many holes. Though, if you hit the ball fairly straight, there is no fear. The water is really only a factor to the big slices or hooks. Otherwise, the course plays open and really gives you a feeling of freedom to bomb away. Great course!
great value
greens were sandy but still some of the best in Houston, ball rolls great. pace of play was slow but mostly due to the group in front of us not knowing how to play ready golf....normal problem for any public course. Go play it, you will enjoy.
Great course under wet conditions
Played after the course got 3-4 inches of rain the day before. Cart path only. Fairways were in great shape as well as greens like always.
Outstanding value. Excellent conditions. Outstanding staff (starter, clubhouse and cart female type person).
A great value and excellent conditions, partcularly for mid-July in the Houston area. Tee boxes, greens, bunckers and especially the fairways were all very well maintained. We had played another public course the day before and tried to hit the rough in order to find grass. Cypress Lakes had it all and an excelent staff as well. Will definately go back.
Nice ... as always
Typically, these are some the best greens in Houston. Presently, they are a tad bit thin, but well done sanding has them running quick ... with high expectations for the remainder of Summer and beyond.
great greens
great greens and course in good condition especially after rain
Pro out there (JOSE) top notch
Nice course, great pro (JOSE), overall great experience
Great course !
I played Tuesday afternoon (surprisingly) by myself in 2 1/2 hours. The greens were rolling great. They are just about all the way back to normal after aerification. The wind started kicking up due to storm activity and that really helps defend the course. This was a great value thanks to golfnow.
Greens were in good shape and very consistent
Played a quick round yesterday and really enjoyed the course. It was well maintained and challenging, but not too tough. The Marshall did a good job of keeping an eye on things and keeping things moving. Great value for the price!
No longer the best greens in NW Houston!
Greens need to grow - too much sand on greens. Challenging layout,. Pace of play tends to be slow.
Challenging course for reasonable value but needs some work on greens
I played Cypress Lakes for the first time in a while and was overall very pleased. The course tees and fairways and rough were in very good condition with good variety of holes by the greens need some attention. Their message on pro shop phone talks about their greens and even the check in guys said oourse was in great shape. But all of the green still had a lot of sand on them form aeration over a month ago. That made them quite bumpy and night very good looking.
I would wait a few more weeks before playing assuming the7/4/13y put the water to the greens and the course before the Texas summer heart burns them up.
Good valued course.
Course was in great shape even with the extreme heat we had lately. Pace of play was better than the typical public course. Greens, fairways and tee-boxes were in great shape. I will be coming back here again.
Nice course!
I had heard about the fast greens & they are fast indeed & challenging. The course is in good shape even though its almost July. I will play here again for sure.
