Bear Creek Golf Club - East Course
About
Bear Creek Golf Club's East Course is considered a tad more difficult than the West, with tighter fairways and smaller greens. Fourteen of 18 holes dogleg, so its label as a target course is accurate. Elevation changes make club selection a challenge, and the par 5s are tough to reach in two. No. 5 stands out on the front: a 385-yarder that doglegs left and involves an approach over water. No. 8 is longer (418 yards) and features water in the fairway landing area and along the right side. On the back, no. 15 is the signature, playing 432 yards and tricky because of the blind approach shot.

Beware
Went onto golf now to play that day. Didn't select a date to play as in the past, the date defaults to that day unless you select another day. Well, not so on GolfNow. I selected the course, and time, got my confirmation and went to the course. They didn't have me down on the list, so I checked my GolfNow confirmation, and it said Tuesday!!! Well the pro's in the pro shop said they could get me out about 30 minutes later, and would cancel my GolfNow reservation for Tuesday.
Then I get a notice of my upcoming tee time today! I called the course, and they had no record of me on the list today. I called Golf now, and ther was a 1 hour hold time, but allowed me to be called back. They called. When I explained what happened, they said there are no refunds unless it's weather, but would ask for approval. Well, they did give me a credit to be used in the future, but not a refund.
After I use that refund, I won't be back. Poor website design, that can easily lead to this kind of error, and with their restrictive policies, I'll pay a few dollars extra for some reasonable flexibility.
They lost this customer..... Beware you could be next
Nice Layout but NEEDS to Managed MUCH, MUCH better
Have not played at Bear Creek in many years. But this used to be one of the best daily fee courses in the metroplex.
We played the East Course. Both courses are well designed and beautiful layouts in an area near DFW airport (if you like jet airliners this is your spot!) with topography, creeks, abundant trees and wildlife. The staff is friendly and the course gets lots of play. Traps and tee boxes could use some work and concrete cart paths are in serious need of repair - lots of broken patches (many due to adjacent tree roots but many not), Our biggest issue (an immediate fix) is the complete LACK of signs to PROTECT the integrity of the course. Listen up management; 1.you need signs well in front of greens to direct carts BACK to cart paths (EVERY other course has these - why not BC?) 2. it was supposed to be a 90 degree rule today after heavy rains, where are those signs??, 3. Where is the starter? 4. Where is the marshall(s)? 4. Why let golfers bring giant coolers onto course, cant be good for the hard working cart girls or BC profiting from them selling beverages and food. Course WAS a gem, work a bit to make nice again.
Extremely slow.
There was a small tournament that went out before we started. I asked the starter if it would be a problem. He said no, because they were doing a shotgun start and play there all the time... Well it took 5 hours to play 15 holes and then at that point we just quit. Making the turn, there was a ranger there and he was no help at all. I wont be returning anytime soon.
Back in tip top shape
After recently constructions and tee trimmings, this course has sprung back to almost in its glory days. Nice fairways and greens, bunkers are well maintained. Tree trimming make this course now a lot more appealing and open but don't let that fool you, still can get into trouble if not careful off the box. Pace of play is quite slow on the weekends.
Coming along - East course
Fairways in great shape. Bunkers needs help but still have water damage from recent rains. Green were punched but seems like they are having issues growing.
Still needs work
Anxious to play after closing due to overhaul. Work ain't done with tree removal and sodding (some in middle of fairway) unfinished...Also 3 or 4 holes had temporary tee boxes on fairway...Overall, fairway turf fine and greens excellent...Be great when work is completed..Get er done!!
Course is in good shape
Good conditions BUT always slow playing here don’t expect to ever play under 4 hours here but course is in decent shape don’t play the east course though greens are trash but west course is ok
Course needs to heal after construction
The west course was shut down for about 5 months while the city put in a new sewer line for the airport. Holes 10 and 11 had all the trees on the left side of the fairways taken out and now theses two holes play very different. The biggest thing is that the ground and the grass need time to come back. This is in no way the fault of the staff or grounds crew they have done a fantastic job getting it to the point it’s at. The greens were still a little spotty but that should be solved in a few weeks. The putting green is being completely replaced so you have to practice on the chipping green but that’s no big deal. They are also re doing the front of the club house it will look fantastic when they are done
Nice course very playable little storm damage to course due to a thunderstorm that caused some playability overall worth the green fee for sure
Greens are important
Greens were rough. Water them more than the rough. You’re tee boxes need a little leveling work but fairways were great and course set up is great. Water stations were well placed and very helpful.
