Good Value fo Public Play
Course is a great layout in reasonably decent condition. Day I played it was extremely cold and windy and length from blue tees was good challenge. Not a lot of flat lies out there.
Wet Wet Wet
Course was very wet. Cart path only. Rough was grown up. Impossible to find your ball. Also using 1 temporary green. Plus greens had been aerated recently. There was no mention of any of this when booked. I am a VIP member . I was very disappointed. They also allowed a fivesome with no marshalled. Started 30 minutes late then it was a 5 hour 15 minute round
Course was in very poor condition. They did not disclose the greens were being aerated. Fairways were very wet and muddy and the rough was overgrown with lots of daisies. I would not recommend playing here during the winter months even though it was sunny today
WORST COURSE!
New to the area so playing everywhere. Grew up playing muni’s, and have a real love for them.....This course however, was the worst experience I’ve ever had. Fairways were basically the rough at 2 inches thick, the rough was easily 6 inches. Groups spent 10 minutes trying to find their tee ball on every hole. Pace of play was a joke. Tee’d off at 9am, and didn’t finish till almost 3pm. The saddest part was the course layout, which is great, but conditions and pace of play ruined the round. There is also no food on the course, or beverage cart (on a Saturday morning, sunny, and 70 degrees outside). Will never play the course again, even if give a free round!
laughable
It's been rainy, I get it. Course is going to be in rough shape. That's fine. But the greens were un-puttable on top of a temporary green on #3. Again, that's all fine, but not for $87,. Also, there's nowhere to get food on the course. No cart, nothing. $87!!?? Come on!
Poor drainage makes for slow play
I played with a foursome that started at 10:40. It had not rained for 3 days but the course was finally trying to cut some grass. The rough was 6+ inches and impossible to find balls. Round took almost 5hrs due to constant searching for balls. Cost us $55 with a cart seemed to expensive for conditions. Greens had lots of deer hoof damage and a temp green for #3.
Overall feedback
This is a good value golf course specially during twilight rate. Good layout , fantastic views , full length par 4s and 5s and well maintained greens. The only downside are the first cut grass around the greens and along the fairways. Grass is quite long with a lot of white flowering . This makes looking for the balls very challenging. 1-2 feet off the fairway or green and your ball is below the grass cutline already.
Figure it out
Booking tee times at intervals that don't ruin everyone's experience isn't hard to do. Every other course can figure it out. Chrystal Springs, for one reason or another, can't handle it. 4 groups backed up on the second tee. Completely unacceptable. And that I'd pretty much par for the proverbial course at this establishment. Which is a shame because the layout is awesome and with better management and a new clubhouse this course would be a gem.
Wet but no alligator
Half of the green was little too wet. Fairways weren't any better. It's not a good golf course to play when it's wet..
It suits my eyes.
Like this course. Friendly staffs. Clubhouse looks rundown with small restrooms. But clean. This is a busy course with a lot of locals. But they seem to know to keep up with the pace. With all foursomes in front we finish the round in 4.20 hrs. That is really good. One hour drive to this course, two hours to get back because of traffic. We didn’t mind. Will comeback again.
Great course
Great views of mountains as you see the fog in the far. Course is great nice layout.
Slow....
Purchased a Costco voucher and set up a tee time for a Saturday @ 1030. Right off the bat noticed that groups were lined up and time slots were only 5 minutes apart. The course was nice but nothing special. total time we were there was 6.5 hours and time played about 5.5 hours
Great sunrise golf session!
I see a lot of negative reviews about the pace of play. But I’d have to say the course was incredible and if you go off at sunrise like we did, the pace is super fast. We were 2 I’m a cart, and there were 2 seniors walking behind us on our tail the whole time, and the folks behind them were also cruising.
From a beauty standpoint, I’m not sure you can beat the sunrise views at this place. Deer everywhere and morning fog sitting on the mountain are hard to beat.
We did have one funny incident where one of the grounds crew was moving the hole locations. With his headphones still in, he walked up and moved the hole that my partner was putting to. No greeting, no good morning, and no acknowledgement that he literally plugged the hole that my partner had just chipped within 4 feet of. My partner pitted into his equipment with a rye smile just to prove the point. Good coaching moment for his management!
