great course, nice staff and well kept
Really fun time golfing here. Had a beautiful day too which made it better. Backed up at one section of the course for a few holes. Regulars behind us said it’s a normal thing. Would still 100% golf here again.
Fairways need work
The course is beautiful from a photography standpoint, but the fairways need a lot of work! The grass is so long on the fairways that it feels like the rough and you will lose balls and find balls in the fairway. The greens were nice. I would come back if they worked on the fairways a bit more.
Green fees to high.
Was unaware of the massive increase in green fees. Been playing this course for years and it has a great layout and staff especially bartenders are always great. $86 plus $25 for cart. Sharp Park is at most a $60 walking course. Very little money gets put into this course and that’s always been the case. Won’t be playing here until they start to charge fair green fees.
Sharp Park ?Poor man’s Pebble Beach
Great location and layout. Unfortunately the water drainage is so poor there is wet soggy fairways. They also don’t mow the fairways so it seems you hit a drive down the middle and are playing out of the rough!
Not worth the money
Cart fees $25 a person!! Sand traps were terrible.
Fair ways were wet. Greens had some sort of cancer. Tee boxes were a mess not much grass to hit off on. $111 never play again.
you are paying for the view
Course is beautiful just because of location close to the ocean and typical Californian landscape with hills on the background. Cart path in terrible shape. No starter. Ranger was circulating but only to make sure we don't drive the cart on fairways (it was cart path only). I was single player stuck behind 4 walkers...Not worth the money, kind of once and done experience.
too wet/muddy to play
Due to the weather in this area, the course becomes extremely muddy in the fall and winter, and even in the spring if there has been rain within the past one to two weeks. In addition, some areas are covered with small white flowers, making it very difficult to spot a golf ball.
Just too expensive
I really wish I could recommend this course. While conditions have been improving, the cost to play is so high for what you get. We are paying a premium for a muni course.
Yes, it’s pretty and right by the ocean but conditions are just okay for the cost you play. This course is minutes from my house yet I will drive further away for local courses. Please lower the cost to play here and I’ll be there every week.
Public mackenzie course
Its no pasatiempo but for the price with a hot deal its worth it. Greens are well kept, fairways a bit rough but not bad, tee boxes are fine sand is a bit compact but i havent played here in warmer months yet. Avoid a cart its not worth it unless you actually need it, the course is made to be easily walkable. Mix of players being a muni but never had a sour interaction and people are more than happy to let you play through.
Over priced
Someone needs to explain to the staff how daylight savings works. I played at 1:50 and got charged $86 to walk. Even with a decent pace of play I got 16 holes in until it was too dark to play. Their twilight rounds don’t start till 3pm which in that case only allows you to play 9-10 holes at the most. Been playing here for years and can’t believe what they charge now. I won’t be coming back until they charge a fair value. It’s an absolute ripoff.
Not worth the $
$80 to walk this course is wayyyyyyyy overpriced.
$50 might be too much .
Too bad the city doesn’t put a lot into this course.
