Not worth the $
$80 to walk this course is wayyyyyyyy overpriced.
$50 might be too much .
Too bad the city doesn’t put a lot into this course.
At least it is a place to play
Currently sanding the greens. Lots of temporary holes created. Tee Boxes are pretty chunky.
At least it is a place to get your on course practice in……. Be humbled !
This course is a potential gem that's in sad shape.
I've played this course at least 50 times the past 35 years. It's in a wonderful location close to the Pacific Ocean. There are no views because of a berm wall to avoid flooding. Still, it's a neglected gem. Not because of the staff and employees who try their best to maintain this historic Alister Mackenzie venue.
The course was in litigation for many years as the local environmentalists, who already were surrounded by thousand of acres of open space and wetlands, decided the course should be added. The argument was that there were 2 species in danger and needed to be protected . Of course, had the course not been built the species would never have been there in the first place.
The litigation costs , as well as the fact the City and County of San Francisco has no money to maintain the course, means the greens and tee boxes are in terrible shape. The fairways are full of very green weeds and the drainage is non-existent.
The greens fees are very reasonable .
Play the game with patience
Play was slow, I was with a group whose players could barely hit the balls, 50yards at a time. No issues there.i played my game and was happy with golf.
Good course
Second time playing at this course, walking and will come back again. I just wish the club house and bar be gets renovation as it can add to the experience.
It's a shame
Gave this place another chance. Disappointed. The city of SF should be embarrassed for the conditions. Tee boxes a mess, greens slow with some kind of flower growing that's not grass. Even when in the fairway hard to draw a good lie. Cart paths a mess. And the topper, par 3 15th has 8 foot tulles right in front of tee that blocks your view of the entire green.
$25 per person cart fee excessive. Club house a lack of maintenance nightmare.
Alister Mackenzie rolling in his grave over what they have done to this place.
Love this course!
The course was in really good shape. We enjoyed our round, and look forward to playing at SP again.
Fun Municipal Course
Course has is open layout with plenty of landings for tee shot. Fairways and greens in good order. Back nine is scenic and windy and runs closer to the ocean. There is no driving range and electric carts are $25 dollars, starter send anyone out at anytime so pace of play can slow depending on circumstances. For a municipal course, it was a great experience.
Slow Play
Great local course but 5 hours to play when you tee off at 9:40am is unacceptable.
