Rio Hondo Golf Club

Too much of waiting… can’t finish and took almost 5 hours to 15th hole on weekday.

Played here before when the pace was slower but not this day. My husband & I finished in 4 hours 20 minutes on Tuesday with two other singles who were good golfers and regulars. Proshop staff was professional & friendly.

Tricky, challenging and rewarding course, that is in great shape, and the greens are super fair and in great shape, too. The bunkers have real sand not hard packed dirt.

Five hours and 11 minutes to play 18 holes Friday with a noon tee time , teeing off at 12:25

Great course to play if you happen to get lucky on a day that it is not slow.

I come back to this course periodically. Great course layout, course conditions are good. Expect to complete a round in 4.5 - 5 hours unless you start early mornings; not completely horrible but could be improved. We’ll be back.

Rio Hondo is a nice track. Very subtle elevation changes and enough water to get your attention. The bermunda grass fairways in the winter are less forgiving, but are very playable. Overall it nice to see a public course offer something different than the run of the mill setup.

The staff in the pro shop are friendly and helpful. I'm already looking forward to playing my next round at at Rio Honda.

My nephew literally lives one block south of the course. Which I didn't realize until today. No more excuses for not playing Rio Hondo more often.

RIo Hondo is senior friendly. Even though I still can play from the blues, you can play from the tees that suit your game. Next time I'm going to may my own combo tees.

All in all, it was a fun first time playing. The course was in good condition. Tighter fairways and a decent amount of water holes. The greens were tough because of placement being on some steep slopes but next in good condition.

The round was moving slow because of the 4 some ahead of us. We were 4, myself and paired with 3 older ladies that were walking and we still waited on every hole. The group ahead of us were at least 2-3 holes behind so a Marshall would have helped. Just over 5 hours.

The breakfast

Fun & nice design for a public course, but danger for the crowded holes. Keep hear “fault” or sound of balls hit tree or landing nearby. Need hamlet next visit if I want to go back again.

It took more than 2 1/2 hour to finish 9 holes. We waited every hole. It got better towards the end but 5 1/2 hour round shouldn't be allowed.

Everytime good to play but bit busy!

Otherwise i like to play.

A challenging yet very fun track. One of the best city owned courses with consistently good conditions. Narrow fairways and well kept greens and bunkers are the highlights of Rio Hondo.
