The greens were really great, and the course had a great layout. It was much better than expected.
Santa Maria BR
I had a very enjoyable day at the golf course. I was paired with a very pleasant young man, and we had a good round. The course was in good shape and I would recommend it.
Santa Maria - Always in very good shape.
Only one hole seemed to still be effected from the recent flood otherwise the course, as always was in great shape, friendly and professional staff always willing to assist.
Great course
Santa Maria is a great course with a challenging layout. It provides great amenities for a public course and the staff is super friendly. The course is in good shape and they have really worked to create primary and secondary rough. Some greens are a little bumpy but overall the greens roll fairly well. The pace of play is usually fairly good.
Hit them straight!
This was my first time here, the course in in good shape as are the green, not fast but good.
Plenty of water but not too much in play if you go straight and know the course. I played by myself and not knowing the course offered some challenges on a day when I pulled my shots with my brand new driver. Lost ball in the water and the rough that was deep enough to swallow them...
Course in great shape
Greens were very nice, though a tad slower than in the past but still awesome compared to other local courses. Fairways in excellent shape. Going back next week!
Great design, well-maintained
I love the Robert Trent Jones design of this course, challanging from the tips but not overly so. Course has been in great condition every time I've played it, can't hardly belive it's a municipal course!
Great
Got there and was running a little late but it wasn't a problem for them. Got hit with a rain storm and played right after it passed course handled it great.
Nice Challange
This is a lovely course on the RTJ trail. A bit uptight and pricey for a public course but overall an enjoyable play.
good experience
tee'd off just past noon and the pace of play was perfect unlike other times where pace of play is usually slow

Would've loved to have known that the greens were recently aerated. That being said, it didn't affect putting to much. Couple of soggy spots here and there. Biggest complaint was the youngster at the counter talking to me like I didn't have a tee time. Finally, someone else showed him where it was.. The marshal's were VERY professional. Typically a problem for these BREC courses. They get high and mighty and start talking down to patrons, and dont understand that the public funds these courses.
Other than that, I had a very pleasant experience.
great course
I enjoy this course every time I playit
Over Crowded
It was my 1st time playing the course. Tee time was 10 minutes apart therefore we had to wait 10 minutes at every hole. Needlesstosay, we ran out out of day light along with the other 4 tee time groups. I understand the course wants to make money but the players need to enjoy their rounds for what they paid for. I thought the course could have managed how they allow groups to tee it up better to prevent the delay and frustration I experienced. My son quit playing all together after hole #10.

I wasn't going to write a review but since its been a over a year since the last I figured why not. The course is in the best shape ive seen it in the past couple years. Greens need some work but its coming out of winter so they should be fine by now. They were punched a few days before we played so as good as they possibly could have been. like the driving range. I would consider it one of the nicest in the baton rouge area. None are better within 25 miles. Spring time golf should be fun. With all the rain we have gotten lately course should be in great shape in the coming weeks. I will be playing this course along with Pelican Point in Gonzales. In the baton rouge area those are the top 2 courses. Everybody should enjoy their round.
Always an enjoyable experience.
This is the course to which all local courses are compared. For a municipal course, the quality is unrivaled. The greens are well manicured and true. The landscape alone is worth the greens fee. The staff, for the most part, is always very friendly. From the guys in the pro shop, to the Marshall - Mr. Les (whose generous advice saved me a few strokes that day), their love for the game is evident. I must have caught the snack bar attendant on a bad day, so I'll give her a mulligan.(Smile, darlin', it goes a long way) Whenever I'm asked by one of my many out-of-town guests, I always recommend this course and will continue to call it my favorite.
Course has fallen off a ton
First time I played out here in several years and the course seems to be slipping quite a bit. It used to be very well maintained and was one of the nicer courses BREC has to offer.
Now, the service is mediocre, at best, and the course itself is in need of some care (lots of dead areas, especially in the fairways, even though its not cold enough for that yet). The guy I played with was in from out of town and had to rent clubs - the set they gave him wasn't even complete. No putter and no iron under a 6, only a couple of poor excuses for a hybrid (he didn't think to check until we were underway and needed a 5 iron). Upon our return to the clubhouse, we communicated this to the guy behind the counter. His response was something along the lines of, "Oh well, it could've been worse. It's not really that big a deal. Maybe you should bring your own clubs next time." Wow.
On top of it all, our cart was dysfunctional throughout the round and barely got us back (though admittedly, that could've just been bad luck). We could have returned it, of course, but that would've meant interrupting the round and screwing up the flow of the golfers behind us. Overall we left very unimpressed and disappointed in what used to be a pretty nice course. It's much more comparable to Webb and City Park now than it is to Beaver Creek and Copper Mill. A shame.
Course was fun to play.
My son and I havent played in awhile. We chose the right place to get together again. Great course in good shape, staff was friendly. Will be back for sure. We had a wonderful time.
Nice course on a beautiful day
Course was 90 degree because they had seeded fairways which will be great for later.....same for tee boxes.....didn't create any issues...property was well maintained, including club house and bathrooms......staff friendly ....will be back
Nice Course, some risk and reward holes, overall, enjoyed
Overall, was a nice course, the greens were fast that day, but ran true. Nice golf course.
