#9 green, right in front of the clubhouse was by far the best conditioned of the day! Photo submitted by u547358672 on 03/15/2023

Don't expect a Rain Check when it starts raining
Good course.
Not much of that "Country Club" atmosphere - but
on a day the temps went down 30 degrees with moderate levels of rain. No Rain check was issued when asked.
Good course but that was the last time I will play. The young man at the club mentioned that there was no lighting reported so the course "remained open" It was brutal.
Winter Golf Conditions
Grey Rock is always fun and challenging, I thought I would give an update on the conditions. Fairways and rough did not have much grass on them so it was tough making sure to really hit down on everything, also balls rolled forever, I hit a 2 hybrid about 330 yards on 18th, had a wedge into the par 5 2nd, etc. If you hit it offline there is nothing really to stop it. Greens were really fast, nice but just extremely fast and hard (couldn't find ball marks). Bunkers were the problem, wayyyy too much sand, I assume they loaded them up for the rest of the summer but it was difficult. Otherwise great course, great greens, no grass in fairways, not bad conditions considering our weather lately. Will be back.
awesome Course
This is my favorite course in Austin. They course layout is great and the course is in great condition. The greens are outstanding.
great condition for the winter
The course was in great shape, especially for the winter. Greens rolled well and bunkers were fluffy.
Grey Rock Rocks!
One of the most enjoyable rounds in years!
Shot an 84 which is really good for me.
Course in perfect condition.
A links player's delight.
Sand traps were perfect. Nice white fluffy sand.
Best course in Austin
Best course in Austin great value frendliness, experience, practice facilities and conditions
Great winter golf
Played on a cold dreary day and had the course to ourselves. I like this course, one of my favorite in Austin. Even a better experience when you get a good deal through Golf Now!
GreyRock
played on a somewhat cold and breezy day, course was pretty empty, so pace of play was never an issue, greens were in good shape for winter golf, course walks very easily
Not worth the money
For the price they are asking, it's just not worth it. There are other courses that are a better value. Don't get me wrong the course is nice but I believe there are other courses that are better and not as pricey such as Plum Creek or Star Ranch. One major flaw is the lack of coolers....even city courses have coolers.
Fairways, sand traps, and greens all in great shape.
Played Monday, Dec 2, 10:30 to 2:30. Weather great. I am 73 and was recovering from a cold. Had a great time but didn't play very well.
NIce course, challenging par 4's
Had a great day at Grey Rock..sunny & 80's ...not my score.
Many challenging holes with fairway bunkers and water...
Great layout with manageable holes.
I would recommend trying this course to all levels.
Great South Austin Course
For those of us that live in South Austin we have limited options for golf. Sure there is Onion Creek if you can get it on this site or go out towards the lake, but that is a long drive. I have been playing this course for almost 10 years and it is always in great shape and the pace of play is at 3.5 hours 90% of the time. If you go play at noon on a Sat or Sun it will be longer just like any course in the ATX area. Great course.
The course was in average condition overall but is expensive in comparison to many of the courses available close to Austin
Had an early tee time and the staff seemed un-prepared. After checking in went to the range to warm up only to discover the staff forgot to give us tokens for the range (after a $70/green fee). Had to go back to the club house to get tokens. The starter and marshel on the course were great and engaging during the round keeping us up to date on any changes/updates and the refreshment cart was timely. Due to recent heavy rains the course had some localized damage but had put in much work to get things back to good condition. Greens and bunkers were in great shape. Overall we played in slighly over 3 hours with a twosome which was great but we paid $70+ for greens fees.
Greens rolling good, traps need serious attention though
Grey Rock is in average condition, greens rolling and looking good but it can't say the same for the sand traps. Although we just got a ton of rain, I've play 3 courses in the area and they did not have this issue. Staff always great!
South Austin Gem
course in great shape.. greens will fool ya sometimes..
I shot 2 strokes under par with handicap of 23.5..
lots of hawks, some deer..
Nice Course
The course was nice and maintained. It was worth the hour and a half drive for the hot deal price. Will definitely play there again. Pretty challenging from the tips.
Fairways are in great shape, greens are in good shape, bunkers are damaged from recent flash flood.
I have played this course for twenty years. When I first played this course flowers were on every hole, and the fair ways were good after it rained, they suffered from a poor irrigation system, now the fairways are plush and hold the ball up, allowing for great second shots. The greens mowed short, making them fairly fast. Right now they look like it is fall transition to different grass. Last Saturday night the Grey Rock area received 12 inches of rain over 10 hours, flooding all the bunkers, washing a lot of sand out and some were clougged and unable drain the water out. The pace of play was very good, we never were pushed from behind or had to wait for the green to clear. We played midday on Friday. We saw many birds and 4 deer. The beverage cart only came by twice. It was a great day at Grey Rock.
Great layout. A little dry in places.
This course is an excellent value. We played on Saturday at a discounted rate and were well pleased. The staff was great and the course was challenging without being impossible. I didn't really like the gas golf carts. Overall it was a great day.
Nice layout, shaggy greens.
Like the layout of this course. A nice balance of risk and reward. Staff was nice and attentive and starter and Marshall's were friendly. Pace of play a little slow, but picked up on the back. Course conditions were a little wanting compared to courses with similar pricing in the area. Will play again.
