Beautiful day and round
I started as a single, paired up with two golfers at the 3rd hole and then played the front nine with them before going back to being a single. The pace was quite good, the course in nice condition and a good time for all.
Great location, good condition
Our foursome lives in DC so we are routinely driving 45-70 minutes to play respectable public access courses. The major selling point for our group was the easy commute from DC. It took us a little over half an hour door to door.
We are teen handicaps and all found this course to be a fun experience. Not too challenging but certainly not a pushover. Conditions were great and pace was acceptable (4.5 hours) considering what appeared to be a packed course.
My only reservation with the facility was the range. It was packed and I had to wait a few minutes to find an open spot. We were also hitting off of matts.
All in all a great experience. Reston National is going to be a regular in our course rotation.
Good course but slow and greens bumpy
The course needs marshals to make sure play isn't too slow. More than 5.5 hrs for 18 holes on Sunday afternoon is pushing it. All of the greens were very bumpy which made putting unnecessarily difficult. Other than that it's a very nice and we'll maintained course.
Good value for the money
Really enjoyed the course, it's in great shape especially considering the winter we have had. Drink cart didn't show up until we were on the 14th, seems like lost opportunity there.
Will def play it again.
Beautiful Layout!
I booked to play on a Sunday as a single but was paired up to make a foresome which was nice. A great practice facility. The course was in great shape and very challenging. Some of the pin placements where a little difficult. Overall a great experience. A lot of waiting on the front nine, 3 hours. Will play again during the week!
Good condition
Fairway condition is very nice but geen have a few aeration spot.
Great course
I had a great time at this course. The course is great for beginners as well as more advance players. Course offrers pretty wide holes but still challenging. Go play it
Construction site on a hole
The fact this course charged a full price greens fees when they were tearing up one of the holes during our round where we had to avoid tractors digging ditches and knocking down trees is ridiculous. This is something that should have been told to us before we even booked the tee time or at the very least when we arrived at the course.
Extremely disappointed.
Golf is fun at Reston National
The course is well laid out and challenging. The greens are superbly kept. I enjoyed playing it even though it was not my most skilled day on the links.
This course has great greens.
Love the course. Plush fairways and greens. Par 3s are great.
Getting better all the time
I have played Reston National five or six times over the last three years. It has been in better shape each time; it is almost like playing a country club course right now.
Fun course
I played here for the first time, teeing off early in the morning. The pace was reasonable (4.5 hours). I played with a couple of the members who were very nice. We got held up a bit by the foursome in front of us, but it wasn't terrible. The carts weren't the greatest, but they had GPS which was very helpful given it was my first time playing there. The staff was very friendly, especially with the members I was playing with. The course itself had enough variety to be interesting but not too terribly challenging.
Nice course
First time to play here in VA, fairly good to play.
Solid course
Went out with a buddy mid week for a round, not too crowded and the staff was very accommodating. Pace of play was a bit slow for only having a twosome in front of us but still not awful. Tee boxes at times were a but rough but the fairways were in good conditions and the greens were phenomenal!
Fun Layout - Requires Full Complement of Shots
Played here many times. Reston is an older public course that gets lots of play. Fairways and greens are in very good condition given the summer and early fall busy season. Greens are a bit slow and some of the rough around greens is too "clumpy". Still, the course has plenty of character with elevation changes, interesting doglegs, and opportunities to score really well or really poorly. The initial drive on this course is always important, given long part 4s. Par 3s and 5s are best chances for scoring.
Long play time on the weekends
They schedule a new foursome every 8 minutes so on the weekends, it can easily take over 5 hours to get through 18 holes. The instructor team is top-notch.
Nice surprise!
We played and thought the course was in good shape....they water a lot so some fairways were very wet!....greens we're in great shape!
Nice old course
Maintenance is pretty good but no where near top end. Nice old course fun to play but tee boxes are pathetic mostly sand no grass slip all over. Smaller old style greens are ok but green sides just off the putting surface are rough.
Quick track in NOVA
Reston national is a nice track. Well maintained, good staff and a quick round in the am.
Not overly challenging but enough variety to enjoy.
