North at Boulders Golf Club & Resort
About
Nestled among 12-million-year-old boulders in the scenic desert foothills near Scottsdale, Arizona, Boulders Golf Club & Resort is one of the country's most prestigious resort destinations. The North golf course at Boulders plays big brother to the South Course, and offers bentgrass and marvelous views of the Black Mountain, as the course winds through the community of Boulders. Both golf courses spring from the desert foothills and feature take-your-breath-away panoramic vistas -- among those of spectacular formations of boulders, stunning Sonora sunsets and indigenous terrain.

Boulders South is Scenic
We played the south course and arrived in the middle of the afternoon during the week to find a very busy place since there are 2 golf courses there. They were well organized and got us out in a timely fashion after we used the range. The greens rolled real nice even though they were treated. The only problem we ran into was the fact that the foursome in front of our twosome would not let us play through even though they we were on the same par three where they were teeing off. The ranger wouldn't let us play through either and a big gap opened and we finished in the dark. Other than that it was all of what we expected and its worth the golf now rate.
Boulders North Course
Glad that I played the North Course after reserving it through GolfNow and not paying the rack rate. GolfNow even saved me over the rate they quoted me for staying there. The North Course is not worth the rack rate. There are so many other courses in that area that are less expensive and are a better track. I hear that the South Course is better, but more expensive.
Lush, lavish, and long in the wallet
I am a blue collar golfer with a 10 handicap. The Boulders North course is beautiful, scenic, and exquisitely maintained. The greens were sanded, but done so professionally that speed, read and break were
not affected. Fine true sand in the traps. The shorter par fours were laid out to provide challenges and opportunities. Unlike my Monday round at Troon North Pinnacle, Boulders North did not lock your driver in the trunk of your car. The landing areas were narrow, but not club restrictive. I used every club in my bag on my round. The price was a bit much. I would really play this course regularly for $75 less. My rationale for this always goes back to Torrey Pines in SD that costs $229. Torrey Pines is luscious, picturesque, and nationally renown. I will pay $225 for THAT type of mystique. Boulders North has that type of beauty and ambiance, but not that type mystique.
Great condition and layour
Loved the south course. Has the signature hole with massive boulders surrounding back of green. Every hole seems unique. Great scenery, and fairways/greens in really good shape. $150 on golfnow was really good value
Nice Day
Course was well maintain, but that is expected at this price point. Was not as scenic as i expected. Fairly straight forward with minimal challenges. If you are fairly straight off the tee, i would recommend playing back tees. Greens were in great shape but somewhat on the slow side. Would recommend playing for the experience. Next time I will try the South Course. I am told it is more scenic.
Too expensive for my blood
Golf now. Made playing once worth it until I win lottery. However views on south course are spectacular. Rough is softest grass I have ever seen. Greens are true, fast, and fair. I had fewest putts in a long time. If you want to play one of the best go for it
Boulders Doesn't ROCK!
After much internet research, I booked Boulders for a golf trip weekend with some friends. Our expectations were high due to GN ratings and the fact we've all heard of the Boulders. We're all seasoned golf travelers having played venues like Pebble, Cypress Point, Spyglass, Pasatiempo, Olympic Club, Bandon Dunes, and Whistling Straits to name a few of our favorites.
Unfortunately, the Boulders fell far short of expectations. The pro shop and golf course attendants were all friendly and helpful but our day started our with a poor experience at their grill. The food was marginal and service was far below the standard you'd expect st a nice resort. 90 dollars for a mediocre breakfast for 3? Don't eat there!
We found the layout of the course as uninspiring as our breakfast. Perhaps the South Course is the better of the 2, but we found the North to be nondescript and boring. The tee boxes, fairways and greens were very average. Other than the approach to 18, it was a very nonmemorable round...and where were the "Boulders"? Ventana Canyon in Tucson is about far more interesting and scenic desert course.
We'll be playing elsewhere next time in Scottsdale!
Beautiful views and great turf conditions
You'll be hard pressed to find a more scenic golf course than this. Beautiful Arizona landscapes surround this course and make for amazing backdrops to most holes. The turf itself is well watered and in great condition. Greens are well maintained and quick. Be disciplined with your drives though, the scrub land is not a forgiving place to find your ball.
Loved playing the Boulers
Almost every hole could have been the "signature" hole. Boulders, cacti, wilderness areas, rabbits, quail, - this course has it all. If you love the desert, this course is for you. I had dreamed of playing here- and it was everything I hope it would be. Its pricey, so I won't be playing here often, but it was a real treat- I hope to be back again. If you get a chance to play it- go for it. You will NOT be disappointed.
Nice views
Friendly staff and nice views of the surrounding mountains and homes
Boulder review
Beautiful course with beautiful views. Golfed with a member, Scott. He was unbelievably helpful and friendly. He even put up with our bad shots. Thank you Scott. Joe and Claudia from Minnesota
Bould(ers) Over!
My wife kept going on about playing Boulders when we were planning our trip to AZ. Not sure where she'd got the info from but I'm glad she had as this course was just great from the moment we arrived (after a slight detour around the neighbouring estate where Fred & Wilma Flintstone and his mate Barney must live. The closet thing to Bedrock!)
Bag drop guys gave us all the info we needed! Pro very friendly and onto the range. Plenty of targets, great range balls and someone even turned our cart around to face the right way when we were ready to go to the first tee.
I played from the Whites, c6,350 yds and my wife from the Gold tees c 5,400 yds. With the fairways beautifully manicured but lush from the recent rains in the area this made the holes play quite long but still fair. Greens were running at 11 and very smooth and without too many severe undulations our putting should have been better, but can't blame the greens for our poor performance on them!
POP a bit slow but we still got around in just over the stipulated 4:30 that the course suggest it should take.
High end course but worth the money and if you are able to chip a few dollars off with a GN Hot Deal like we did then it's even better value! We would definitely play here again.
Swing slow!
Great Resort......Beautiful course
Played here for the first time on the south course in the Scottsdale men's league tournament. Nothing much to say other than fabulous Condition and fabulous resort.
Definately worth the drive into Carefree
worth the green fees
I would recommend this course to all golfers, when in "the valley of the sun" make a stop here for your true golf experience
Amazing experience!!
Playing the Boulders North was the highlight of our 3 week trip to the desert!! We saved the best for last!!!
The entire day was perfect, the only thing missing was a hole in one!! LOL. Perfect greens and fairways, wonderful pace of play and amazing vistas! I can't wait to return to play the North Course on our next trip West!
Great views and challenging
We played the north course. Some really great views and pace was great. The only negative would be that there are a lot of pitch marks on the greens.
