Geronimo Course at Desert Mountain Golf Club

About
Desert Mountain Club boasts not one, but six Jack Nicklaus-designed courses, one of them being the Geronimo Course. The golf course is the most visually dramatic with a desert-style layout that meanders through intimidating boulders, deep washes, and ravines. The challenge of this course is instantly seen from the first hole, a par-5 with a dramatic elevation drop to a wide fairway. The hole calls for a precise shot in order to properly tackle the shallow green that is well guarded with bunkers. For every hole on Geronimo that carries over a ravine, Nicklaus included a safer route to accommodate the less venturesome golfers.

Private Oasis in the Desert
Fun and challenging golf course. All of the desert mountain courses are very private so unless you are a member or know someone living inside the gates good luck getting on. Greens were fast but manageable. It's definitely a shot makers course. Most the people I have talked to rate Geronimo as either the first, second, or third best course at desert mountain. I really enjoyed hole #1 and #18. Watch out for havalenas running around! The food in the clubhouse was fantastic. Get the meatloaf sliders! Would love to be invited back!
Can't wait to play them all at Desert Mountain
The first time playing one of the six Jack Nicklaus courses at Desert Mountain has whet my appetite, making me hungrier for more.
Geronimo was difficult but enjoyable from the proper tees. There are lots of danger zones that force you to layup or take on a desert wash or canyon ravine. Don't try to be a superhero. Plot your way around the course carefully.
I'm not sure what's more beautiful - the desert scenery climbing up and down the foot of the mountain or the million-dollar homes set well back from the fairway.
The most memorable hole actually comes last - a scary par 3 that's essentially an island green. If you don't hit the green or one of the bunkers, you're deep in the desert.
