Rancho Manana Golf Club has one of the prettier courses in Cave Creek-Scottsdale, located high in the Sonora and combining vistas with testing golf. It offers a par-70 championship golf course laid out over elevations that change dramatically right up alongside the untouched desert and the indigenous wildlife that comes with that, as well as an old-school dude ranch that has been incorporated into the golf resort. Low-handicap golfers will be challenged by the golf course, but it's not so tough that other levels of golfer will be turned away.

The Rancho Manana Golf Club offers golf to the public and is conveniently located just 20 minutes off the highway.

After a round of golf at the Rancho Manana Golf Club, stick around for around and maybe some eats at the Tonto Bar & Grill, which has received several awards and is listed among Arizona's top 100 restaurants.

Still love this place!

Great track, greens were ok considering the time of year. Course elevation change is exceptional. The carts are absolutely horrible. Cart attendant was professional and courteous.

Summer golf

Anywhere in Phoenix/Scottsdale in summer will be dry and bad unless you want to pay $100 a round, and you’ll still see dry areas. But this place was bad. Not one putt was smooth. Straight dirt in fairways. They did have water in places to drink. The starter and check in guys were weird and monotone. Kid helping with clubs was nice and friendly. $7 more for a bag of balls, ha. Had to hit off mats. Course was very short, needed driver on par 5’s only. And 16 is a par 5 that’s under Reno, is a par three for now. Which they posted, but for a 70 course, that made the round less enjoyable and a “now what” for your scorecard. I read that people use a two putt rule Bc the greens are so bad. Facts. Couple nice views and few elevated par threes. Paid $37 for a round and balls at 2:18. Starter let me out at 150 before a bunch of 4 stones went out. Pace of play was great for me, which is why I tend to try these cheaper places before the more expensive. Got done in 2:15. But there’s nothing worse than a 5 hour round as a single behind foursomes in this heat. Which leads me to place these types of courses. Which I think I’ll stay away from now on.

My initial interaction with staff was uncomfortable and the course conditions were poor and greens inconsistent.

Course layout was weird. Staff was very friendly but just didn’t feel the conditions were as nice as they could’ve been for the hype of this place and the money. A few greens had weeds growing all over and very bumpy. We had a fun day but not sure we will be back.

Staff is very friendly. Course layout is weird and conditions are a little rough. I know it’s summer so give them a break but weeds on a few greens and lots of bumps. Had a fun day but not sure I’d be back for the money.

Awesome views and very fun layout !

Beautiful course and a good test for any skill level. Very unique holes, including several with major elevation changes. Some greens were in rough shape and a construction zone on #16, but management seems to be working on improvements. Extremely polite staff in every position and great service. Definitely would recommend, especially for out of state visitors.

Greens are a mess

The inside and outside staff awesome.

Practice facilities ok, hitting off mats. Had to find grass to tee up driver.

On time start 9 min tee times, played with a local member before we teed off he said that they use a 2 putt rule because the greens are bad. (odd statement since I count all of my strokes)

The member was correct the greens are a mess. Dead spots, Pock Marks all over the place, looks like they will need to replace all the greens with the amount of damage. It has not been overly hot in PHX and the humidity has been high, other lower level course have been able to maintain their greens.

Hole 4 the back up began with 3 groups on the tee box.

Hole 7, 4 groups on the tee box.

6 hour round and we were not playing St. Andrews.

Maybe 15 min tee times, no rangers, no course beverage cart,

Tonto Bar and Grill simply the best.

Do not play this course at any price, I should have taken photos.

We aerified our greens later this year and because we are at a higher elevation, the bermuda grass has not filled in yet. By late July, they will be very good again.

Hyped up course failed expectations

This course was recommended to us by a couple of friends. We expected due to the $60 price point, this would be one of the nicer courses in the Phoenix area. We were wrong. First, for the positives: this course did have some amazing views. There were times where it felt like you were playing in an oasis. On top of that, it did have a fun layout, with holes that were unconventional compared to the average course. This added a bit more challenge, and felt rewarding when you played well on a hole.

However, the pros do not outweigh the cons. The pace of play for this course was dreadful. A large part was caused due to poor planning, leading to a group of about 20 slowing groups up behind them. Our foursome took nearly 5 hours to complete 18. On top of that, it was not well kept and the greens were dreadful to putt on. Mix that with a hole that was completely under construction, and it began to feel like a bit of a head scratcher for why we paid $60 for this course. For example, the 500 Club is one of the nicer courses in Phoenix and only charges $45 for a cart and 18 holes. I’m okay with spending more for a summer rate, but that’s only if the course meets those expectations. The staff was fine and weren’t a positive or negative.

This course was not worth the price of admission.

Unplayable

I've played this course maybe 6 times a year for the last 10 years. One of my favorites for the scenery and some unique holes. I played Tuesday Jul 5 and it was in absolutely terrible shape. The greens were especially bad with sparse grass and rolled dirt. Some were almost 50/50 dirt to grass. Putting was just not possible. Add to that - no beverage cart and a scheduling issue at the halfway house that had it closed all day, (you couldn't even buy a bottle of water, and half the jugs on the tees were empty!) Really, $60 to play was about $60 too much!

This is a great course on many levels. Fun and challenging for all levels of golfers. The views alone are worth the money. Not long but makes it up on the challenging variety. I enthusiastically recommend this course to all players.

Lack of information

I had to cancel this reservation. There was nothing on the course info that told me the greens were still "rough" from being aerated. Also no info as to having one hole moved from being a par 5 to a par 3. Lost my reservation fee.

At this time Not worth playing

Right now don't bother as the course is NOT good, The greens are in really, really bad shape. Fairways are marginal & tee boxes are also bad. The course layout is great & the views are spectacular. If you don't care about putting then go play.
