The golf course at Las Colinas Golf Club stretches over a gently, rolling landscape sprinkled with over 2000 cottonwoods as well as various other native grasses and plants. The greens are separated by ribbons of desert washes, where golfers sometimes catch glimpses of local wildlife. Although the golf course is not as demanding as other championship courses, the layout features an interesting variety of holes that requires precision from every club in the bag. The course offers a challenge for all skill levels with doglegs and lakes coming into play on some holes. Located in the growing community of Queen Creek, Las Colinas Golf Club has become a popular choice in the Valley.

very slow play

We never saw a ranger checking on the pace of the three foursomes in front of us. They were slow on their own, plus waiting on others. We quit at hole 15 after 4 hours.

$$$$

A costly round of golf for less than average course. Everything shut down by 6 even the washrooms and more concerned about having carts in by 6 than anything else. Pace of play good and marshal very friendly.

Definitely not TPC Las Colinas but OK

Darn, when I made my tee time I was thinking I was playing TPC Las Colinas, oops that’s in Dallas…just kidding, I knew where I was and was hoping for a TPC experience at this local muni course but…

First off, this course is one of the easiest, most forgiving, hazard-free, playable courses I have played in years.

It was in OK condition, I mean it IS winter ;-)

The fairways were firm (if you take beaver pelt divots your wrists will be hurting) and tightly mowed (the ball rolled and rolled and rolled so pay attention to distances) and some of the fairways naturally sloped toward the rough so with firm tight conditions just because you hit the fairway doesn’t mean you will stay in the fairway but instead wind up in the “rough.”

BUT the rough was not really ‘rough’ at all but short dormant turf so very easy to hit out of with no appreciable impact on play. Of course one benefit of having firm short rough is that your ball will typically find a level spot to stop for your next shot.

The greens were the highlight for me and the toughest test on the course. After the first couple holes I started to pay much more attention on flag location and slopes on the green because you definitely did NOT want to be above the hole and worse on a side hill to the hole…they rolled true and pretty fast. Many of the pin placements on the day I played were in locations where there were slight breaks around the hole so if you are playing your buddies for $ I’d recommend being careful with your “gimmies” because those short putts may not really be gimmies unless straight uphill!

As far as layout, everything was right before you and visible. “Doglegs” were very slight and with the absence of any hazards to speak of (maybe a few trees that might get in the way) in combination with easy ‘rough’ you can usually pretty easily turn doglegs into straight holes by cutting the corner.

All in all it was an enjoyable round and kinda nice to have a (fairly) stress-free loop in under 4 hours…yes, pace of play WAS that quick!

Too Expensive

I really like this place, always have. It has become over priced unfortunately with multiple bunkers needing massive attention to the point that you take drops for unplayable lies, including number 1. The rest of the course has honestly never been better. Nice job folks.

Improvements are evident

Play this course 3 or 4 times a year. They have new ownership recently - not sure exactly when - and the difference is readily apparent. 4 hour round on a busy Saturday. Marshall was a regular site. The course was in the best shape I've seen it. The worst thing I can say is we only saw the Drink Cart twice, but that is not a big deal to this golfer. If you haven't been here in a while....give it a shot. It's not the most difficult track around, but its a fun test.
