Tubac Golf Resort - Rancho/Otero
About
Set on the historic 500-acre Otero Ranch, Tubac Golf Resort near Tucson features 27 holes designed by Red Lawrence and Ken Kavanaugh. The Rancho Nine, which was named for the owners of Tubac's Golf Club in Cave Creek, includes one of the holes that was featured in the movie, "Tin Cup," starring Kevin Costner. It also features a perilous three-hole stretch called the "Tubac Triangle," as well as the aptly named 651-yard, par-5 eighth, dubbed "Train Wreck." The Otero Course, named for the family that established the ranch in 1789, is Tubac's original nine. Featuring beautiful bentgrass greens, the golf course is routed through cottonwood and mesquite groves.

Disappointed
Course is in surprisingly poor shape. Fairways are dry so good drives get punished. Greens and Fringes were in good shape. However, save your money and play elsewhere. TJ w course is not worth what they are asking.
SOUTHERN GEM
I had a fantastic time playing here. such a beautiful course and very well kept. The staff there is amazing and very professional. Joy is the best Beverage Host Ive had in a long while. When we got there we met a gentleman named Ken and he was great. helped with our bags, answered all our questions knew the history of the place forwards and backwards and even gave us some tips and tricks about the field of play.
A Great Course to Play
Wonderful course at the Tubac Golf Resort & Spa. The course has 27 holes. I played Otero 9 & Rancho 9. Beautiful scenery around the entire course. The course is very playable but some fast greens can present a challenge. Course was in fantastic shape, especially when compared to Phoenix area course. The green fee is very reasonable. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. It was a great 3 day getaway.
Bit overrated but nice
This is a fine golf course with nice greens and trees. Girl friendly.
The parking to club drop off is confusing. Long walk after parking your car. The bar drinks are pricey. Can’t buy drinks at the clubhouse had to find the shack by the carts.
Great day!
I took three guests from Los Angeles visiting me in Tucson, Arizona… We made the hour and 10 minute drive I found the course to be in excellent condition… The greens were also as good as I’ve seen them at two back… Everything worked out perfectly! We all had a blast! You also can’t go wrong with the egg and chorizo burrito for breakfast at the shack… We finished around at the salon which is always a fun place to hang out with friendly staff and plenty of choices on the menu… Looking forward to getting back soon… John Orcutt Potentially
Tubac GC
Greens are in good shape and ran true. Challenging tee boxes. Fairways in good condition. We had a lot of fun. After golf drinks on the patio were great and in a beautiful setting.
A day on the farm
It is always a pleasure to play at Tubac golf resort. The round was relatively quick and my playing partners were great company.
Unique setting
This is the third time playing there. Each time was enjoyable. The course is medium difficulty, but always unique with the feel of being on a ranch with its cattle & cowboy decor.,
Great place to play
Love this course always interesting. Staff is super friendly. Gil is always good for a laugh.
Love all the trees for a Southern Arizona location.
lovely layout
course in great shape, greens unblemished, moderately fast, very entertaining holes especially on the Rancho 9.
Take it or leave it attitude
Was excited to play this course again after several years. Saw they had added a third nine and really wanted to play the ‘Tin Cup’ nine, as I was bringing a friend who had never played there and had seen the movie. Wanted to make it a memorable experience for them.
Called before booking to see how I might be able to ensure we would be booked to play that nine during our round. Associate over the phone was unwilling to explain their course rotation and was unaccommodating on the matter… said you get what you get when booking.
Arrived to the course to find that range balls are not included. You are… a) a ‘luxury resort’ and b) are charging over $110 a round… plenty of places with better reputations than Tubac offer this amenity to patrons… but you figure since people already came all this way… they’ll just take it or leave it.
The only positive was the Starter that morning. I had explained my less than stellar interaction on the phone prior to booking and our desire to play the Tin Cup nine. The starter, without hesitation offered to work some tee sheet magic to get us on the rotation to play the Rancho nine. They had a viable solution, but would require we tee off within just a few minutes having just arrived.
Ultimately we decided a proper warmup would make for a better day (and score) on the course than rushing to play our desired nine. No complaints about the weather and playing partners were great that day. Course was in great condition overall.
Just bummed about the ‘stuck up’ vibe from everyone I interacted with (except the starter! They were exemplary and deserve a raise!)
Tubac golf resort
One of my favorite courses in Tucson area. Doesn't matter which two nines you play. Course was in great shape as always. I wish other courses took as good care of their courses as Tubac does. You won't be disappointed. Easily top 5 in Tucson area.
First Impression
I had read how good the course was and basically it was a decent course. A couple of holes were fairly tough, but overall the course was wide open. I think once was enough to play the course, nothing really made me want to return, especially for the price.
