El Conquistador Golf & Tennis - Canada Course
About
The Canada Course plays through forests of mesquite trees, offering a parkland atmosphere amongst a desert landscape. The natural terrain snakes through ravines and arroyos, providing several natural hazards. Considerable mounding, doglegs and elevation changes provide a varied layout, making club selection an important factor in addition to careful strategy. Golfers should be prepared to use every club in their bag. The course’s signature hole is the eighth hole, considered one of the toughest par 3s in Tucson. The hole requires players to drive the ball uphill along a narrow ridge between two Saguaro cacti, and canyons border the greens on both sides.

Typical of course condition Photo submitted by DARoyer on 03/29/2013
Great, but slow greens
Excellent everywhere but the greens were a bit slow. Needed a trim and roll.
Top notch experience
Nice time, great course, good value, friendly staff
Love it!
Awesome golf course. The best greens I've seen in years. Staff was super friendly. I will be back within the next 2 weeks. Thanks for the great experience.
I Always enjoy playing this course
The staff is always very courteous. After a short frost delay we got started. The course has always been in very nice shape. Aim for the 150 markers and you can't go wrong. Fairways are very green and usually generous.Pace of play was excellent, even with the delay. The practice area is well cared for. Actually for $10 I was told by the staff you can come and practice all day! One of my favorite courses to play in Tucson.
beautiful views
Great environment with various elevation changes.
Many bunkers and elevated greens make this course challenging.
Jammed between homes and city
Played the canada course. Most holes stucked between homes and streets and in poor conditions. Many tight and short doglegs where it is difficult to see where to hit and where we can't hit driver (from the back tees),.
3.4375 stars
a few nice holes. better than average sand traps. MOST of the people out on the course WERE NOT golfers. adults and children out riding bikes, walking, walking dogs and just sitting around. older man and his wife sitting on the tee box we wanted to use (they didn't move out of our way). NO ONE had any courtesy! close the course and make it a park/series of trails. or educate the locals to get out of the golfers way! last time I played golf at the dog park people weren't too happy with me! these people should be behind bars!
sad
3rd time playing here. Made us warm up(range) off of mats.....wtf?! This using winter in Indiana. Grass, baby, its right the rest us hit off of it. Layout has potential BUT waaaayyyyy too much uphill/downhill b.a. to make it enjoyable. Greens still very fuzzy. Better than before, but still sub par for a former HILTON course. Beverage cart girl informed us that she was quittig for the day....it was noon....byob. Too many other courses in better shape. Play elsewhere.
El conquistador course
Very nice facility, well maintained, friendly people just a great overall experience ! Unlike my game !
Target Golf in a Desert Setting
The course is a par 72 with only 3 par fives and 3 par three holes, the majority of the par 4 holes are around 350 yards. Although relatively short most of your shots require precision to set up the hole and be able to get on the green in regulation. Most of the tees and many of the greens were raised, with a lot of undulation on the fairways, as soon as you got off the first cut you would often be playing the ball below or above your feet.
La Canada
Was signed up to play El Conquistador but was informed by staff that they had just punched that course and offered to let me slide over to La Canada instead. Greens are hard and fast, couldn't get anything to hold outside of 140yds. Otherwise course in fair summer conditions with some brown spots.
Canada course
It was a hot day so course was not busy. Course needed watering as there were some patchy greens but overall it was nice.
greens need improvement
the greens are very slow and rough. the cart paths in places are torn up
El Conquistador-Canada Course May 5, 2015
Staff was friendly, however course conditions were only adequate with many of the greens in areas totally burnt. With no marshalls assisting to speed up play, a three-some ahead of us took 4:40 minutes to play. This group proceeded to slow us and another 4-5 groups. Observed this group damaging the course by slamming clubs etc. Get some marshalls out there and maybe you can get around in a reasonable time. Do not recommend this course at all.
Relaxed golf
Great fun. Was nice that practice range was included. Course was in very nice shape. I live five minutes from the course and will go there more if I can get these twilight rates
POOR CONDITIONS
THIS COURSE IS A JOKE, THE ONLY THING THAT IS WORTHWHILE IS THE RATE. GREENS ARE FURY FAIRWAYS TOO CHOPPED UP AND THERE IS NO BEER CART, SADLY A GOOD COURSE GONE SOUTH. I LIVE 10 MINUTES FROM THE COURSE AND AM HARD PRESSED TO PLAY IT AGAIN. TERRIBLE SERVICE AND WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO FRIENDS COMING FROM THE NORTH IN THE WINTER. PIECE OF JUNK.
Canada course
Greens and overall condition was very firm. Balls would go through the fairways & rough into the desert. Very hilly course and numerous elevated greens with severe uphill chips if you missed the green. Greens were cut smooth and some putts could be made. Overall a nice afternoon.
Fun
Fun course to play, good track when you are finished no matter your score you will have enjoyed the canada course .
Oro Valley should not buy this course
Good that carts are available to travel the long distances between holes/tees.
Bunkers are terrible. Is that supposed to be sand?
Need healthier grass around the outer areas around the greens.
A few more restrooms needed.
The scratch golfer I played with did not appreciate the hard scrabble in many areas.
On this day 3/3 my friend from Pennsylvania a six handicap made these comments.
