Conquistador Golf
Course was not in great shape , greens are bumpy , waste areas are not groomed with lots of weeds , no snack bar for treats and beverages , only one cart girl visit in 4 hour round . Course has lots of potential but needs a lot of attention . The Canada course appeared to be in better shape !!
Great round, once we found the place!
Our only complaint is that the GolfNow map it link takes you on a lovely tour of the Canada Hills neighborhood and NOT to the club house. Clearly this is an ongoing problem based on reviews and conversation with staff, that should be easy to fix! Staff Kindly adjusted our tee time With no problem.
Golf was fun, paired with a really nice couple. Course was in excellent shape and the pace was good. Found Just the right amount of challenge for our first round since October (19 handicap). Would recommend!
Great value
Have played this course often on my trips and it doesn’t disappoint! Great value, nice layout, fast and pure greens!
Excellent Venue
At the Golf and Recreation Center in Oro Valley in the Foothills region north of Tucson, one of 2 eighteen hole courses owned by the Hilton (1/2 mile away) and operated by Troon Golf. Excellent conditioning, very interesting layout, well but not excessively bunkered. Greens are large and receptive, some 2-tiered, putting affected by location of Tucson in valley below. Great staff made us feel valued and welcome.
Wonderful Day
The most bang for your bucks Great day could not have asked for a better time. Thank you
Awesome Day, Awesome Course
I would highly recommend this course, in fact, I played it again the next day. Fairways are plush, greens are in perfect condition. I found the course challenging but fair. The price is very fair for what you get with the course, and the staff and starters are the best. Already looking forward to getting back to Tucson to play another round.
1st time
Great course for the price. It was in excellent shape. Staff was extremely helpful. We were late arriving as it can be difficult to find but they were more than helpful and understanding. Some fairways are a bit tight but the course is great.
Better greens tha some courses
WE have played a couple of courses in Tucson where the greens were too hard and fast! This course was hard and fast but not as bad as the others!
A Great Muni in Oro Valley
I do like both courses, but very annoyed this round. I booked Cañada side through Golf Now, checked in and confirmed it was the Cañada side, waited at first Tee but several groups were there stating THEY had our tee time. Called office and was advised I had the Conquistador course. So much for booking Cañada side and confirming. The course itself was fine.
Needs some work
The traps are generally terrible. Coming through on the back nine after 2:30 pm, there wasn't a trap that didn't have wet sand in them. Couldn't play them as true sandshots because there wasn't enough dry sand go blast them out. Ended up "picking" the ball out of the sand like a pitch shot.
Excellent condition and pace was great.
Our only issue was that there was not a ball washer on the course!
Good course for the money
Sorta hard to find-gas sends you across the street! Good course for the money, very old course somewhat renovated, ALL elevated greens and tee boxes - skin to the old courses! good rough and fairways! Greens don't entirely hold the high approache shots, but do-able.
Tricky Greens
First time played. Most greens had multiple levels and quite a bit of slope. Some were a bit thin but overall this course was in good shape and offered a good test.
Decent course for the $’s
Very good staff
Nice fairways
Greens had a little desication
Rough was poor shape but typical for this time of year
Nice layout
First time on this side. I played Canada 18 earlier this week and like it better. It's pretty tight but fair. Greens are in good shape. As with most courses here in Tucson, some of the views are breathtaking with the mountains and elevation changes. I would definitely go back. $50 with tax Hot Deal was great.
Excellent condition
Course is in perfect shape, nice lush fairways, beautiful greens.
This is a challenging golf course in great condition, highly recommend.
Excellent Sunday afternoon value
I would rate this at 4.5 stars. The only thing holding it back from an excellent rating was a couple of minor nits - one green that is still recovering and a few bunkers that looked like they needed a bit of work. Truly minor issues. The fairways were immaculate. 17 out of 18 greens were flawless. I loved the desert layout - not boring. If you are a big, wild hitter, a few fairways would be narrow enough to give you anxiety. But I (mid handicapper with a pushed shot problem) did fine. Even the bathrooms out on the course that I used was ver nice. Staff was super friendly. The Starter gave me a great prebrief and gave me some great navigation tips that helped me (e.g., finding the second tee). Water was available on the course. Due to some threatening weather that did not materialize, pace of play was blazing fast (under 3 hours). Really enjoyed the round.
