Highlands Reserve Golf Club
About
Mike Dasher's Highlands Reserve (opened 1998) is suggestive and irresistible. The course sits on the edge of a long sand shelf called the Green Swamp Ridge near the town of Davenport, spanning 120 feet from top to bottom. Dasher's holes fairly dance around it, two-stepping from a high point at the first green all the way to the low basin of the 13th fairway.
You will find pine tree-lined fairways reminiscent of the Carolinas, open spacious fairways likened to the great Scottish courses, and a bit of old Florida with citrus trees along the countryside.

What a transformation!
I last played this course in 2022 and was blown away at the condition today when we teed off. I had heard that they redid their greens, and you could tell. The overseed took nicely and the fairways were pristine as well as the greens.
Highly recommend playing here if it has been a little while since you have visited.
Great course even better staff
Never played in Florida before and was definitely going o get a round in somewhere as golf at home in Atlantic Canada was done for the winter. We were down for a big family vacation and my step son who wants to play more golf and brother in law who is a casual golfer wanted to play with me. I needed t find a place to play that would be friendly to all skill levels and not be discouraging to them. After much research I decided upon Highland Reserve and it did not disappoint, it was a beautiful day and from the 1st dealing with staff in the clubhouse to the starters who set us up to play we had a great day of golf and much fun. The course was in very good shape and all 18 greens which we were told had been recently re done were in excellent condition. It is not BayHill but was a great place to play a round with no water flhazards but plenty of bunkers and trees to keep you on your toes. We really enjoyed our round there and if I get back to the area again I will make an effort to play there again. Thanks to all of the staff that treated us so well from the lads here in New Brunswick!
Best I've Ever Seen It
I've played here a couple times a year for a few years now, and it was in the best shape I've ever seen it today. From tee to green, everything was in great shape (especially the greens). The guys in the pro shop were very friendly too. We finished our round in under 4 hours as well, so the rangers were obviously doing a great job keeping pace of play up. If you've never played here before, the course is on the easier side (no water hazards, a lot of room for error on some of the tee shots, etc.), but it's still got a nice layout that I think all handicap levels would enjoy. I will definitely choose to play here more often in the future.
Great economy course
The course was in good shape. Tees, fairways, and greens were green and in good condition. Rough was mostly dry and and brown, but it was winter months in Florida so not uncommon. Staff was friendly. Pace of play was good until the last couple holes when we caught up to a slower group, but still not bad. Finished our round in just over 3 hours. Very open course. Great for beginners and high handicappers.
Great Course
This is a great course, played it a few times now, it gets better. Staff are so friendly, they even found my wedding band which slipped off in a cart cup holder. I was so grateful as it belonged to my Father
Keep up the good work folks at Highlands, I will definitely play again next time i am in Davenport
Best Regards and thanks
Steve Sargent
I wish more courses were like this
With elevation changes, length and challenging greens this was a really fun course. Conditions were perfect.staff was cool. The Marshall did a great job of keeping folks on pace. For the price, this is one of the better experiences I’ve had.
Unorganized staff
From the starter to ranger they were unorganized and not on the same page. Starter tells you to grab a cart and wait for the tee time, you arrive at 1 pm tee time and the ranger tells you to return the cart to join another random single player and your tee time is delayed by 20 mins. Ranger also tells me I'm not allowed to wait at the first hole until he is ready. Later witness other groups with 3 carts, which makes no sense.
Front 9 Course layout is pretty narrow as the holes are parallel to one another which causes lots of delays as players tend to hit in each other fairways with a slice or draw. Which then causes players to wait for the player to get out of their way before they tee off or hit their next shot.
Back 9 Course layout is better spread out but delays from the front 9 makes the pace still slow waiting on players to finish. With the elevation changes it's tough to see players in front so you would often hit into them.
For the rate of play, at a reasonable cost, for a well maintain fairway and green I would rate it 7 out of 10. But the greens are super fast with different elevation also.
Bring your patients if you play here as I will not return as other courses like Heron and Providence are better suited and spaced out.
Beautiful day of golf.
We had a 1pm tee time. Was a gorgeous Florida afternoon. Changes in the course is really paying dividends. Greens are great. Course is getting better every time I play it. Keep up the good work!
First off they were running behind our scheduled tee time which is understandable but then proceeded to place a twosome in front of us before running a third to join them which slowed things down even more then on the 17th green we were told that we wouldn’t be able to finish our round because the carts needed to be back at clubhouse.. but the group placed in front of us by the grumpy starter got to finish their round.
Highland Reserve
Fun track. In great condition. Team did a fantastic job bringing this course back from oblivion. One of my go to places to play.
Nice Course
The course is in good shape with excellent greens and fringes. The only drawback is that some of the holes run beside other holes and golfers stray between holes.
The best part of golfing at Highland Reserve is the pace of play. The staff works very hard and uses technology to keep up the speed of the game. We started at close to 9:00 am and finished in less than four hours on New Year's Day.\
It was fun to actually play holes with lots of changes in elevation. Reminds me of courses further north.
New years day golf with family
This course has improved massively in the past 2 years, it is a really nice place to play now.
The greens are now very good and the fairways and tees are good as well.
The course was very busy when we played and we were waiting quite a while from hole to hole but it wasn't a massive issue as we weren't in a rush.
Very good value for money and would definitely go back.
