Primm Valley Golf Club - Lakes Course
About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2024.
The Lakes Course is one of two championship courses designed by Tom Fazio at Primm Valley Golf Club. It was the club's original layout before it was joined by the Desert Course a year later. As its name would imply, the Lakes Course features an intricate system of lakes and rivers weaving through the layout and coming into play on 11 holes. The layout is challenging but playable with elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers that are balanced by large greens and wide, player-friendly fairways. One of the golf course's most memorable holes is the par-5 second. This challenging 530-yard hole plays around a massive lake but with an accurate second shot, it is reachable in two. There is also water the left of the green and a bunker in front.

Just play it.
Lots of fun. memorable holes very good conditions.
lots of endulation
Tough course for a 20 handicap. No level lies and everything' slopes somewhere. Other tee boxes in view. 18 tee a little dangerous. Friendly staff and great experirience. Bring extra balls.
Best value in Vegas
A very challenging but fair course. A great place to play on your way to Vegas. Well maintained and friendly staff.
Decent Conditions for Time of Year
This course played a little easier/shorter then its sister desert course. Water does come into play on several holes and that does increase the difficulty. Moderately Long and Accurate players will find at least a couple drive-able Par 4's, and depending on the Wind all the Par 5's are probably go for in 2. The Conditions were decent for the time of year, there of course are lots of dormant areas around bunkers where they didn't overseed, but generally everything was very playable.
Great layout
Great layout. Tough greens. Challenging approach shots to avoid the traps and be on the correct tier of the green. Very fair challenging course.
Great Course
Great Course! Pace of play was great, course in great conditon
good value
The layout of the Lake course is very nice. The maintenance of the ground is good comparing to some others at the same price range. The sand in the bunkers can be more.
Great course, prefer Desert however
Great course, nice layout, and worth the drive from Vegas for some good golf, especially with great last minute deals from GolfNow. We played the Lakes in the morning and Desert in the afternoon. Seemed like the Lakes was the more popular course that day, as it was booked more. The pace (Monday morning) was great with a 4-hr round and no waiting on any tee. Course conditions were very good. Overall, I would choose the Desert Course, however, as I preferred the layout and we only saw one other group besides us on the whole course the whole afternoon.
Primm is the BEST the best course for all skill ranges
The Lakes course at Primm is my favorite course in Vegas. It's 45 minutes outside of the city. It takes me 70 minutes EACH way to drive to this course from the north end. I still do it as often as I can. This course is so pretty and built in such a way that you FORGET you are in the middle of a desert basin and next to the worlds largest solar farm. Lots of water hazards and trees to make life difficult if you hit a VERY errant shot. However, If are intermediate or above...they only come into play if you choose the high risk/reward shot. I've never been to the course where the course was in bad shape. Yes, you have the errant mower blade on a fairway or green every now and then....but that is golf and i won't fault humans for mistakes. Bunkers can be tricky here. the lips are big and have caused me a headache a time or two. Greens are greens are challenging but fun. they are fairly easy to read which makes life better for us players learning as we go.
I live 20 minutes from Paiute, 10 from silverstone, 5 from aliante....and I make this drive every chance I can. The staff there are so friendly. I almost didn't want to write a good review so I can keep this place to myself! lol
FAIRWAYS VERY THIN
I paid $25 on a Hot Deal to play here. If I would have paid more the course would not have been worth it. Greens in good shape but Tee boxes and fairways are very thin. Played 6 course in the LV area in last 10 days and I rate this the worst. When the grass gets thicker if ever this would be a great course but not today. Time of play very slow, took 5 hours. Marshall showed up on the 13th to get the slow foursome out of the way
Primm Valley Golf Club - Lakes Course
Golfnow is my only booking service. The course and pace of play were very good and a the weather was great for mid February. I'm looking forward to my next round.......
Used to be fantastic, not so much now.
First played here ten years ago. Once you figure out the designed landing areas course becomes easier. The condition of this course has turned from lush and green to grass that's barely alive. You can thank the drought for this. Got a good deal on golfnow at 2:30 pm. They let us go sooner since the Desert course was less played. I really appreciate that. We were able to finish 16 holes by 5:30 sunset. At full price not worth it but for a deal it is.
FUN LAYOUT. CHALLENGING GREENS.
I played the course on the way to Las Vegas. I got a really good deal on my tee time, and was very pleased with the round. From tee to green, the course varies in condition from acceptable to very good. There are some thin spots in the rough and a few rocks in the bunkers, but nothing serious enough to shed any tears. The greens were nice. I had trouble judging their speed, probably owing to the prevailing grain. A nice Fazio layout with lots of water, but a fair amount of room.
Women golf too
The pasta salad was so full of vinegar it wasn't edible. All we got was "sorry bout that" when we walked to the bar to get a refill on our drinks because nobody came back to the table. All the men in the restaurant were Vista by the waitress several times as well as the men at the bar. I realize that golf has always been for the boys but some women love golf, we have careers and make very good $. I would have left a big tip had the staff realized that.
This course is good
This course is in a ok condition some fairway is not as it should be and some green is not as it should be...
Always worth it for a good deal.
This was my 3rd or 4th time playing there over the past few years and it's always been a good time. Fair and interesting layout, good shape and a great value compared to other Vegas courses. Solid facility all the way around, including a helpful and friendly staff. I look forward to my next round there.
Awesome
great course great staff great value what else can you have to say.
This is a great golf course!
Played as a threesome and had a great time. $100/pp, but on golf now $35/pp. This is always on our must list when visiting Vegas!
Great course
Course is in good condition pace af play great. Finished just over 4 hours.
Worth the Trip
I've played a few times there. It's off season, and I wasn't expecting the course to be in perfect condition...and it wasn't. But, it was in great condition for the time of year.
The Lakes course is a great track. It's not really long, but it is challenging. I'd play there more frequently if it was a little closer.
It's a worthy course to make the effort to play.
