About
Situated in the foothills of Bull Run Mountain, Bull Run Golf Club has a beautiful woodland setting that is conveniently located just minutes from many historic Civil War sites. The course plays through mature forests and across lush, grassy meadows. There are also several ponds that come into play throughout. The expansive layout covers over 450 acres, allowing plenty of room for the native flora and fauna. The risk-reward layout has plenty of challenges for more daring hitters but it also offers wide fairways that are molded to steer the ball towards the center. The landing areas are generous but they are often framed by grassy hollows, bunkers, or mature trees. Bull Run is challenging, but playable, which is why the club is considered one of the best golf courses in the D.C. area.

Golfer Reviews
Gravel Bunkers???
I enjoy this course every time I had played it. Its fairly wide so I feel that its very playable...except when it comes to its bunkers. For some reason all of the bunkers have a hard packed bed of gravel that is beautifully disguised under perfect white powder sand. Forget about playing out of the bunkers here. The bunkers reject your club because of the hidden bed of rock under the sand. Is this some superintendent gag or technique that I'm unaware of? Very surprised and appalled by this. Other than that...I love this course. Great clubhouse, range, putting greens, and course layout.
Winter expectations should be light
Many tee boxes are real beat up. We play at a public course in area which has nicer greens and fairways and drains better. Views are beautiful and I do like the layouts but their prices for quality of course has substantially increased.
Great layout
Course typically in good condition. Fairways a bit beat up. Sunday was cartpath only found the course to be mostly dry. Love the course always on the high side for cost
Greens are immaculate
Ive played this course twice (November and January) and while I obviously only seen the course during the off-season, I must say I've come away impressed both times. Fairways and rough are good considering the winter months but the greens are in excellent condition. Ball rolled true and it was actually rare to find a blemish or pitch mark. The layout isn't anything special but Its good and the 18th is a reachable par 5 if you hit it good off the tee. I will absolutely be back when it warms up a bit
Bull Run
if memory serves, this course had some trauma in the early 2000's with cicada killers swarming the course and destroying greens. they have come back from that devastation and it's pretty much back to its former glory. there are houses at the course now, but that really doesn't detract from the experience at all.
Great Course
Very good course. Well run and challenging. Thank you.
