About
The Lago Vista Course is Lago Vista resort’s original track, designed by Leon Howard in the late 1960s and renovated by Dave Bennett in 1992. The golf course has four water holes, more than 40 bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes of up to 100 feet. Lago Vista is known for its demanding par 3s, which all go right at 200 yards. No. 10 is fun because it can be reached in two: a 495-yard par 5 with a creek that looms right.
Getting to Lago Vista: From Austin, take Hwy. 183 north to FM 1431, then turn west 11 miles. When you come to Lohmas Ford Rd. turn left and drive 3 miles, then turn right on Boggy Ford R. Veer to the right and follow the signs to the golf course.

Greens are so so.
Played the day after the greens were aerated and sanded. Understandable that they weren't in great shape but even with that I could see that they weren't in the best shape before. If I come back to the area in the future I will give it a second chance. The course layout is great and the elevation changes were challenging at times.

We thoroughly enjoyed our round of golf at Lago Vista golf club greens were a little rough but they're working on them the food was great and the staff was super friendly

Comically bad
Going to start this with saying literally every staff member interaction that I had was awesome. The employees are not the problem whatsoever. The greens were terrible to put it lightly. The renovations however were nothing less than absolutely comical. The 18th hole par 3 was literally 70 yards from the deep tees. If you were playing ladies tees it was no further than a 25 yard hole. I wish I was joking. They did this on a couple other holes as well. Really think I should be refunded. I drove an hour to play this course because it was recommended highly. Don’t want to sound like a Karen, but if someone could reach out to me that would be awesome. Besides the awesome staff, one of the worst golf experiences I’ve had.

Vacation golf
This course was a good value for the price. A few greens were under repair. The speed of pace was great, 4 hours for the round. Only needed 1 day in advance to get a tee tome at 11am on Saturday.

Course was in bad shape
They had four temporary greens out of 18, the greens were in horrible condition and the fairway wasn’t a fairway if you know what I mean

Worse Than Ever
Do you guys have a Greens-keeper? Who is in charge of the greens? The temp greens are awful. I try to be positive but you had your chance for years. Everything is ok, but those temp greens show no effort. You just cut the grass in the fairway. So bad our group of 8 will not play there anymore until you improve. You can't tell me it was the cold or dry conditions. Someone should know how to take care of greens. Go see Crystal Falls and see their greens. Awful, just awful. My recommendation: Do not play here you will be disappointed. All the other course are better.

When you have greens under repair, you do not charge $40 for a round.
My whole grouping was somewhat disappointed that the temporary greens at 4, 9 and 18, were in such poor shape and totally altered the holes on which they were placed. I understand the need for repair as there are many holes on this course where the greens, in their current shape, are somewhat unpayable as it is, but three holes where there is a temp green really suffer.
Don't get me wrong, when this course is fixed, it will be a wonderful course to play again, but for now, no go for me and my friends.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME
This by far the worst course I have ever played. This is the first time back in about a year. The course conditions have gone downhill so bad. Every green has giant bald spot, what they call temp greens are a joke. I have better grass in my yard then they do on the fairways. All I can say is pay a little more and drive a little less to have a much better golf outing. Oh and let’s not forget the course has fire ants everywhere.

Course under construction
The greens are the worst I have ever seen on any course. The greens are mostly dirt or sand (very limited grass) Some of the greens were temporarily moved while under construction. The temporary greens were basically mowed areas on the fairways. I would reconsider playing this course again in the future once work on the course is completed. For Now there are 3 greens that are completely unplayable.

Nice atmosphere, terrible greens
The surrounding neighborhood and lake views are beautiful. The layout of the course is very nice. The fairways are in average shape and the greens are in horrible shape. It is worth playing if you can get a deal on it, otherwise I would not bust the bank to play here.

Terrible conditions, worst I've seen this place they blame the freeze on the conditions that was months ago. All other courses I've played the freeze didn't have any significant effects. This place is terrible, used to be a great course but has gone way downhill in the last couple years

Average
Nice local course. Currently 3 greens are temporary greens no better than dirt. Other greens would be good but they are being aerated so not in best shape.
Would definitely play this course again after greens are established.

Ehh
Tee boxes were rough. Fairways were 2-3 inches thick. To say they needed to mow is an understatement. A handful of the greens had sand spots & another handful of the greens had muddy washouts. Lastly - not only was their no drinking water on the course, we did not see a beverage cart the entire time we played. This was a Saturday.
Overall, the price was very reasonable so we weren’t expecting Augusta. The views were great and the course has tons of potential if shown a little more love. We did pay slightly more for Falconhead the following day and it was more than worth it!
