About
The Lago Vista Course is Lago Vista resort’s original track, designed by Leon Howard in the late 1960s and renovated by Dave Bennett in 1992. The golf course has four water holes, more than 40 bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes of up to 100 feet. Lago Vista is known for its demanding par 3s, which all go right at 200 yards. No. 10 is fun because it can be reached in two: a 495-yard par 5 with a creek that looms right.
Getting to Lago Vista: From Austin, take Hwy. 183 north to FM 1431, then turn west 11 miles. When you come to Lohmas Ford Rd. turn left and drive 3 miles, then turn right on Boggy Ford R. Veer to the right and follow the signs to the golf course.

Lago Vista
It was a 40 minute drive to get to this course
Initially thot we had a $17 rate but jumped to 37
Our two some was paired with two real gentlemen
Very nice to play
The beer cart gal was very nice and courteous
My partner who is much better than I am , did not care for the course especiall the lack of grass in the fairways
Doubt If we will play here again

Great time with the Marshall, he kept me on pace... really nice guy. I found the Callaway.... btw.. Great pace and fun times at Lago Vista !

Nice Views, but not well maintained
It was the off-season (mid-March) so to be fair it was dormant. But, the greens didn't even have grass in many spots and really the course should not be open if they don't overseed with a winter/cold weather grass. The tee boxes were horrible (not just because of no grass) but because they were not level. This course has some real potential but it simply is not maintained.

Bad Experience
I've been playing this course since 2011, and the conditions were the worst I have ever seen. I know we had a historic winter storm, but other area courses are in much better condition. Tee boxes and greens were all brown, with very little grass left on the greens. Pace of play was terrible. Had a 2:37 tee time, but didn't tee off until after 3 PM due to no carts available. Quit after 9 holes as there were 3-4 groups waiting at each hole. Carts are in rough condition also. Pro Shop and restaurant are nice and staff is friendly. Please close this course for a few weeks and get conditions back to decent before disappointing even more players.

Not Recommend
The staff at the Pro Shop were friendly; the person who prepared the cart delayed the tee time for those who arrived on time for those who arrived 20 minutes late. It was irrational. Course condition was worse than the bad condition we know of. The fairway was sparse and the greens seemed unmaintained for a year. It felt like on an old mat.

Course is a little rough
Typical TX winter conditions - lots of hard pan, nothing green or growing, but great to be out playing after the 8-day Feb storm. Greens were not rolling true either, but still a good value for 18 holes.

There was mud in the fair way and no grass any where

Spend Money
This course needs grass. It has not been over seeded anywhere. It needs a golf course greens keeper. It will never meet its potential until these steps are taken.

Positive and Negative
The course is overplayed and underrated for. The locals drive all over the course beating it into submission. Almost no grass left anywhere. The positive is the layout is awesome and juniors play free with a paid adult. Most of the issues are because of poor player etiquette not the fault of the course. So many rounds are played it is hard for the course to maintain it properly.

Overpriced park
Couple of issues i had with the course.
First off I paid 25 bucks for a twilight tee time. That is way overpriced for this venue as it is more like 10$ value to play due to theses reasons;
Conditions are the worst I have ever seen in 20 years of golfing
Tee box atrocious - all mud no grass and no where close to level
Fairways are yellow understandable but I found many large rocks that need to be covered as my ball rested on one after a drive
Greens are the one reason I would never go back. the grass protruding through the dead grass made it impossible to putt. With that being said no greens = no golf course
The 10th tee box you need to drive on the street with no signs or directions. The marshall when approached about this said "the course wants you to go to the bar to buy drinks" as the reason for the no signage as My self and my golf partner were looking all over for the 10th tee box. we would have never of found it without asking!
you can keep the 90 degree rule private as it would make no difference if anyone were to drive on the "course"
This information should be made public, as if I had known these conditions I would have never gone all the way out there!
terrible value and hate to think anyone pays more than 5 bucks to walk around the "park" as it is no golf course. It is just open land with mowed grass that no one takes care of.

Bad shape
Greens were in terrible shape with aeration and caked dirt. Tee boxes needed lots of work. Played Lago Vista several times and have never seen it like this.

The staff couldn’t have been nicer! The day was beautiful, paired with a really nice guy from Leander, fairways a bit rough and greens had been aerated but overall not too bad. Pace of play was very slow....must have been men’s’ league in front of us....very very slow.
