About
The Lago Vista Course is Lago Vista resort’s original track, designed by Leon Howard in the late 1960s and renovated by Dave Bennett in 1992. The golf course has four water holes, more than 40 bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes of up to 100 feet. Lago Vista is known for its demanding par 3s, which all go right at 200 yards. No. 10 is fun because it can be reached in two: a 495-yard par 5 with a creek that looms right.
Getting to Lago Vista: From Austin, take Hwy. 183 north to FM 1431, then turn west 11 miles. When you come to Lohmas Ford Rd. turn left and drive 3 miles, then turn right on Boggy Ford R. Veer to the right and follow the signs to the golf course.

Conditions at all time low
This place used to be a great course and well kept, has gone way downhill in the last couple years and now as bad as it can get I wont be back until hopefully it improves drastically. Terrible conditions it's like they dont care

WAIT! DON'T GO PLAY IT, YET!!!!
The course is in terrible shape. The fairways grass in some areas are up to 3" long making it difficult to find your ball in the fairway, never mind the ones that are off the fairways in "rough". I love this course, and have played it many times, but will not be doing so until they put real efforts into making the course playable. The 3 temp greens are a joke; don't bother to putt, use a wedge. The other greens are in terrible shape; mud spots, sand pits and missing parts on the putting surface.
I do not recommend playing it until the course is playable, again.

Terrible
I played at Lago on 9/18/21 and the course was horrible. There were 3 holes with temporary greens in the fairways, all the greens are trashed, everything else is brown and the worst part is they still charged $46 with no mention of a discount.. The course wasn’t even worth a dollar a hole in that condition. I hope they can turn it around, I I like the layout of the course and have played there a bunch over the years. But in the current condition, I won’t even consider going back for at least a year.

What a shame
This is easily one of my favorite layouts in the greater Austin area. Very cool holes, drastic elevation changes, cool views. Conditions just absolutely atrocious. I really don’t mind rough around the edges, but this course is beyond that. It’s unacceptably atrocious. If they’re not gonna maintain this course and restore the really bad spots, it is in very poor spirit to charge as much as they do. My suggestion is to outright boycott this place until they fix it or reevaluate their rate.

Staff was very friendly and the cost was reasonable. The course conditions were poor. They had 3 temp holes that you couldn't putt on. Had to use my wedge instead of putter. The other greens weren't much better. The course was pretty open so I was hitting in the fairway most 9f the day but lost several balls because the need to cut their grass. Pace of play was pretty good for a Saturday with no Marshall.

Great scenery
This place has took a turn for the worst...fairways are crap greens are terrible...The city people of Lago Vista suck they think the golf course is losing money and its not, wake the f up

What a shame
I titled this review “what a shame” because never in my years playing golf have I seen a course waste such an abundance of natural beauty and scenery. Lago Vista Golf Club is situated about an hour from Austin in beautiful rolling hill country terrain right by Lake Travis. As most who golf in Texas will attest, natural scenery is rare to come by. Lago Vista has it in spades… high elevations, rolling hills, lake views etc. with many interesting holes.
The course is in terrible condition. Shockingly terrible condition. This should have been a $20 round max not $46. Let’s start with the roughest golf practice green I’ve ever seen. Dirt, holes, bare or no grass. If there’s one dubious credit I can give Lago Vista it’s that the course matched the practice faculties. Not good at all.
There were 3 temporary greens. We were not told about any of them. The temporary green on 18 is absolutely awful. It was bare ground between two trees. Tee boxes are unkempt and not maintained. Not even mowed in one instance. The greens are the worst greens I’ve ever putted on. The fairways are poor. Rocks, exposed under soil conditions, holes, bumps and hollows. One tee box sloped so badly the ball was about 4 inches above your feet when hitting it. Shockingly bad. The bunkers are unplayable. One of them had a pool of luminous green water in it. I have no idea what it might have been.
Pace of play was terrible. There was a 2 ball behind a 5 ball just in front of us. We were waiting for 3-5 minutes on every tee box.
On a good point the water stations were well stocked with cold clean water and the ball washers and towels were also well stocked. Staff were friendly. Not overly friendly but pleasant.
What a shame this course has TONS of potential. They have natural beauty coming out of their ears. Sadly it seems they don’t care enough because clearly there is no effort, money nor time being out into this course.

Kind of a joke
Greens are really bad, including the temporary greens. Fairways are like cow pastures. Tee boxes haven’t been mowed in weeks. It’s as if they do ZERO maintenance on the course. I can’t believe they actually charge money to play this disaster of a golf course.
I hope anyone reading this will learn from my mistake and decide to play anywhere else than here. It wasn’t fun, it was a joke.

Beautiful view of the lake!!
Enjoyed playing in the hill country with a couple views of the lake. The putting greens were in rough shape. There were 3 holes under construction which were shortened including hole 18 only 65 yards!

Great layout good conditions
Home course so a little biased. Love it when it’s al put together but looks like there’s still some residual damage from the freeze.
