About
The Lago Vista Course is Lago Vista resort’s original track, designed by Leon Howard in the late 1960s and renovated by Dave Bennett in 1992. The golf course has four water holes, more than 40 bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes of up to 100 feet. Lago Vista is known for its demanding par 3s, which all go right at 200 yards. No. 10 is fun because it can be reached in two: a 495-yard par 5 with a creek that looms right.
Getting to Lago Vista: From Austin, take Hwy. 183 north to FM 1431, then turn west 11 miles. When you come to Lohmas Ford Rd. turn left and drive 3 miles, then turn right on Boggy Ford R. Veer to the right and follow the signs to the golf course.

Only if you live in the area
I played here about three years ago. I decided then that I would never go back. however because I understood they are under New Management and I read they had done a lot of improvement I decided to go back today. I would not recommend going there even for a $10 round. Unless you were a member there or live in that area I can understand why you play there. I drove 25 miles to play there. Should have stayed at the course near my house that is in the same kind of shape. I just don't like that course either. Oh well, I gave it a try.

Disappointed
We were never told prior to start or booking that there would be temporary greens on at least three holes. That should have been a courtesy.to at least re-book at a later time, or reduce green fees. The greens were shaggy, and therefore slow. Fairways need mowing. This course could be awesome with better care to details and the grounds. Ill wait to ever play again when I hear the course has made improvements.

Ehh
Course conditions were alright. Course looked in alright shape. Most greens were fair at best and had 3 temporary greens. Pace of play was terrible but it was a Saturday morning. At one point, we were waiting on a tee box and had the 2 groups behind us on the tee as well. Pretty easy course, has some fun holes. I would go back , but only as a secondary (last ) is the sort. All other courses were booked in the area today as well

A hilly lakeside course
I enjoy this course, although a couple of greens on the front are being worked, and there are temp greens. But there is no crowd, and conditions are good for the middle of summer.

decent. Xcellent staff
this course overall has great views of the Lake and hill country. Fairways pretty dry. 3-4 of the greens are out. So shorter temp greens. The pace was pretty relaxed, but people would hop on in a hurry. Amazing wildlife and panoramic views. Some challenges. Some steep inclines. First time it was fun.

Sprinklers
Came out to the beautiful hill country of Lago Vista to get a round in on my day off. Green fees were reasonable until we came across 3 temporary greens that were not communicated in the beginning. No cart girl, water, or ice available on the course. Then we get around the turn through the 12th hole and they had the sprinklers on throughout the fairway....... Needless to say that was the end of the round for me. Young lady in the club house was phenomenal and helpful but communication is absolutely necessary for what was listed above.

Good course
Lago is a good course. They are redoing greens which messes up certain yardage apps. They have also let the old greens go while working in the new ones so they aren’t the best.

Disappointing
The course is generally in poor condition. We played on 19-July-2020. In addition, there are three consecutive greens under repair, so there are currently three consecutive temporary greens! I understand the need for maintenance, but no forewarning at the pro shop. I suggest you check before you play.

The check in guy "sorry. We are like McDonald's without any burgers right now". No carts, no range ball, 3 temp greens, and no grass in the fairways. Waited an hour after our tee time for carts.
Was not worth the drive or money. Great layout and potential. Horrible conditions and management.

Not great, but playable
Ground is like concrete. Very hard to hit off of. Holes 5-7 I would recommend just skipping because the greens are under construction, kind of a joke. It’s playable, but I’d rather pay for a course that actually has soft ground and all 18 holes with real greens. Was a bit disappointed.
