Lago Vista Golf Course

Sand traps in good shape. Fairways in good shape. Greens are undulating with moderate speed. Speed of play was good but I played on Thursday. Hilly course with lots of wildlife. Very scenic .

This is in an awesome location with beautiful views of the lake and rolling hills. But the course condition was terrible. There is very little fairway if any, they let native grass growin. Pace of play is terrible, was sitting on every hole for 10-15 minutes.

Played this course Sunday, Oct 2. Do not bother playing this course until the

fairways are repaired. Some kind of pervasive weed has taken over the fairways and it was unplayable! There were basically no fairways! It was like playing out of a pasture whether you were in the fairway or in the rough! Knowing this, they still charged $45 for the round, should have been $10 at the most. Won't play it again until I know it has been transformed back into a golf course as opposed to a cow pasture!

We paid $16 each for a 2pm tee time so price was good. The course was not in the best shape as the greens were in bad shape and fire ant mounds everywhere! But if looking for cheap round of golf for a high handicap not bad.

I was visiting Austin for the weekend and found a Hot Deal through Golf Now. The course layout was average and greens conditions were sub-par but the views throughout the course were very worth the price. Also, there were a number of deer throughout the course which was very relaxing.

My backyard is better maintained than the fairways! We were searching for our ball it seemed on almost every fairway, grass was way too tall. We even lost balls on par 5's after a well played layup. Not sure if the staff has just given up or if they just have some sort of scheduling issue, but the course is in real need of maintenance before we ever consider playing again. Not worth the drive or money under the current conditions!

This course used to be one of my favorites. I will no longer waste time or money playing here. Greens are horrible, fairways haven't been mowed in a while and the weeds have taken over. What a dump!

fairways are mowed so high that we sometimes had to look for the balls, also had heavy rows of dry cut grass in fairways that would stop the ball. first cut, more like rough.

Played there on a Sunday in September, and the course conditions were very poor. The fairways were not at all defined, and the length was more like the first cut of rough. Beyond the fairway, into the rough, it was very overgrown and difficult to find one's golf ball. Some shots felt like the US Open. Moreover, the greens were pretty darn slow...maybe a 5 or 6 max.

Aside from the conditions, the course layout was pretty fun. There is a lot of elevation change, but #9 approach shot is a bit dumb. The views are pretty nice, but I spent more time tracking down my ball to enjoy them. There are tons of wild deer on the course that don't seem to mind us golfers, really back to nature.

I'm glad I played the course once, to check it off my list. But for the price ($35) and the time traveled (1 hour), it's not a course I'm looking to return to anytime soon. Sorry to say.

This course was horrible. The fairways, greens and tee boxes all needed to be cut. Sand, no grass on some greens. Grass so tall in the middle of the fairway, it was easy to lose balls. Number 2 fairway needs work, standing water and mud in the middle of the fairway.

Very scenic course, friendly staff but horrible maintenance.

Greens felt like fairway, Fairway felt like rough, and rough felt like wilderness. Once your ball lands in the rough, you probably won't fond your ball. I lost 4 balls that way. Weeds are growing everywhere, some of the greens are withered. I know it has been raining, but seriously, where are the groundskeeper??

This course is one of the worst I've ever played in my 35 years of golfing. The fairways are loaded with weeds, the putting greens dont have grass and are unputtable. the rough is not mowed. i am a 12 handicapper so I'm no hacker per se.

I've played Lago many times in the past. This time I took a friend who had never played Lago Vista, I told him how nice the layout was ( minus a couple of holes ), the views you can't get from other courses in the city, etc. we get there, and from the 1st hole, the course was in pitiful shape !! They have basically lost their greens ! They hadn't been cut, were slow as molasses, and the rough was so high and thick ( hadn't been mowed in who knows how long ), if you missed the fairway by a foot, it took 5 min minimum just to find the ball !!!) That's ridiculous !!! Some parts of the fairways had been mowed on certain holes, and other parts had not ?? I was VERY disappointed, to the point that I was literally embarrassed from the facials my buddy was giving me all day... Hole after hole !!! And to top it off, they charged $28 a player, plus Golfnow's INFLATED "fee's" of almost $12 for two players, making it almost $36 a player !!!!

Course conditions and greens were terrible. It appears they are not being maintained. The gentleman working in the pro shop was not very friendly at all. Very disappointed as I have played this course many times and this was the worse I have seen it.

Have seen it in better shape. Needed to mow the grass especially near the greens. Lots of crab grass, greens were rough around the edges. Fairways needed attention, lots of lousy lies. I enjoy being there, like the layout & to see the lake full was a treat ! Please fix it up, nonetheless I'll be back !!

Course is a little hard to get to but for the dollar spent it's a nice course to play and not heavily used.

If your wanting a quieter time this is one of the nicer ones around the greater Austin area

This is the first time I have played Lago in about 4 to 5 years. The greens were very good. Couple of the holes were very wet. The fairways were on the verge of needing to be cut, but due to the amount of rain we have had the course was in pretty good shape.

Amazed at some of the changes. We use to play there at least once a month. There are trees that did not come into play many years ago but do now. Also it appears that some of the greens have been reduced in size. Over all need to go back and play more often.

Had to go around the four-some in front of us. They would not let us play through, even though they indicated no problem at the first tee. At the end that group was almost 20 minutes behind us..

I've always considered Lago Vista an underappreciated gem in the Hill Country, even as the quality dissipated under city ownership. I can now say this is one of the finest municipal tracks I've played. The greens and fairways were gorgeous. And I had forgotten how spectacular some of the views are when there's actual water in the lake.
