Lago Vista Golf Course

Lots of change in elevation. Greens good but not great. Tee boxes a little shaggy. Pretty open with very little water. Fun course to play and can't beat it for the price.

Being from Ft. Worth I have lots of quality golf course choices in the $40 price range. I guess I am spoiled. Let me start with the driving range. The area that was being used by others was down to the dirt but it was the only area you could actually see the bottom half of your ball. It looked like the teeing area had not been mowed in a week. As we moved out to the course conditions did not get any better. It was hard to tell the difference between the fairway and the rough as all the grass/weeds were anywhere from 2 - 4 inches tall. Once on the green the theme continued. The greens were very rough and filled with crabgrass. Some greens were better than others but the majority had the same crabgrass issue. Overall course conditions were poor. After the fact I found out that there are a number of other quality golf courses in the area that are a bit more expensive but I would recommend that you pay the extra money for a better experience.

course seems to be on the decline. It used to be in great shape. Now the tees are being taken over by St. Augustine and the greens are being taken over by crabgrass.Will not play again until the maintenance improves

I played this course a couple years ago and it was in great shape. The greens are very bad at this time and won't play the course again until greens make a big-time improvement.

My brother and I golfed here Sunday and were very pleasantly surprised and the fun and forgiving course layout (wide open), scenic views, and wonderful unusual holes. We really enjoyed it. We'll be back!

The course was very green. The greens rolled extremely true and they were very smooth. I liked how the ball sat up in the fairway but that is mostly because the fairways seemed to be St. Augustine grass so that was a little different. There were quite a few blind shots but everything was open and pretty straight forward so it wasn't too hard for a first timer. I started on hole one playing blue tees but switched to gold after the first hole. I hit several approach and sand wedges in to these greens given how short the course was. The distances are deceptive though so my rangefinder was handy. Great views and fun little course. It was pretty cool seeing all the deer out there. Lots of babies this time of year and they have no fear of humans. I bought a Gatorade and water before the round and it was only $3.50 so prices were good too.

Really enjoyed the course. Was hit by a monsoon so can't say this was the best way to review/experience a new course. Overall, however, very fair. Difficulty is all the hills and the sloping stances. But, the fairways are very receptive and lots of fun.

First time out. The course layout is what you pay for, great views ect... I wouldn't say it's in great condition but it is a good deal for under $30. Wouldn't pay more than $30 to play so I think the pricing is fair. Could be an amazing course if the kept the fairways up a bit better. Will be back for sure, but not dying to play again.

This day was cart path only. First few holes were rather soggy from all the rain. Back nine was much drier. Greens were rather slow. Played in 4.5 hours. Considering cart path only this was a good pace of play.

I chose to take my brother here while he was visiting from out of town because of some of the great reviews. It was my first time too and will likely be my last. I was extremely disappointed in the condition of the course. It seemed as if the fairways hadn't been cut in weeks, same with the greens. There was barely a difference between fairways and rough and the greens seemed more like fairway. It's too bad too because the views are awesome. I'm not sure if this is normal but I won't be making the 40 minute drive again to find out.

The course was in pretty good shape but it had rained a bunch all week and therefore it was very wet and soggy. This is not the golf courses fault therefore I can't say anything bad about it. But the greens could've definitely been in better shape. Overall for the money and the great views it is definitely worth a round or two. I want to catch it when it's sunnier though.

The condition of Lago Vista was significantly better than any of the Sun City (White Wing, Cowan Creek, or Legacy Hills) or Berry Creek courses that I have played recently. It was a true pleasure to hit off fairways that had a cushion of grass.
The course was a challenge with the terrain, water, hazards, blind shots, etc. but was fun for our threesome. We put it on our play it again list. Since none of our group had played it in recent memory, a course layout book would have been helpful.
We were caught between waves of significant weather, but at the turn stopped for lunch which was good. We aborted after 14 holes on the back because of lightening and thunder. Luckily, we found our way back to the clubhouse; we were rain soaked but safe to relax with a pitcher of beer. We had a good time.
As others have commented the practice area is somewhat ratty and grass is worn, but the course otherwise is great.
We are seniors and the use of a medical flag for the other cart made it possible for my other two golf buddies to play. They want to play it again too!

The course was a lot of fun. The marshals kept play going and were very friendly.

This course is beautifully played in the rolling hills of Texas. Great views and wild life.

The fairways were the best of all the other courses. The greens, some little slow but nice. Great view and some challenging par 3'sI'll go back

Came down from Michigan to golf and played multiple courses in nw Austin. Lago vista and highland lakes were our favorites. Bluegrass was lush and courses were in great shape. Breakfast at lago was cheap and very good. Unbelievable number of deer on course. Was cool. Few blind shots but those can be fun. Lots of elevation changes. Hoping to come back next year.

First and foremost, all staff were very friendly and greens were rolling great. I had heard this was a nice course so I booked a great rate on golf now. My first time to LV Golf club and I had to call for directions on my way in as I was lost in the neighborhood. Was told at club house that GPS doesn't work well in that area. Then range was closed so it was tough to warm up. The course felt very gimmicky to me, way too many blind shots where you would have to drive up the fairway to see if it was ok to hit, then back to tee box. I can see that slowing a round down during prime time. Thank goodness I played at 730am. Many holes with trees in the middle of the fairway, hole 9 felt like a hole you would see on a putt putt course, tree in the fairway, multiple rolling hills to a green so slanted back into the hills you just came down, the only thing missing was a clowns mouth and a windmill. I shoot 85-92 so I'm not advanced, but not a beginner either, the round was just not enjoyable. Will definite play Highland Lakes in the future, but probably not LV.

Very lush fairways and smooth fast greens. Undulation on the greens make it more difficult. Some greens hard to hold but over all great course in great condition. Really enjoyed 18 holes here. Friendly staff and beautiful condition. You have to know where to hit some of your drives. A couple of blind shots necessary. Especially No. 9. Loved it! Want to go back again. I had several frustrating three putts.

Beautiful, from the rolling hills to the great pin positions, I just love the layout.
