Lago Vista Golf Course

Who would have thought that Lago Vista would have the BEST winter golf course in the $50-80 per player range in Central Texas?

Myself and my wife are avid golfers and get in two or more games a week in a 70 mile circle around Austin Texas. As we drove up to Lago Vista last weekend we were totally shocked at seeing fully green fairways, roughs, tee boxes, and greens. Everywhere else we've golfed hav dead fairways, dead roughs, barely alive tee boxes, and greens that have micro-mountains.

The gas powered carts are fully maintained and have all the power you need for a fully loaded golf care when you tackle one of the many hills on the course.

The Grounds Keepers should be proud of their course.

The only problem we have is the extra-super small practice ball bucket you get with your GolfNow.com purchase. There was just over 20 balls in there. Really????

What a great round at a great course! I really enjoyed the abundance of wildlife (deer, quail, rabbits, etc.) that call this beautiful course their home.

I always enjoy the course but it was over booked 5 + hr. round takes the fun out of it

Nice course, nice layout. Have played here many times. Course was in nice condition for this time of the year. Really enjoy playing here, actually playing here again tomorrow. Deer are plentiful.

For being January the course was in excellent condition! Needs more yardage help but hey I should probably buy a range finder as well. Good course, will definitely be coming back!

My dad, Brother and I have been playing Lago for years. Cheap...beautiful views....challenging but not too tough. Would be difficult to walk.... Pops describes it as a "billy Goat Course"....thats why they have gas carts..... enjoy it like we do.

First time playing this course in 20 years. Really enjoyed the course, weather & hospitality. Scenery is beautiful. For the average golfer the course is enjoyable.

Enjoyed the scenery. Course was in great condition. Just a bit intimated by the deer on the course, did not want to hit one. I would have cried. Overall just beautiful.

fairways were wet and the grass was long, played longer, where did all this wetness come from [no rain in the last 3 weeks], the greens were a little on the slow side, nice layout on the holes with doglegs and elevation changes, unfortunately we were following a ladies outing , enough said, lots of deer

Great views, very leisurely, great course for the price.

Overall my experience is great. The greens were a little slow but it's in nicer shape than it was a few months ago.

I enjoyed the course and staff friendliness. I especially enjoyed the views on the 9th and 15th holes.

We'll kept golf course with friendly pro shop employee. Loved the roaming deer. Great lay out with a couple of challenging holes. Will definite come back!!!

Course was in pretty good shape -- despite drought and the lake being so far down, it's well watered; one should appreciate their effort, especially for how much you're paying. If you should get paired up with a regular, take in all the local knowledge you can get out of them -- greens are large, and with only rudimentary yardage information, you're liable to add a half dozen strokes to your score through misclubbing. Bunker conditions are also a problem. Overall, though, you're getting a good deal for your round, and there are some fun holes and nice views.

I called the golf shop and asked if the course was in good shape. They answered with Yes, its if great shape. It is a 1.5 hour drive for me to get there. Upon arriving, I found the fairways, tee boxes and other areas, havent been mowed in quite sometime. Also, alot of bare spots on fairways.
A perfect drive (I had many), would be followed up by hitting out of the dirt or tall rough in the center of fairway. False advertising!

A great course that offers challenges for beginners as well as advanced players. The course is always kept in very good condition even in the heat of the summer fairways are still in excellent condition. Greens are always kept nice as well. Staff is always friendly and accommodating. Definitely well worth the drive and your time!
