Ironwood Golf Course
About
Ironwood Golf Club has the distinction of being named one of Golf Digest's "Best Places to Play." Owned by the city of Gainesville, this popular course hosts more than 50 tournaments year. The course winds through a scenic landscape covered with century-old pines and sparkling lakes. Don't be surprised if you're joined by the wildlife that calls the course home, which includes deer and wild turkeys. The layout will keep you guessing with interesting twists and turns. The elevated greens have dramatic drops from front to back, making them a challenge to read. There are strategically placed bunkers throughout Ironwood Golf Club, as well as thick rough along the fairways. The obstacles combined with some tricky doglegs will make you think twice about swinging the driver too freely. Strategy, not strength, is the key to doing well on this course.

Tight fairways
This was my second round at this course which was just as enjoyable. If it were not for the slow pase it would of been a perfect day!
Long par fives, very good.
I would recommend this course to anyone. It's good very all levels, for all skills.
Fun Golf Course
I have played this course over the years and seen it when it was in bad shape. This golf course is in better shape now than ever. The staff is very friendly as well.
Solid local spot, rough summer conditions
Ironwood is a great deal for students especially with the Golf Now Hotdeals happening. The summer always brings with it lots of rain at certain points and lots of heat and humidity at others. The conditions were a little rough around the edges and the fairways were pretty dry. The greens are pretty tricky and with so much heat, they were clearly a little beat up. Overall, Ironwood isn't and probably will never be in the condition of Mark Bostick (UF) course considering they just put in new greens and bunkers but for roughly half the price it's a good deal. Great service, friendly people, and cheaper range balls than at the UF course.
OK course in town with very little else to offer
Of the TWO regulation public courses in the county (not counting the par 60 place) Ironwood is by far the better of the two options. While it's not spectacular, the course is in pretty decent shape, and there are good practice areas as well. There are much better options if I want to drive another 20 minutes (for the same cost or even less) south of here, but I keep coming here fairly regularly, so that must say something good about the place
Gainesville's Best Public Course
Really good course. In good condition and they have a friendly staff. Best place in Gainesville to play for the general public and one of the best overall as well.
Nice Course, a bit ovepriced
I was told Ironwood was a nice, scenic course. It did not disappoint. The course was is solid conditions, especially amidst all of the rain that the area has had over the last few weeks.
I am disappointed in the normal cost of round. While I purchased my round on GolfNow for $25 at a 33% off rate, that is a bit high for a public course it seems.
I would say that it was worth the price, but I probably wont play there again for more than that ($25).
Great bargain
Ironwood continues to offer great value for the money. Course is in good shape and the greens are still fairly good. Staff is always great.
nice course
course played well it was raining for 9 of the 18 holes so the greens got very slow. wonderful wildlife would definetly play again.
Long course
Ironwood is a relatively long course. The greens were in good shape and rolled true. On a few holes it was difficult to distinguish the fairway from rough when close to the edge. Overall a nice place to spend an afternoon.
Course that fits the price
For the price you pay. You can't beat ironwood. Greens were sluggishly slow, but most of them were in very good shape. Friendly staff and rangers helped a slow play issue. Highly recommend
Great Fun
Love this course ever since the remodel.
I wish I could play more.
back up to par
its been a couple months since i played here and i was really disappointed last time, everything seemed uncared for. maybe the warmer weather helped it, but the difference is night and day. the greens are fuller and greener, fairways all mowed, and most of the tee boxes are clean. Just immaculate compared to a short time ago. ill be back soon!
Greens in below average condition
Speed on each green is different. The unusual
winter has taken its toll on the course. Usually
in better condition. Hopefully, things will get
better in a few weeks.
Excellent value
Course was in very good condition. Greens had been recently treated and dressed when we played but they were still good. Pin positions made some greens very tricky. Fairways were excellent. A very pretty course with lots of narrow tree lined fairways. A fair test for all golfers. Staff very helpful and friendly. Excellent vale.
Nice course
Even after torrential rain last wk, course was in good shape. Played 18 in just under 4 hours with a group in front of us.
Great Value. Aim away from the trees.
Great Public course. The course is in great shape. Mother nature will eat your golf balls. Bring extra balls.
The course will be great soon
The people at the golf course are friendly and very helpful, just need to wait mother nature out, played on a day the rain was very bad which made the course very wet, was not able to get a entire round in and the course gave us a rain check. look forward to playing the course soon in better weather!
honest course
a very nice place to play, greens where nice staff was really nice, every thing was kept really clean
Disappointing
Greens were covering with sand, rough and impossible to putt on. Fairways were wet and had very little grass. I would not recommend this course.
