Green Valley Ranch Golf Club
About
Along with a nine-hole, par-3 course, Green Valley Ranch Golf Club also offers an 18-hole championship length course. Designed by Perry Dye, the course is 7,241 yards at its longest tees and plays to a par of 72. The course is a short distance south of the Denver International Airport and downtown Denver is easily accessible. The course is challenging and also scenic; it is not a rare occurrence to see wildlife such as deer on the course. Dye successfully incorporated the natural landscape of the area. The natural creeks and wetlands as well as the beautiful cottonwood trees were kept in tact. The course has received several honors from widely read golf magazines such as Golf Digest and Golf Week.

Enjoying the course... Photo submitted by Williamsed on 11/10/2012
Great day on the Links.
Very nice day and a pleasant round. We enjoyed the day and course was in good shape. I have played here many times and it is always a good place to play.
Off to a rough start this year
Some rough spots in the fairway, greens are patchy and inconsistent. Overall, off to a rough Spring this year. Still a great place to measure your game.
Ok, so I've been waiting to write a review on this because there weren't a lot of current ones and not to many descriptions so here we go. Great clubhouse with well stocked pro shop. Driving is nice with range balls already on the range for you and I believe they were Callaway range balls. Huge putting green and chipping area. The started will call you up for your tee time and get you and your group together before sending you to first tee. Now the course, nobody said anything but this is a very open course. Almost every hole has houses on them and there aren't many trees, it kinda has a links style to it. You can see multiple holes at once from wherever you are. Bent grass fairways were nice, the greens can be good, I could tell they aerated a while ago bc some of the indentions were still in the green but those will be going away like always. Great layout, directions to holes were easily marked, carts have GPS and they have multiple tees and on the scorecard it gives you different tee combinations so I think it comes out to like 7 or 8 different tees. Also had a beverage cart going around on a Wednesday so that was a nice surprise. Overall great course, the wind was like 20mph and it whips through this open layout but that's part of the challenge on a windy day right? Give this one a shot and you won't be disappointed
Green Valley Ranch is a Gem
This is a great course, very challenging, nice practice facility and the best 18th hole in Colorado
A challenging course in the wind! Still fun
This was a windy day, with gusts to 35mph they said. Yet, the mild temps drew us out. The folks at the course were great. They even told us the par 3 was included for the price and might be a good warm up. It was.
Well, this regulation course bares its teeth with such wind. Significant adjustments were required for shots into the wind, like on #8 from 166, a 200 yard club was short by 20 yards! and on #13 from ~170y, a 230 y club was required to get pin high! #18 is a great finishing hole! Stay left! Check your under your ball on the greens, durn, as there are winter dimples that will affect your delicate putts.
Still, the course was in good shape, the staff was super friendly, and this is a fun day that is worth the extra drive.
great course
one of the top tracks in town. best value in town. play it.
Meh...
This course gets a lot of acclaim, but frankly I wasn't impressed. NIce conditions as the seasons were changing and winds were picking up, but aside from that not sure what all the fuss is about. Lots of other layouts I would choose over this one.
home of the colorado open
This is a great course, very challenging, greens had been punched recently but ran true and with good speed.
Challenging Beauty
Played it for the first time in a recent trip to Denver. Loved every bit of it!! Course conditions were phenomenal. Greens were pretty firm and fast but putts rolled true every time. Every green was in perfect condition. The fairways were lush and well kept. I don't think ever saw a brown spot or chewed up grass area. The rough was real rough, long but very fair. The layout is challenging but fair, just need to know where you can take your tee shots. GPS in cart helps with that and was as accurate to every pin as my rangefinder was.
Very professionally run course. They announced tee times and instead of saying "now up on the tee..., second up..., third up..." They called each group and said this is your 8 minute call to check in with the starter. Only had to wait briefly on a couple tees and finished the round in a little over 4 hours.
One tip is to book on their website as there is a definite discount to be had there. Overall I can't wait to play it again.
I think this must be for the championship 18 hole course. You can't drive a cart on the par 3. Fairways don't really pertain to par 3s. They wouldn't call people for the par 3s.
Fantastic course. Great location for the airport on getaway day!
We played this course on an early morning after playing 7 rounds over the previous 3 days in Nebraska and GVR, while lacking the isolation and scenery of the sandhills, was not out of place with those courses.
As we played it only a week or two after the NCAAA Div II tourney, the greens were still in great shape and were the best greens either of us have putted on this year. They were true and pacey. Smooth and quick for a public course.
The routing itself is solid, with only one overly quirky/silly hole; the short par 4 16th. Otherwise it was a very good mix of long/short holes, that changed orientation enough to effectively mix up the wind direction for the holes.
Would absolutely recommend this course. I am sure if you are a Denver resident you already know it's a top notch track, but for other out-of-towners like ourselves also note it's proximity to the airport. It really is only 15 mins to the car rental return and terminal.
This description is probably for the championship 18 course, since there is no 16th hole on the 9 hole par 3.
a fun and fast round
Thanks to winds gusting over 30 mph, I was able to enjoy a quick and challenging round at one of my favorite Colorado courses - Green Valley Ranch.
The golf shop appeared to be under major reconstruction, but I was greeted by a friendly pro that got me set up and on to the tee in no time.
Considering the time of year, the conditions were excellent. Especially the true and fast greens!
I'm looking forward to many more rounds here this summer with a little less wind.
note: It snowed 20 inches in Denver the next day!
Love this course
Green valley ranch is one of my favorites in the greater Denver area. Excellent amenities with range balls and gps included. Course is typically in great condition, and was really good for winter time. Excited to play this course more often this year.
Great course
I have played literaly thosands of courses and this is up in my top twenty of all time. Great layout except i dont like hole 16 very much. Great course though!!!
Again, this writeup is probably for the championship course, since there is no 16th hole on the 9 hole par 3.
cold (November) castomer service
we booked 4some on golfnow, 12:20 time. When we arrived at 11:40 and went to pay, guys told us that they have delay 45 min. When I asked if they surprised that it was 28 degrees at night(which is normal for Denver at this time of the year) he blamed on mother-nature but not on course management who still opened early t-times. I understand that golf is a business but should be knowledge and common sense. They new that any group after 12:30 12:45 has no chance to finish on time and still sell t-times. Shame. We finished only 14 holes and after when I asked him for 9 hole rain-check he refused and told me that I already got a good discounted deal. This is absurd- I could just buy and play 9 holes. Poor customer
service!
Again, this comments is probably for the championship 18 hole course and should be moved. There is no 16th hole on the 9 hole par 3.
The day before the first SNOW
Was a great day, Good weather and finished before the rain started. The round took 3.5 hours and was a little backed up on the back
This should be linked to the regulation course, not the par 3 course. Darn!
