Best course for your money
My wife and I played today and I must say it was amazing. The staff were great and very helpful with everything.
The course was in amazing shape and the pace of play was very relaxing. There was nobody in front on us and no one behind us pushing us along. Which was amazing for a Sunday afternoon tee time.
This has become our favorite course and would recommend it to anyone.
Pleasantly surprised
Going in, I was not very exciting considering the price point. I assumed it would be in bad shape like most courses around the area. I was wrong!! Tee boxes, fairways and greens were in great shape! Had a really fun time navigating the course! Will definitely go back again
Course management
I was extremely disappointed with the course management. 90-degree heat and zero water on the course. At one point on hole #6, there was 5 groups waiting. We called the clubhouse to let them know and their response was, we'll take care of it. Didn't happen, we had to wait on every hole.
Winter conditions
The course is being worked on on multiple holes. A lot of mud and soggy fairway to contend with. There isn’t a clear answer as to where you can drive a cart and where you cannot (some areas are roped off).
I am certain this course will play differently during peak season, but currently I would wait for those issues to get better before attempting a round.
Kearney Hills Feb 2024
For the time of year, the course was in fabulous shape and the greens were true and it was very dry.
Not worth the money
Tee boxes are very rough and the fairway had not been cut in awhile. Not worth $40 to play on a weekend. Only thing that was good were the greens
Showing Some Age
We hadn't played here in a few years (since they quit using GolfNow). It was then one of our favorite "close to home," "subdivision" courses.
Although the amenities are vastly improved (swimming pool, restrooms, restaurant, etc.) the course is no longer getting the professional attention it needs: the fairways need mowing; the bunkers are hard and weedy; and the greens are beginning to dry out.
In addition, you now have to tee off over several yards of rough before getting to the fairway on a couple of holes.
Pace of play was hampered by a grandfather teaching a grandson the subtleties of the game, one of which was not allowing faster players to play through.
It's still a challenging course with many good points, just not the ones that will entice us to play there again.
Couple’s golf.
First time at Canewood, the staff were very friendly answering questions about the course and giving us tips on what tee boxes to play. The course has doglegs, elevation changes and tree lined fairways. Fairways are in good condition, greens are good with some shuttle breaks, only downside are the sand traps. If I’m every back in Georgetown again I’ll play there. Also the bar and restaurant are in an Historic home built By John Payne and the course is on the 500 acres he settled in the early 1800’s. Thanks again pro shop staff!
