Worth the drive from Las Vegas

Great layout, good greens with undulations, great scenery with mountains in the background. Only issue was the front nine had lots of construction around the course (they were building condos/homes), so things were dirty/gritty and not pleasant to look at. That will all be resolved when construction done. Back nine, on the other hand, was surrounded by homes - and no construction.

Met Expectations

Overall the course was in great condition. Great practice areas. The only down side was not being allowed to use the driving range due to them having it closed for most of the day on Tuesdays so they can mow the range.

Slow play was ridiculous

The greens and fairways were in nice shape but this is offset by all the constrction going on. The construction comes right up to some of the cart paths so it is part of the course.

The pace of play was horrible. The staff was friendly and courteous allowing groups to play as slow as they wanted. There were also 2 fivesomes in front of my group. The 2 guys i played with quit after 9 so i played 2 more holes and threw in the towel.

I won’t go back.

FUN!

We had wind and a very cool day, but everything else makes this seem like a great outing. There is not much ey candy with a lot of construction on the front nine.

I would love to play it on a nice arm day.

Challenges all your game

Front side is Nicholas design; long, not straight, bunkers and multiple pin placements. The back is completely different; shorter but less open, water, waste areas with landing area challenges. The course was in great shape although the greens had some infestation. The adjacent property is being developed so expect this great course will be more expensive in the coming years. Enjoy it. We certainly did.

Good course and great staff

My wife and I played this course on a very windy day which was a bit of a challenge considering all the dust from construction going on around it (new homes), but we really liked the course and the layout. In a senior moment, I actually drove off and left my clubs at the bag drop by accident. I didn't discover this until the next day. As it turns out, the staff had taken our clubs inside and kept them for me which was very much appreciated.

As good as advertised

I really enjoyed this course. Great variety of holes and excellent conditions. The double greens are genius! Play before all the new construction goes up as it looks like it is going to be pretty close to in play.

Bunkers, bunkers, bunkers and SLOW PLAY

Nice conditions, staff are exceptionally nice, nice design of the course. Some holes have 2 greens which is pretty unique. One gripe is that the Nicklaus Design front 9 is overly tricked out with bunkers. And just for clarity, I played from the white tees and it punished me severely for using my driver. Expect to find bunkers from 200-230 (IE. typical landing area for typical length players) from the white tees and on several holes at the very narrowest part of the fairway also. Overall I played from the bunkers 11 times in my round and it was a real grind. Back 9 played a lot better with plenty of bunkers but it seemed to play a lot more fair. The really safe way to play the front 9 is to NOT hit your driver on many holes which takes away the fun of playing golf. And golf most of all should be FUN.

Now the real elephant in the room....the pace of play. It was HORRIBLE on saturday afternoon. Waiting on every shot and we did not finish. I could clearly see groups ahead were marking balls for foot long putts with no urgency at all. Marshalls on course but didn't really do anything about it. Sad because 17 is a gorgeous hole and 18 looked nice from the drive in at dark.

You have marshalls on the course. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Having to wait on every shot is by far THE WORST EXPERIENCE in golf and given that, I will not be back even though the course and staff are good overall and the value is outstanding.

Many Things To Like About Mountain Falls

I love Mountain Falls. It's in great condition, it's as hilly as you will find in the desert, and the people are great. What I like most is the fact that the two nines were designed by different companies - Nicklaus Group designed the front nine, Cal Olson designed the back. They play differently, with the front more open but with more fairway traps in play and more difficult greens, and the back playing more narrow but with easier greens. Overall I never get tired of playing Mountain Falls.

Best Course in the Vegas area and nice drive to get there

Mountain Falls offer the best to every level of player. Greens, tee boxes and fairways are meticulously cared for. Pro and staff are the most friendly people anywhere. Playing groups seem to move well and the course was well marshaled.

Food and beverage service available at the turn and meals in the clubhouse are great.

Best value, best people, fun town afterwards and easy accommodation if you want to stay over. You have not played quality, country club style golf, until you have played Mountain Falls. See you again soon.

3 playing-riding 3 to a cart-playing out of 2 bags

Very slow play. Slow 4some then 3some 3 playing and riding 3 in ONE cart with 2 bags then us (2some). We could not play through so we told the starter/ranger that passed us about the problem. He told us he would talk to them on the turn (9th hole). Nothing changed and we were even more disappointed the back 9.

Traveling from Las Vegas is a challenge, and we expect not to be further challenged by 3 playing golfers to a cart with 2 bags that could not/would not play through leading 4some.

Great course away from Vegas

Great course, in great condition or being the end of January. The greens were difficult, very fast and lots of movement. Pretty, in a beautiful setting, with only construction around the course impacting a perfect setting. There was no construction on a Saturday, so no noise issues, but they are putting in infrastructure to handle the building of all the houses. It didn't detract from the experience however. Nice pro shop, and a really nice restaurant. Staff were very friendly and very helpful. Very fair price, we will definately go play again when we come to the Vegas area.

Mountain

Great first experience playing MF. Have already recommended to friends so will definitely go back. Front nine more wide. Open than back nine.

Only thing concerning is all the new housing starts. Hoping this will not diminish the golf experience.
