Canoa Ranch
Decent golf course.
I only checked recommend to get out and swing your clubs.
Staff is good, restaurant & bar is good.
It would be so much better if sand traps actually had sand in them.
Always hesitant to bring out of town guests here because sand traps are total embarrassment. Dirt with pebbles and some rocks bigger than your golf ball.
I play as a single by here but usually take out of town guests into Tucson for better course conditions.
Canoa Ranch
Among the most demanding 6100 yard course I have ever played in 60+ years of golf. A lot of forced carries of 175-185 yards . Very fair layout. Only negative was the green side bunkers which need to be removed or designated as ground under repair.
Poor shape
Greens are best up, sand bunkers should be called rock bunkers. 5 hour round, paired up with three golfers. Two shared out of the same bag. Two beginners who know nothing about golf and the father giving instructions to them. Female behind the cash register knows nothing about being professional let alone no personality
Slow today
This is the only time I’ve had slow play here. The front 9 took over 4.5 hrs, the back nine was faster.
Rocks in sand traps
Fairways and greens are barely playable. Sand traps are rock traps. Play all traps as ground under repair because they need major work and a lot of sand. This, and sister course Torres, are great golf courses with bad management. You will not see my group back at either until that changes. In addition, if you are a Golfnow user you are treated as a third citizen. Great courses - bad management - go elsewhere. Canoa Ranch is a resort you should think about avoiding.
I think it is ridiculous when you go to check in and they tell you you are 10 minutes early and you have to come back in 10 minutes to check in I stood there for 10 minutes waiting to speak to the clerk and then she told me I couldn’t check in I had to come back in 10 minutes very inconvenient
Great Course
I love this course. Not an easy one but just a beautiful Arizona style course with mountain vistas. I slways brng my guests to this course...price is right!
NO SAND TRAPS!!!!!
The fairways and the greens were good especially after overseeding. The sand traps are so they are called We're ridiculous. No sand and nothing but rocks and ruts. We didn't even try to hit out of them. Outside of that, the course was in good condition. They really need to concentrate on repairing the sand traps
Wish they’d spend some money
I love the architecture, the routing and the views. I hate the bunkers filled with rocks and mud. We moved our balls out of all bunkers so we didn’t damage our clubs.
There are no marshals and the group in front of our twosome was a fivesome and playing slowly at that. The friendly beverage cart lady called the clubhouse and they phoned the group and told them to split up. Pace of play improved significantly after that.
This could be the best course in Green Valley if they made some reasonably large multi-year investments. Until then make sure you get a hot deal on Golfnow or go play San Ignacio just up the road.
Bad conditions
The course was in awful condition 😡 Bunkers we’re washed out with large rocks and puddles in them, we played them
as ground under repair as they were literally unplayable. Greens were very slow and patchy. Would not recommend
playing golf at this course.
Great views
This is one of the best golf courses in Green Valley. My only complaint is the so called sand trap.
