StoneRidge Golf Course
About
Elevation changes are the name of the game here with swings from the tees that could make the most even-keeled soul feel Vertigo. The drop from tee to the fairways is as steep as 350 feet. The stretch of 12 through 15 is particularly height challenging. Designer Randy Heckenkemper likes to compare his course his course to a roller coaster. This for a high season $55 greens fee that wouldn't even be enough to get a ticket into some amusement parks.

One of the best
I’ve lived in Arizona all my life (32 years) and I’ve never gone to Prescott from Phoenix to play stone ridge and let me tell you what a mistake that’s been. This is the wolf creek of Arizona and one of the best in Arizona! If you live anywhere near Phoenix or Prescott you need to get on this course!
Two awesome rounds at this beautiful course.
I travel from Phoenix to enjoy this course. The weather is cooler but I would go play in super warm temperatures. The layout is wonderful as it preserves the beauty of the desert.
Chicken salad sandwich is delicious.
Staff is always friendly and helpful. If you want a positive, fun experience, go play!
Stoneridge
Stone ridge is a fun course. I enjoy teeing off from the side of a canyon. Challenging course but love to play. Good to play in summer time when Phoenix and Scottsdale areas are so hot. Love Prescott restaurants!
Steamy Sunday morning
Everything was great. Would have liked to have a Beverage cart on the course on a Sunday.
Greens
Hole after hole cut out into the side of a hill or hitting par 3's from high elevation make this course extremely challenging. The problem are the greens! They were VERY bad. Being punched in the last two weeks is no excuse for the grass on the greens being higher than the fringe on most courses. If they can get the greens even in average condition, this would be a must play course. Pace of play was also 4 and a half hours.
Scenic Cours
This is their off season, so two of us played in just over 3 hours. Lot of hills and there are great distances between greens to the next tees. The greens were a little fluffy, but consistent. It’s not long from the whites, but the fairways are narrow in places. It’s one of the prettiest and best kept courses that you can play for the price. We had lunch after our round and the restaurant was pleasant with a nice menu. If we pass through this way again, I would definitely give it another shot.
A great summer escape spot
This was my second visit to Stoneridge. While it wasn’t in the pristine condition we found it in last summer the layout and weather made it a great day. The course is challenging and very fun to navigate. They recently punched the greens and it showed but the price also reflected the conditions. Overall a great day. Will be back later in the summer to escape the heat in Phoenix.
Very nice course, cant wait to play it again in better weather conditions in prime season.
BEAUTIFUL!
Difficult carries but the course is beautiful. Lots of uphill shots & some blind shots but thoroughly enjoyed.
Target Golf
This is a very scenic course. It winds it way through the hills and offers some really nice views. Having said that it also offers some tough holes. Significant ups and downs and a need to hit specific areas. Practice area is very good, range, short game and putting areas. Staff was very friendly. Did not eat there, but the bar/restaurant looks nice and has a patio that looks over the 9th hole. Would be much more difficult on a windy day.
Course in OK shape nothing to write home about. However pace of play was terrible, 5 hours for a twosome, no ranger out moving groups along. And found out after round from the bag drop, no carts came in for a hour, so could have been fixed if they cared about pace of play
Awesome
Drove up from Phoenix for a mid week afternoon round. Awesome course!!
The course was in really good shape. Follow the book or signs at the holes. It is club selection course. It can be windy in the afternoon. Overall, it was a great time and the views were spectacular.
Not a fan of course layout.
Disappointed after reading other reviews as course maintenance was public course standard. Carts were old. Teeing areas were unkept and not well marked. Greens just average. Bring a gps because all you get is a 150 marker pole and a course layout booklet. Hilly course and several of the very uphill holes were closed to carts on fairway so prepare to walk uphill and back and forth to cart without knowing yardage. Lots of blind shots with many runoffs meaning lost balls. Not a fan of this type of layout and first time through will be difficult and confusing even seasoned players. Just my opinion.
Prescott's gem
David met our car at the bag drop and had all the information we needed. The practice areas were just right in size and not too far from the 1st tee. They space the groups well as we only slowed once at hole 17 and once on 18 but were never pushed by the group behind. The elevation changes and unique course design due to terrain made for a fun golf experience. The greens held true and the fairways were in good condition. All of our foursome look forward to coming back.
Slow pace
Very slow pace for a Monday morning in 95 degree heat. The round took almost 5 and a half hours in 95 degree heat. Had to wait for every shot. Other than that, the course is one of the scenic and most challenging I've ever played. I hope to play again
First time, won't be the last
This was our first time on this course and it was a perfect round. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. Course was challenging. Lots of blind shots. Next time we play here, we will know where to hit certain shots. We will defenitley be back to play this wonderful course.
A risk and reward course if you hit your shots
Tons of elevation changes up and down. Played the whites which are only 5800 but still had to hit certain shots. The forced carry’s are reasonable and the fairways lush. The greens are a little slow but consistent and once you get use to them they roll true. There are two or three tricked holes where someone with local knowledge can help you aim your tee shots. The traps are pretty decent, were some rocks in a couple bunkers I found. I love the 18th hole the best! That 2nd or 3rd shot is a blast
Hard course, but fun.” Enjoyed the course layout.
Staff was friendly. No cart service, though. They should tell you that before you start.
Will return to play.
Best of The Boulders Package
Totally agree, it is target golf and you need to know where your target is. Lots of blind run offs. If your game is sharp you can play this course if not bring a lot of balls!
