StoneRidge Golf Course
About
Elevation changes are the name of the game here with swings from the tees that could make the most even-keeled soul feel Vertigo. The drop from tee to the fairways is as steep as 350 feet. The stretch of 12 through 15 is particularly height challenging. Designer Randy Heckenkemper likes to compare his course his course to a roller coaster. This for a high season $55 greens fee that wouldn't even be enough to get a ticket into some amusement parks.

Great Course!
Beautiful layout, friendly staff and a challenging course. The ONLY minor issue is the greens are coming back from being punched. (No Biggee)
Not a Level Lie to be Found
Course was plugged and greens sanded, so we picked a bad time of year. Challenging layout. Carry over desert/arroyos required on every hole. Course is carved through canyons. Lots and lots of elevation changes. Many narrow fairways. Lots of blind shots. Course management is a must, which is tough for first time playing it. Definitely not boring!
Cold Windy day
Cold windy day. tee off at 11:00 am with no one in front or behind. great pace.
Bunkers were perfect shape with fresh sand.
greens were winter condition. little rough in spots but not bad. some tee boxes - gold tees were really poor shape but good overall.
course is tough in good conditions but cold and wind - wow ! adds 10 points to the slope. pin placement was on the easy side so that helped alot.
fairways were punched recently. lots of mud plugs around greens. should have been cheaper
Stoneridge Golf
Great course. Tough and interesting. Very nice staff. Great value.
Must play again
Very friendly staff. Dave checked me in and was very helpful. Get there early and use the range and warm up it's a very nice facility. You will need the practice since the course is challenging. The starter had some good pointers on where to play your shots on certain holes. I played the tips and his advice was helpful. The course has great mountain views and mountain effects that make your shot placement very important to score well. The concrete cart paths make this place 1st class in my book. I will be back soon. Highly recommend this course.
Great course
Lots of elevation changes and dog legs. Great course, a must do if you like courses that are not flat and boring.
All up hill from here
Great challenging track. Not for the novice golfer who can’t keep it straight. Course management is everything with this and the course book they provide is a “must read”.
Enjoyed playing it. The staff were friendly, the food was great. We played on a weekday so course was not busy. We were never held up or pushed.
Challenging course that you will enjoy
We love the course and scenery but be prepared to lose a few balls. Okay, maybe a lot of balls ...
We were lucky enough to have our after round drinks paid for by a woman who got a hole-in-one on #12- a hole that some of us found tough!
Nice, helpful staff, too!
This course should be on every golfers "bucket list"!
Pro Shop Staff is dedicated to keeping the tee sheet running on time while considering players wishes with pairings. Dan is always patient during phone calls for reservations. The outside staff is very friendly and helpful. At this time some golf carts could use some TLC repairs. I love playing this course when the weather 80 degrees or higher. Bring extra golf balls to this awesome course.
Fantastic Condition
Course was in fantastic condition. Tee boxes, fairways and greens all perfect. Little expensive for the area but certainly the best public course outside of Phx. Layout is a little quirky. You need distance control and accuracy for this course. Yardage book a must. 2 holes 600yds is very odd for public course but total yes is only 6,300 (gold)
Cold waters every third hole.
No GPS on carts.
Bunkers were decent shape.
I'll return at hopefully lower cost.
Short but tuff
This course is amazing. Was surprised how hard it was with how short it was. A 132 slope with a yardage around 6100 is amazing to me. The course is in great shape a couple muddy spots but that's to be expected. The pace of play was great never saw a soul out there until number 18. The golf shop and restaurant are beautiful. The gentleman working outside jumped up and took our bags out of the vehicle and when we finished cleaned our bags and loaded us up in record time! I would play this course every time I visit Prescott area. The course has some tuff holes but if you can keep it in the fairway you'll have a fun time. It's target golf at its best.
Challenging course and big greens
Course is beautiful and in very good condition. Need to play it a second time to really understand where to hit your shots.
BEWARE OF PHIL
BEWARE OF PHIL!! Played the course on a beautiful day with my son and got chased off the 18th hole by PHIL the course sheriff. Apparently there is a specific time to have the carts back to the clubhouse so PHIL can get home to his pretty maiden before dinner gets cold. No one mentioned this at the clubhouse when we paid our green fee for a full 18 holes and there was still an hour of light left when PHIL demanded we leave the course. Reported the issue to the nice waiter at the restaurant who said we would address the issue with the staff. We left our phone number but nobody called to apologize. With so many great choices to play golf in the area, we will never return to Stoneridge. But if you do, be very aware of PHIL!!!
Great
Great course and challenging. Bring some extra balls you may loose a few.
A good challenge. Must hit fairways as there is very little forgiveness for errant shots. You will loose some balls but will find way more than you loose.
Scenery can't be beat. Lots of elevation change.
Staff was very accomadating and friendly.
Great views
This course was a gem. A little windy but fun to play. Great amenities, friendly staff, and pace of play was good. We'll worth a golf day trip from the valley. Looking forward to plying it again.
Fantastic picturesque course
Phoenix area golfers, you have to make the 90 minute drive to this course. Every hole has beautiful backgrounds and lots of elevation changes from tee to green. Remember to bring your straight game though, as there is out of bounds desert on both sides of every fairway.
