StoneRidge Golf Course
About
Elevation changes are the name of the game here with swings from the tees that could make the most even-keeled soul feel Vertigo. The drop from tee to the fairways is as steep as 350 feet. The stretch of 12 through 15 is particularly height challenging. Designer Randy Heckenkemper likes to compare his course his course to a roller coaster. This for a high season $55 greens fee that wouldn't even be enough to get a ticket into some amusement parks.

Greens
Course was great, except hey just punched the greens. Nothing online said this. Because of that the greens were HORRIBLE as they were hokey and very sandy. Price should have reflected.
Remainder of he course was great and the staff was very friendly. I would go back again as it was a fun round, just wish that something has been said about the greens. Drove two hours for this. Would recommend the course
If you're in Prescott, check this course out.
Drove from Scottsdale to play this course. Forgot about elevation and temperature differences. At tad cool when starting out and had to buy a sweater at the pro shop (pretty good deal, by the way). Staff greeted us with such a friendly and engaging attitude I thought I was a movie star.
Golf was great, with a number of holes offering sloping fairways and tough little bunkers. Vistas on the course were stunning.
Overall, a pretty good day. Thanks guys.
Beautiful Course, bring extra balls
Love this course, beautiful and challenging.
Great course very fun. Nice views also.
Played this course 2 weeks ago and had a blast so I had to come back & play it again on Saturday. I must say the course is in very great condition for this time of the year. Greens rolled great. Very friendly staff and check in was a breeze. Cart path was fun to drive also haha you'll find out what I mean when you play this course. I drive out from Winslow, AZ which is 150 miles away and the trip is totally worth it. My favorite so far. Have fun and bring plenty of balls if you game isn't straight.
Unusual and challenging course
This course has changed over the last 5 years. There are plenty of homes now in sight. Every hole is a challenge and unique. If you like being in wide open spaces cracking the ball this is fantastic. The cart paths between holes are quite long and they go up and down elevations. There is a lot of out of bounds and you WILL lose a few balls that are unfindable. It is a unique and challenging course ~ so a must for the adventurous golfer. Have a great time.
not worth the time or drive
drove up from phoenix to play this course, not worth my time or effort pace of play very slow waited on every tee box after the 2nd hole,no marshall at all,no beverage cart, fairways and the areas around the greens had been punched and on some fairways the plugs still in laying there, otherwise course is very nice and the staff in the pro shop very friendly towards my group...we played in over 4 hours and 15 minutes but it seemed a lot longer due to the waiting on every tee box
Spectacular
A very unique and challenging layout. I loved it even tho it didn't really suit my game. Fairways were great and greens very nice for this time of year. Worth the drive from Goodyear and look forward to coming again.
Thank you for the great 4 Star Review and thank you for making the drive to come out and play our course! We look forward to seeing you out on the greens again soon!
Great course
Great course, great people
We really appreciate the wonderful 5 star review! Thank you for coming out and playing StoneRidge!
All it needs is warm weather...
Stoneridge has long been my favorite in the Prescott area as it represents a very challenging layout that is reminiscent of many desert style courses you will find in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. Every tee ball requires some kind of a forced carry over the desert and scrub brush, even if for only 50-100 yards, it is always there. This is very much a target course despite the yardages indicating it is open for bombers as many of the landing areas funnel towards trouble.
If you play the tips, you'll quickly realize that a lot of the yardage differential is made up on the Par 3's, however #9 & #13 stick out in my mind as having some of larger differences as well.
The staff has always been extremely friendly. Scott will generally meet you at the club drop off point before teeing off and is always a pleasure to speak with. The renovated grill area looks amazing and they have significantly upgraded their food menu and beer selection without putting the pinch on their customers.
My overall review would be higher, however I was very disappointed in the greens during our round today. The head greenskeeper seemed to cave to pressures around late season tournaments, which pushed the verification schedule into mid to late November. As Prescott sees snow and colder temps in the winter months, this means that even as of today the greens still splashed with sand when hit from about any distance. Once on the greens, they were EXTREMELY slow and it was hard to keep putts on line that didn't have more pace than necessary to get to the hole. The greens will get better as the weather warms, however they need a good 2-3 weeks with 70+ degree weather and a good cut/roll to get them back to their late season form from 2015.
I'll be back and will look to exact some revenge on the back nine after going 37-41 today.
Thank you so much for all of the feedback! We are so glad to hear that we are your favorite course in the area! We look forward to having you back out on the course!
Best course this year.
Perfect weather. Fairways perfect, greens in perfect condition just a little slow. Our group loved this course. Best course we have played all year.
Glad to hear that you had such great weather playing the course and that you enjoyed your time with us! We hope you will come back in the future and play another round at StoneRidge!
a very good mountain course
played as a twosome went out at twelve thirty finished in three hours and fourty five minutes-- course fairways in great shape greens could be better but as expected it was the fall of the year and still in great shape-- for the dollar value this was a great afternoon of golf.
Thank you for taking time to leave such a great review! We appreciate all feedback that is left regarding the course. We hope you will come out soon and play another round at StoneRidge!
An Amazing Course That Challenges
This gem of a course is simply stunning and awesome. If you have any weaknesses in your game, it will exploit it beyond belief. The entire course was near perfection. With that said, I found it too challenging and nearly unplayable for the bogie golfer. But the views and course would most certainly make your round a pleasant but humbling experience.
Thank you for taking time to leave a review. We are very happy to hear that you found our course stunning! The course can definitely be challenging but hopefully you will still come out and see us again!
All I can say is WOW!WOW!WOWWOW!WOW!
I was compelled to write my first review because it just had to be done! I played by myself so it only took a few hours!..and it's the best kept golf course I have ever played! The fairways were amazing...I felt bad making divots on them. The greens were amazing and the views added a special bonus. I played from the black tees so there was a 247 par 3 downhill into the wind and a 230 par 3 going over a ravine with wind swirling...I could go on and on..it's got some tricky holes so it would help if you have a range finder and the elevation does affect your shots! It was worth the drive today from Tempe..
Thank you for writing this review! It makes us very happy to hear that we are the best kept course you have ever played! Please come out and see us again soon!
great course and views
always a great experience here at stone ridge. staff is fantastic and the course continues to satisfy both scenic beauty and level of difficulty.
review of stoneridge golf course
Very clean well groomed course. Very challenging. Will play here again.
Gorgeous
Very variable terrain and target golf on some holes. Gorgeous views from many holes. Many holes with radical ups and downs and crossing gullies and washes. Fun.
poor pace of play
5 hours of golf because pace of play. no seem to care. Also to many holes closed to carts add to the slow play.To bad was a fun course to play but I won't be back.
Awesome views, awesome layout and with 6 sets of tees. A hidden gem of a course.
Without a GPS on golf carts, it's very very difficult to determine distances, and planned landing zones.
Slopes, angles, constant elevation changes from tee to and including greens are spectacular, but for the average and even better than average golfer it' s very difficult to plan a safe management route. And the consequences of a poor shot choice from the tee or fairway can be (are) disastrous. Fortunately I brought my own GPS. It's too classy a golf facility not to have the GPS aid. Truly slows play. But I can't wait to return!!
challenging but fair
great course with challenging greens and many changes of elevation.Cannot wait to play it again ,being more familiar with layout now.
Great course
Windy day in Prescott. Perfect temperature and playing golf on an excellent course. Other than the strong wind it doesn't get any better. Can't wait to play there again.

Sounds like you are describing golf in Phoenix from January to April
If you say you played in close to 4hrs 15mins, it's hard to understand complaining about the pace of play?
