Old Corkscrew Golf Club
About
Carved from forests of towering oaks and pines, Old Corkscrew Golf Club exhibits all of the superior characteristics that define Nicklaus Signature courses. The absence of houses around the golf course adds to the secluded and peaceful feel that is provided by the dense thickets of trees that surround it. Jack Nicklaus himself was a prominent presence throughout every phase of the course's construction, incorporating well balanced holes that vary in direction, look, and feel. Proper club selection will be greatly rewarded on this golf course. The fast-paced, undulating greens sit up to 20 feet above the lush, rolling fairways, which can create some tricky pin placements if you're not careful. Old Corkscrew Golf Club's fairways are rather generous, but they are framed by carefully sculpted bunkers. Several large ponds come into play on nearly every hole and there are also numerous sand traps strategically placed along the greensides.

Classic Florida Layout!
Great track , challenging but rewarding layout . Calls for lots of different shot selections . Fairways were in perfect condition , with well designed green complexes. One of my favorite courses to play in South Florida. Staff Inside/ outside were super friendly and helpful! Would definitely recommend to anyone!
What a fantastic Golf Experience!
What a great course! Incredible work has been done to make this course the best play in SW Florida. Not only do you get a tremendous layout but also the sense that you are on a golf safari vacation- away from it all. The course can be quite a fun challenge both in length and accuracy, Be prepared to weigh risk reward on many holes and to get "corkscrewed". The course is in great shape and definitely will be out to play again when I am back in town.
Beautiful spot despite poor conditions
It's a beautiful course with a lovely layout. But the course is unfair. You get penalized for really good shots. I wouldn't recommend this course to beginners. The bunkers desperately need to be filled with sand. The greens aren't good. I expected more from this golf course. The pace of play was particularly annoying. We had to wait a long time at every hole and after almost five hours only made it to the 17th hole before it got dark. Our playing partners had already given up! A marshal is urgently needed here!! Due to its condition, especially the greens and bunkers, and the pace of play, I wouldn't play or recommend this course again.
Serenity Now
As soon as we dropped our clubs off, Eric and the outside operations staffs were courteous and friendly even with a packed tee sheet. Zane and the pro shop staff were cordial with a ready smile and a helping hand. Warming up was a treat actually hitting off of grass instead of into an aqua range. Even with a packed tee sheet the rangers kept the pace of play steady finishing in under 4.5 hours while still enjoying the characteristics of each individual hole. Great lies in the fairways and the greens rolled true this early in the season. On the turn the drink specials were phenomenal and the food was made fresh to order. What a great place for a special outing no homes, plenty of wildlife, and swfl nature on a Jack Nicklaus ‘Golden Bear’ signature property.
Not recommended
We played this course again after many years. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. Compared to many other courses we've played in recent weeks, the condition doesn't justify the relatively high price. The greens and bunkers, in particular, are average at best. On the plus side, the surrounding nature is still a plus – no disruptive buildings, no construction noise.
The course remains challenging, and you should choose your tee box carefully. Unfortunately, the course also punishes good shots, which we wouldn't expect from a good golf course, regardless of who designed it.
We were particularly annoyed by the pace of play. We played for almost five hours and had to stop after the 17th hole because it was getting dark. Ahead of us were three flights, each with four young men, who turned the course into a party zone with loud music. No one intervened; no marshal ensured a faster pace or appropriate behavior.
For a golf course that aspires to a high standard, its appearance was absolutely disastrous.
A beautiful course
If you want to enjoy a course with wide expanses, go to Old Corkscrew.. Rarely you get to play a course that is not crowded by houses and instead you get to play amongst the natural landscape of Southwest Florida. Within the last year since played, the greens are now rolling true and the fairways continue to be competitive. The staff is always professional and courteous and even as a guest they make you feel like a member. Kudos to the grounds crew, outside operations, the pro shop, and of course the food and bar staff! Thank you for an unforgettable experience and we look forward to experiencing this all again this Saturday! BBMaybank
Best public course in the area!
The last time I played here was 2 years ago on our annual Florida golf trip. I must say this is a completely different course than what we first experienced. The conditions are absolutely perfect! You hate to see a beautiful layout in such poor shape which is how it was the last time. But now tee to green everything is pristine and the greens roll so true. Can’t wait for our trip next year because this place is now by far my favorite I’ve played in Florida!
this course is a "must play it "
Very well kept course, extremely difficult, completely in mother nature, no houses around like at most courses, very friendly manager pro shop,
some of the traps rather unfair...if you hit the trap the slope is down to the wilderness
Good layout put poor conditions
Staff wa s extremely friendly. Course had a challenging layout but as a foursome we all agreed that we would not play the course again because of the condition of the course, especially the greens. It was not worth the value for the money.
Great Experience!!
My golf group caught a Hot Deal here before our flight back north. What a day! Course is challenging, but really fun. Fairways and greens were in great shape. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun day of golf in the Ft Myers/Estero area. Will definitely be back next time!
As always this time of the year when in Florida, my wife and I had the pleasure of playing a round of Golf at the Old Corkscrew Golf Club in Estero. Once again the experience fully exceeded our expectations, the Course is in impeccable condition and over the last couple of years, small alterations and improvements have added to the professional environment of the course. For us it is our favored course in the South West Florida Region, it is well diversified, quite challenging but always a positive experience when we play it.
The staff always very friendly and Professional which makes the overall environment perfect.
In sum , the Old Corkscrew delivers a premium Golf experience.

Overall Amazing
CANT SPEAK ANY MORE GOOD WORDS
Friendly Staff and Beautiful Course.
Not to mention great playing conditions
Don’t miss playing this course!
I read a lot of mixed reviews before playing this course. I had read the issues with some not in good shape. I could tell you firsthand this course is unbelievably challenging and a lot of fun to play. The greens are in great shape at this time. I’ve played a lot of golf courses from Tampa all the way to Naples. I would recommend this course to anyone that loves a great challenge. It’s definitely one of Jack Nicholas, great designs! Put this one on your list of must play. Can’t wait to play again in the near future. Happy golf and enjoy this great course.
Best public course in southwest florida!
Great track!! What a layout. Played old corkscrew in the past and love it more every time. ! It’s a must play.
Corkscrewed
Hey love this course, its going private soon so get your rounds in!!! Greens can be iffy, but the course is a great layout! Staff rocks
the course layout was brutal with so many blind shots which ended up in water or hazard. kind of stupid.
