Old Corkscrew Golf Club
About
Carved from forests of towering oaks and pines, Old Corkscrew Golf Club exhibits all of the superior characteristics that define Nicklaus Signature courses. The absence of houses around the golf course adds to the secluded and peaceful feel that is provided by the dense thickets of trees that surround it. Jack Nicklaus himself was a prominent presence throughout every phase of the course's construction, incorporating well balanced holes that vary in direction, look, and feel. Proper club selection will be greatly rewarded on this golf course. The fast-paced, undulating greens sit up to 20 feet above the lush, rolling fairways, which can create some tricky pin placements if you're not careful. Old Corkscrew Golf Club's fairways are rather generous, but they are framed by carefully sculpted bunkers. Several large ponds come into play on nearly every hole and there are also numerous sand traps strategically placed along the greensides.

9th Green Photo submitted by jmcbride2013 on 04/21/2013
Old greens and screwed
You never told us the greens were still damaged from Hurricane Milton. Fairways wear not plush as a Jack Nicklaus course should be and the greens were the worst I’ve played on in Southwest Florida. Bare spots, no grass, and little “speed” bumps all over the greens. They are redoing everything next year, but in meantime you got us screwed on Old Corkscrew.
We called you after, you did nothing. It was a waste of time.
Greens
Greens were in horrible shape. To charge that kind of money for the condition they are in is nuts. I love the place fun. But you can’t charge that with these greens
Not the Same
Unfortunately, Old Cork Screw is not what I remember. I have not played it for 3 years. terrible condition through out. Looks like an over played Muni.
Terrible greens
I was shocked how bad the greens were, not worth the money they’re trying to charge. Local muni’s are in better shape. Diasporas I usually enjoy playing here.
Old corkscrew
Unfortunately the course condition were very poor as they apparently had a fungus that attacked the greens and some of the tees. We were not aware of this issue before teeing off which I feel they should have told us.
Everything good except the greens
I would shut this course down and the greens completely re done. No where in their website does it say anything about not being able to put or record a handicap score.
What a shame
I played Old Corkscrew and should have asked for a refund. While the layout, the staff, the pace of play were just fine, the greens were abysmal. 5 greens were totally unplayable. 4 greens were adequate (yet the pace of the greens was miserably slow) and 9 greens were almost acceptable for a muni course.
Before we began the starter stated that one or two greens were in tough shape but by the time we played our 4 hole, we found 4 greens in bad shape. Our entire group wondered how could a course this well maintained from tee to green be saddled with greens with large patches of sand, holes and replaced sod.
As per the advertising at the facility, the course is going to go"private" in 2026. I cannot think of one person I know would join a club with this type of greens.
What a shame.
I feel like I was scammed
What a great course. It’s a shame the staff can’t handle taking care of it. Pro guy said there are about five greens that weren’t up to their standards. We couldn’t even put accurately on them. About 6 of the holes we didn’t allow more than three puts. Looks like they had a fungus problem. I thought after he warned us he might give us some money off our round. No luck there. I should have asked for a refund after I saw the first green. $170 for this course in this condition is an absolute scam!
We thank you for playing Old Corkscrew, and totally understand your frustration. The grounds crew is working hard to fix the fungus issue on those greens. We have lowered our in season rates ($275 normally this time of year) to make it more fair. We understand your frustration and thank you for your patience. We hope to see you soon.
Greens were very bad shape
Seven greens were basically sand, poor conditions on greens due to I believe fungus.
We should have been informed of this.
Thank you for playing Old Corkscrew. We understand your disappointment. Our grounds crew and superintendent are hard at work daily to improve the greens. We have lowered our price (originally $275 this time of year) to make it more fair. We thank you for your patience and hope to see you soon.
Greens were not very good.
Greens looked like a mine field.

Poor greens
The greens are in very poor condition, several greens had tons of sand on them. Making them almost input table. Very disappointing.
Thank you for playing Old Corkscrew. We understand your disappointment. Our grounds crew and superintendent are hard at work daily to improve the greens. Thank you for your patience and we hope to see you soon.
Complete letdown
Stop charging premium rates it you can’t keep premium greens. That was atrocious. Should refund people for that joke of a condition.
Thank you for playing Old Corkscrew. We understand your frustration. We have lowered our rates (originally $275 in peak season) to make it fair. Our grounds grew is hard at work daily to improve the greens. Thank you for your patience and we hope to see you soon.
Old Corkscrew
The greens are burnt out when we showed up the assistant Pro said only six screens were burnt out and it was more like 12 or 13 not worth the money
Thank you for playing our course. We understand your disappointment. Our grounds grew and superintendent are hard at work to improve the greens. Thank you for your patience, and we hope to see you soon.
Terrible greens
Greens are in terrible shape. I'd recommend avoiding this place for at least a few months. Multiple large brown and dead patches. Nearly impossible to make anything outside of 5 feet. Remaining grass on the green is shaggy. Rest of course is in good condition.
Thank you for playing Old Corkscrew. We understand your disappointment. Our grounds crew is working hard daily to improve the greens. We thank you for your patience and hope to see you soon.
Greens are Awful
Headline says it all. Staff said at check-in that 4-5 holes had some dead patches but that they were rolling true. Nonsense. 5-6 greens were largely unplayable b/c of the large dead spots (in some places, covered by sand that one could not put through at all). 3-4 others had more than just occasional blotches. On the worst holes, the greenskeeper had to put pins within 4-5 feet of the edge of the green b/c of the damage. Great, very challenging course, but this is not a playable course at this price. Greens were worse than almost any muni out there. Staff should be honest about this as well. Course age, size of greens and significant crowning of the greens all over the course suggests that these greens are due for a total overhaul and that Old Corkscew should take a year off to do that correctly.
Thank you for playing Old Corkscrew. We understand your frustration. Out ground crew and superintendent are hard at work daily to improve the greens. We have lowered our price ($275 originally this time of year) to make it more fair. We thank you for your patience and hope to see you soon.
Thank you for playing Old Corkscrew. We understand your frustration. Unfortunately we were hit by a fungus on some of our greens last year. Our grounds crew is hard at work to improve the greens. Old Corkscrew will close for a couple of months next year to renovate before going private. In the meantime the crew is hard at work daily to fix the greens. We thank you for your patience and hope to see you soon.
