Old Corkscrew Golf Club
About
Carved from forests of towering oaks and pines, Old Corkscrew Golf Club exhibits all of the superior characteristics that define Nicklaus Signature courses. The absence of houses around the golf course adds to the secluded and peaceful feel that is provided by the dense thickets of trees that surround it. Jack Nicklaus himself was a prominent presence throughout every phase of the course's construction, incorporating well balanced holes that vary in direction, look, and feel. Proper club selection will be greatly rewarded on this golf course. The fast-paced, undulating greens sit up to 20 feet above the lush, rolling fairways, which can create some tricky pin placements if you're not careful. Old Corkscrew Golf Club's fairways are rather generous, but they are framed by carefully sculpted bunkers. Several large ponds come into play on nearly every hole and there are also numerous sand traps strategically placed along the greensides.

Wide Fairways
Although there are waste-like areas throughout the course there is very little of what I would term "rough". Fairways are wide and then there is a second cut then the waste areas. If you're hitting relatively straight, you'll almost always have a good lie for your next shot.
Greens Not Good
Played Old Corkscrew multiple times over the years and the greens were the worst they have ever been. A third of the greens were almost unplayable. Some sort of a disease or course management issue. Some of the greens had patchwork repairs and areas of no grass. What was frustrating, I called prior to booking and asked when they were aerrified and what condition they were. Was told they were aerified but it great condition. I beg to differ. Not worth $97.50 to play. If the greens are in bad shape discount the price or close the course and fix them. I would be okay if I only paid $45, the true value. We won't be back until the greens are in a acceptable playing condition.
Great place
When you come in to play golf on this course, be prepared to leave it all out there. Your ball striking, your putting, and even your eyesight is going to be tested by the beauty and layout of of course. A couple of greens with a little bit of issues, but nothing major overall. I 100% enjoyed playing in this golf course.
Challenging, Scenic course is a “must play” in Fort Myers
Beautiful property and a staff that enhances the experience. This course is true to golf in more aspects then just the game. The greens and course was under some maintenance but was still very playable. We will be back to try conquering again. Thanks Old Corkscrew and thanks to the Hoffman Family for all the wonderful things you bring to SWFL.
Jack's spot!!
Loved the layout, very challenging and beautiful. Played the day of a sfpga tournament, which was awesome. Did not try the food, other than the best hotdog I have personally ever had. This course is a must see and the hot dog a must on the turn!!
Just finished course maintenance
Played day after they finished course maintenance, but course played well, they are working on the greens
Great Nicklaus Course. Conditions could be better.
Great course and great layout. Also very good staff. Always welcoming. Greens need much attention. Many bunkers need literally tons of sand added each as some are unplayable. If you get a good score at this difficult layout, it's a real accomplishment.
Give it some time
This course is in pitiful shape. The greens are unplayable and the course should be shut
For a period of time until the greens return. Old Corkscrew was an unbelievable course at one time but no longer. Don’t waste your money.
Incredible course
Such an incredible course worth every penny. Unfortunately the greens were sanded which I came to understand is common this time of year. If it weren’t for sanded greens it is 100% a must play course. I will for sure be back.
a must do!
It`s all in one: challenge, scenery, jungle, wildlife, layout, welcoming, history, best fairways I`ve played in this area - can`t wait to come back!
Wow!
Used to be my favorite course, great track. Hard but great track. But, must be under new management/ownership or something as it’s a 180 degree difference compared to previous years. Not 1 single redeeming quality……other than the starter.
Too bad, as great track ruined. Horrible conditions, horrible pace, horrible people.
Excellent Course!
I love this course! Unlike so many other courses in the area that are in neighborhoods, this beautiful course is set in nature. No homes, just trees, water and nature! The course condition is excellent for the summer. Due to a ton of rain, it was wet, but its Florida. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended!
Hot July Day
Course was in pretty good condition. The greens were pretty bumpy. My expectations were a little higher.
Great course
Great course. Good challenge for all golfers. Course Was in great shape.
Great layout
The layout is great. Greens are in great condition. It’s a swamp though. Has had lots of rain. Pace of play was extremely slow & it was NOT cart path only. We were on a 5 hour pace. Waited EVERY shot and sometimes up to 15 minutes. It took over 3 hours to play 12 holes. No rangers to monitor pace of play. Quit with 4 holes to play & it had already been over 4 hours.
Disappointed
Since last playing the course, it has gone down hill, in every way.
