Lake Presidential Golf Club
About
Lake Presidential Golf Club is one of Maryland's most popular public courses. It is a challenging championship layout that is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels. It stands out from run-of-the-mill municipal courses with exceptional conditions from the tees to the greens. The layout offers a diverse mix of holes that will have golfers using every club in their bag. There are some especially interesting par 3s that are visible but with enough hazards to make them a challenge. Houses border the front nine holes but they are absent on the back nine. The fairways on the last nine holes are densely lined with mature trees. The golf course finishes with an enjoyable par 5 that plays over a lake. It can be reached in two with a little skill and accuracy.

Always in good shape!! Slow pace but a good day. Really wish they would put some money and effort into making this course all that it could be. Simple things like ball washers and trash cans missing from the entire course. A fake fox or two to keep goose poop off the tee boxes and greens would be nice too. A real bar/clubhouse area to kick your feet up and enjoy a post round drink and this course could be one of the best in the area
A Round at Lake Presidential
Tee time at 10:48. Arrived at 10am with hope of warming up at the range. Found out that the range is closed every Tuesday morning. As a visitor from California, I wanted to reacquaint myself with my old golf set left with my son here in Upper Marlboro. The morning closure of the range was an added twist to the start of my round. Beyond that, the gentleman I paired with for the round was an excellent playing partner and we connected as if we had known each other for a while. The course is challenging but fair. I struggled through the first five holes but managed to salvage a score of 85.
very poor
If I want to spend 7 hrs at a course again, it won't be this one
same old issues
the course was in good condition. love the challenge.
the staff doesn’t care enough about the customer at all. starter has never been able to manage get off the first tee on time and then the round was over 5 hours as usual.
Horrible management
Showed up 30 minutes before tee time and was asked if we still wanted to play due to 30 min backup. Ended up playing 12 holes in 4 hours. I’ve never been more frustrated on a course in my entire life. Place has a nice layout and the management is just making this place awful. Don’t get how a course can be this poor managed. Don’t play here, save your money.
Slowest round ever.
I can’t imagine a place that hates their customers more. 3.5 hours to play NINE HOLES. And they just say - “this what happens when you have 320 golfers in a day” - yeah, that’s not on the golfers, that’s on management. We waited behind 3 groups on almost every tee. Avoid at all costs.
TERRIBLE Pace and RUDE STAFF/GM
This might have been my worst golf experience. I waited 15 minutes just to get a cart, and got it with attitude. Then the pace of play was the slowest I’ve ever played. It would have taken 7-8 hours to play 18. There was no water on the course, no marshal, and players blasting music. Every single hole required at least 10 minutes wait time.
The COURSE WAS OVERBOOKED! It took SO LONG We HAD TO QUIT. And the GM - Adam N. - was completely unprofessional and rude in trying to resolve our dissatisfaction - he said “I’m the GM and I make the rules”.
I played with my elderly parents and could not endure a 7 hour 18-hole round so we stopped. I came from out of town and my parents don’t live close. The GM only wanted to give a raincheck and not a partial refund for holes not played.
I came back in after requesting the refund only to see the GM and two other employees mocking me for even asking.
Their GM seems content on overbooking and understaffing his course, letting customers leave extremely unhappy (see other comments), and happy with a 7-hour long round of golf.
Bad pace of play / rude staff
Six hour golf, round, and a rude staff. Don’t just take my word for it. Look at all the negative reviews across Google and other platforms.
Great Course and Membership
Loved the course, in great shape, can’t beat their player development membership
Overall, the course was in good shape and the layout makes it a fun course. Tee boxes could use some work and if the greens had some TLC they would be pristine. My biggest complaint would be no water jugs on the course to fill up a personal water bottle. Luckily, it wasn’t too hot, but would have been nice to not have to wait till the turn.
Great Saturday morning find
Arrived a bit late with some time to practice. Range was good. For price of greens fee the bucket of balls should have been complimentary.
Layout of course is exceptionally and course conditions were superb.
We got lined up with two D1 football players from Maine and had great time.
Will definitely play this course again on one of my next trips to the MD area.
