Horrible Conditions
Very disappointing gold course. The staff at gold shop were friendly. However, the course is in atrocious condition. The greens are hairy/long, slow and have fungus everywhere. The sand traps are horrible kept and manicured. The fairways are in poor condition and the tee boxes are a joke. Local public courses including Hains Point/East Potomac park are in much better shape. Fort Belvoir and Quantico are in much better condition for other military course options. It is hard to call this an acceptable golf course. DO NOT spend the money or waste the time.
Displeased
Forty four years I have been playing the Courses at Andrews . Never have I seen the courses as bad as now. I have always brought guess, not anymore.
Don’t play until at least October
Most greens were burned out And tee boxes were in horrible condition. Sand traps were unplayable. Course seems to have fallen from being one of the better public courses in PG County. Hopefully it will rebound..
Greens were bombed out
Course does not drain well. There had been some hard rain but the course had standing water in most of the fairways and hte bunkers had mostly water. Greens were either mud or carpet like grass.
Terrible Greens/Rough Fairways
Greens are in terrible shape, a mixture between soggy and barren dirt. The fairways need some attention as well. Crab grass is popping up everywhere. Tee boxes are similarly neglected.
Carts are gas powered and do not start reliably. Hardly worth the $22.00 for 9 holes.
While the course appears to be good value for the money, the combination of poor course conditions, high cost of carts, and pace of play make this a "must miss" course.
DEEP DECLINE
The South Course at Andrews used to be its flagship course-NOT ANYMORE. First off, the course was soaked due to recent rains and cart path only-all of that is understandable. However, as a former member (too many outings/perennial slow play issues) I can tell you this course used to be great. I heard the old greenskeeper retired and it is painfully obvious-the new guy is not getting it done whatsoever. The manager of this facility is a professional yes man and the highest paid (NAF-non-appropriated funds) employee in the Air Force so I can't for the life of me understand why this is happening.
They seem to have a fleet of employees around the pro shop doing very little because even the carts were filthy-to the point where they had mold on the interior roof. I can only assume that conditions are going way down because Obama is out of office and Trump has his own courses to play at.
Decieved
I was drawn to this course because like others I was looking forward to a great 4 to 5 star course. Unfortunately this was one of the few times I truly disappointed. It was being billed as a 4 star but shouldn't be more than a 2. Fairways were horrible, Not maintained hardly at all with debris kinda all over the course. Greens were just okay. Service starting in the clubhouse was very mediocre. Felt like your basic public city course where they are going through the motion of collecting green fees and letting people play. Wouldn't return at this point. Really expected more.
West course
Asked the starter what course would be best for "mediocre" players, he switched us from east to west. Not very challenging - one dog leg right...fairways were in bad shape...very hard to find the ball with how brown the grass was. will go back, bet it's nicer when the grass is green. loved the range balls were included, they had new mats but no tees in them to drive.
False tee time posting
Booked south course and when checked in, starter started on west course saying south course was having tournament.
Need refund from golf now or from the course management. West course is terrible condition it's not worth for playing even for free.
Should be called Country Club at Andrews
For Golfnow users and the public that haven't played Andrews you will be in for pleasant surprise. They offer 3 different courses and great off course amenities (free driving range balls, chipping and putting practice area) 19th hole restaurant and bar. Course is in excellent shape. Playing this 60.00 course for 36.00 hot deal is a steal. Since this is a military base you have to provide the office information (driver lic. registration, insurance) to gain entry. Regardless put this on your short bucket list for local golf.
Great course and layout
(East Course) Great long course, great hot deal price! some of the par 4's were as long as some par 5's on some courses I've played. Couldn't beat the experience for 75 degrees in November and the hot deal price. Some back nine holes have beautiful views of the runway and look completely different from front nine.
Nice course, very friendly to all golfers/ fairways pretty straight. Good course to just work on your game/ length ok. Greens are nice sized to approach shots. Draw back / players are not repairing ball marks and must be reminded before play. Although the grass on the greens was surprisingly well kept ,a lot of foot traffic 15 feet into the cup made putts not travel true. Message to grounds crew / just roll the greens ! How hard is that ? And tee boxes needed attention also. People were friendly and the pro shop was real nice. Complimentary range balls to warm up was an unexpected surprise and a big draw to make golfers feel welcome. Look forward to coming back............. Roll those greens!
Andrews AFB South Course
Andrews has 3 18 hole course, the south course is the newest course is the newest of the 3. It is in great shape the greens were extremely soft due to heavy rain that we had a few days prior to the day I played. If you have not played the south course I recommend that you put this on you short list. I plan to play this course again with a few of my golf buddy's very soon.

A country club environment
Glad that the courses on Andrews Air Force Base is now available on Golf now. It's like playing at a upscale country club, great shape, all of the amenities you could expect and much more. I was in awe of the condition and facility. They have three 18 hole courses. Put this course on your short list to play. They even have a eating/bar area called the 19th hole and a local beer made especially for the golf course 19th. I'm impressed. Could easily see myself as a member. Kudos to the staff. After you make a tee time you, have to furnish info. to gain access to the Base.
