About
Lake Presidential Golf Club is one of Maryland's most popular public courses. It is a challenging championship layout that is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels. It stands out from run-of-the-mill municipal courses with exceptional conditions from the tees to the greens. The layout offers a diverse mix of holes that will have golfers using every club in their bag. There are some especially interesting par 3s that are visible but with enough hazards to make them a challenge. Houses border the front nine holes but they are absent on the back nine. The fairways on the last nine holes are densely lined with mature trees. The golf course finishes with an enjoyable par 5 that plays over a lake. It can be reached in two with a little skill and accuracy.

Golfer Reviews
5 holes in 2 hours started at 8am
If you insists on packing the tee sheet than you better have a Marshall pushing groups on the course. There is no excuse for 5 holes in 2 hours. Didn’t see the cart girl once in that time. I don’t even need to mention conditions…. Can’t comment since I mostly stood around on tee boxes. Awful, won’t go back and don’t recommended it.
Love this place.
Best course in the area. Hands down. Love the layout. 15 is doozy.
No Water Coolers
The course was in excellent condition and was very challenging from the tips but was a great round. The only negative is that there were no water coolers on the course. It is summer and getting very hot. It is dangerous to have no water available and only one cart girl driving around when it is 95 degrees outside. I understand that this was likely a covid protocol but it is time for that to be done away with.
Pace of play brutal, greens subpar
Layout here is superb, but the greens were in bad shape, especially for early in the season. Maybe if people would start repairing ballmarks they’d be in better shape. Tee boxes are also cruddy. This is a $70 course, not $95. If you can get past the greens, it is a cool course.
Nice course but slow a single in front teaching a new player to play from the blues should've done that on the driving range and shouldn't be playing from the blues..at his skill and age....a Marshall would of helped there..just a thought.
Not as well maintained as last year
Seems like there has been a pullback on investment in the course this year, which is odd as most other courses seem to be investing more into their courses given uptick in demand for golf recently.
The greens were inconsistent from hole to hole and the fairways and tee boxes were patchy.
Nice layout, but terribly run course
Overall, a poorly managed course that has obviously just turned into a cash grab instead of first focusing on providing a great playing experience.
First of all, we had issues with cancelling 2 of our group due to COVID when it was obvious they could easily fill the spots and not lose out on money. 2 of us decided to still play since we were getting charged anyway. Secondly, upon arrival at the pro shop we were informed the greens were aerated and offered a $25 voucher. They were basically unplayable. I don't mind so much if given prior notice, but nothing was said on their website or on Golfnow. For some golfers, this could easily ruin their enjoyment and they might not play, but LP wait until you are fully committed to tell you just in case they don't fill their tee times.
The biggest issues then started on the course (we were obviously paired with another 2). Pace of play was just ok for the first 4 holes, then pretty much came to a stop. On the 6th fairway, there was a group ahead on the green, and then 4 whole groups waiting to tee off on the 7th. The marshal mentioned it was down to the 9 min tee times, people playing off the wrong tees, and people stopping at the turn to stock up on drinks. He failed to act on anything and just said that's the way it is, as if a 6hr round should be normal. After finishing the 7th hole almost 3 hours into our round we decided to call it quits. A complete joke of an experience.
The layout of the course has so much potential, but 9 min tee times do not work. Extending to 11 or 12 mins might be a start, and encouraging some action from the marshals might improve pace of play and make this place actually playable again. I won't be coming out on a weekend here again any time soon.
Overbooked
6 hours to play a round of 18 here. Three 4somes on a hole when you pull up. Completely overbooked. No marshals in sight to try and speed up play. Greens punched in May, tee boxes in bad shape. Yet to have a pleasant experience here.
Sandy Greens, Dishonest Staff
I reserved a tee time for myself and three colleagues on 04/23/2022. As healthcare workers it is difficult for us to find time to get together and enjoy a round, and unfortunately this day one member of the group had a family conflict arise while another was called to duty, leaving two of us able to play. Given the late cancelation policy I arrived as early as I was able hours ahead of pur tee time and notified the pro shop of the change. We also requested use of the second cart which was included in the reservation/fee for 4 people. We were told that we would only be allowed one cart and that given our circumstances we would just be allowed to switch to a twosome. The course itself was okay, though around half of the greens were indistinguishable from the surrounding sand traps, making for an interesting short game.
The week following our round I received an email from GolfNow through whom I made the reservation that the course had instructed them to collect a no-show fee for the two members of my party who had been unable to come! I called GolfNow and they spoke with someone at the course who insisted on charging the fee. While I certainly understand the need for such fees, I do not appreciate the dishonesty, and in the least I would have liked to have use of the second cart if I was going to be charged for it all along! I do not plan on playing here again.
