Lake Presidential Golf Club
About
Lake Presidential Golf Club is one of Maryland's most popular public courses. It is a challenging championship layout that is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels. It stands out from run-of-the-mill municipal courses with exceptional conditions from the tees to the greens. The layout offers a diverse mix of holes that will have golfers using every club in their bag. There are some especially interesting par 3s that are visible but with enough hazards to make them a challenge. Houses border the front nine holes but they are absent on the back nine. The fairways on the last nine holes are densely lined with mature trees. The golf course finishes with an enjoyable par 5 that plays over a lake. It can be reached in two with a little skill and accuracy.

Need Your "A" game
Course starts out with 4 fairly easy holes then punishes you on holes 5-8 and 9 if u do not carry the water. A little more friendly on the back nine except for the approaches on 11, 13 and 15. Definitely need your A game here.
Very nice golf course.
Requires some local knowledge to get the most out of your round.
Full of gimmicks
I was very excited about this course. The flyover feature on the website gave me a great impression of what was to come with my round.
While the course was in relatively good shape (fairways and green had a ton of unfixed divots) it was simply not fun to play. There were a remarkable number of blind shots and holes that were not reachable even after a good drive. Combined with at least 6 extremely guarded pins, even a good ball striking day would not have lead to a good score.
The best example of this was the Par 4 5th. This was 420 yard par 4 that plays as a 90 degree angle of a dog leg left. To reach the green in 2 one would have to hit a 300 yard tee shot to the right side of fairway that actually slopes to the LEFT! What is the point of a hole like that.
I am happy I checked it out and I might have enjoyed it more if I played better, but I really did not love the layout. I will not be returning.
This course is just fantastic, albeit very challenging. We played this course from the Blues and it is long with really well-protected greens.
The course is always in great shape and I love to make a long drive to play here.
Really friendly staff too.
Great course
I played here for the first time last year. I’ve heard that Lake Presidential used to be a nice course. So in the nicest way possible, the course layout was nice and challenging, but the condition was bad. Patchy roughs, shriveled up fairway, and greens weren’t in the most favorable condition either. I played there again for the 2nd time yesterday after hearing from a buddy of mine that the condition of the course had been revamped and back in good condition. After playing there yesterday, I can attest that the course is freakin AWESOME! The greens, fairways, roughs, everything was in great condition. Would definitely recommend this course to a friend.
Great course
Great course couldn’t figure out green speeds due to the greens being really long think they were prepping for a tournament
Getting Better
Nice to play this course when it is firmer than previous rounds when it is usually saturated. Greens were inconsistent in speed but they were better than prior rounds. A constant issue is that players do not fix divots in the fairways and ball marks on the greens. In certain collection areas near the greens, there were many land mine size divots. Figure this out and this course would definitely move up the ladder. It is getting better. Received good deal on Golf Now otherwise would not pay the price.
2nd time and even better
Course is in great shape, challenging greens with subtle and not so subtle breaks, friendly staff. If you have never played here use their app as not everything is visible from the tee and it works great on the course as your guide.
Tougher course, but beautiful and well taken care of
Within a community, yet you don't see any houses besides on the first hole or so. Fairways are pretty tight on a few which adds to the toughness. It doesn't have lake in it's name for no reason - lots of water / danger zones on your first shot. Really a beautifully designed course, but not necessarily for a beginner (30+ handicap)
A great mix of c holes
Lake Presidential is a terrific golf course. It has a great mix of hills, blind shots, ravines and lakes. It was in good condition but the greens were slow and bumpy but it there was a steady rain the previous 2 days.
Beautiful Course
Course was in great shape from tee to greens and staff was great as well.
Lake Pres review 5.27.21
Only issue is soft fairways. No rollout on tee shots. Make sure you play appropriate tee box (forward one box).
