About
Lake Presidential Golf Club is one of Maryland's most popular public courses. It is a challenging championship layout that is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels. It stands out from run-of-the-mill municipal courses with exceptional conditions from the tees to the greens. The layout offers a diverse mix of holes that will have golfers using every club in their bag. There are some especially interesting par 3s that are visible but with enough hazards to make them a challenge. Houses border the front nine holes but they are absent on the back nine. The fairways on the last nine holes are densely lined with mature trees. The golf course finishes with an enjoyable par 5 that plays over a lake. It can be reached in two with a little skill and accuracy.

Golfer Reviews
Needs some love
Slow Friday afternoon. No marshal. Greens a disaster. Need to explain how ball marks damage greens and give out free divot repair tools. Love this layout - they just can’t get it all together. Played on a hot deal - so fair value - but NO WAY - should anyone pay the premium prices or come to expect high end golf conditions.
Bad course conditions for the money
I had a Hot deal for $57.00 and the regular price is $105.00. $57.00 was too expensive for this course. There were a lot of repairs being made to Tee boxes. The greens were aerated several weeks ago and the were still in rough shape. Hairy greens. Some of the fairways were as long as the rough. The Tee boxes were pushed all the way forward and were so worn out that you could not get grip on the sandy TEE box. The cups on the greens look like they have not been moved in weeks. The grass was burnt up around the cup edges and the edges were very rough looking. I am not frustrated that they were working on the course. I am frustrated that the conditions and the price do not match. This condition is as tops a $40.00 course and they are charging $105.00. I could play in better conditions at the local municipal golf course for $40-$50.
Fun layout, not in great shape
Unfortunately greens had just been aerated,, course was not in great shape. Since it’s close to the end of the season I guess it could look better in the Spring. Fun layout, definitely helps to have played here before or ply with someone that can tell you the angles and what lays ahead for the blind shots. 18th hole & 9th hole are memorable and fun.
Stressed from heat?
Earlier in the year course was in great shape but suffering from the summer heat. greens aerated a week ago and will need another week at least to be healed.
Poor course condition!
We usually love playing at Lake Presidential even if it is a little pricey at times.
The course was in awful condition this time. the tee boxes were all chewed up, the fairway had huge divots everywhere, and the greens looked like they were just aerated.
It just looked like the course hadn't had any upkeep in weeks.
Ok course. But terrible pace of play
Course condition was ok but the tee times were scheduled 5 minutes apart. For foursomes that just can’t work. On a weekend. So waiting every hole. Teed off at 7am and finished at 1145.
Not worth the price tag
Aerated greens with NO warning! Asked the starter were the greens aerated like the practice green and he said no...well, all 18 were aerated and bumpy!! We were like the 7th or 8th group out and it took us over 5 hours, playing a 3some and then a twosome and waited every hole!!
Not the price tag!
Tee time early was available, but they'd aerated(undisclosed)...
Course layout is good. The fairways were beat with many unfilled divots. Greens were pretty quick but had been aerated Monday and Tuesday, we found out at the check-in where the gave everyone a $25 gift card. Still at $75/ 18 holes the course isn't worth the charge. The green surrounds and fairways were wet, more wet than they should be and the high spots are baked out and parched. The weeding and trimming at the edges could use some work and the fairways had fungus and dead patches throughout the 18 holes. Nice design, but disappointed in the lack of aeration disclosure of golf now and tee boxes which are in need of serious help.
Too Slow, Too Beat Up, Too Expensive
I figured it can’t be as slow as people say, we only see the bad reviews… Round took 5.5 hours with no stop on the turn after delaying the tee time 10 mins to wait for a cart to free up. Starter did nothing despite call to clubhouse on 11. Greens can’t hold up against the golfers that don’t repair their ball marks, tee boxes beat up, some bunkers unplayable. This course has the bones of an absolute gem, but I have no interest in playing it again.
Poor Condition
Lots of bare spots in the fairways. Lots of large brown spots in the rough as well.
Not worth the money
The course layout is nice, the course condition not so much. The pace of play was also brutally slow (5.5 hours). I’ll be back again, hopefully things will be in better shape and marshals out to regulate pace of play
This course as is is not worth the greens fees that are being charged.
Dogtracks are offended by the comparison
Conditions were complete garbage. Grass is struggling everywhere. Bunkers haven't seen attention in weeks. Greens were in bad shape before being obliterated by pitch marks. Very slow greens, except for the two healthier ones. Cups looked like they were cut a month ago. Rock Creek in DC is the only course I can think of with comparably bad conditions. At least Rock Creek doesn't think such trash is worth $100 to experience.
Staff seemed stretched thin with many people worried about giving folks carts "too early" when people asked to load up 20 minutes prior to their tee time. No marshal or starter. Teed of 15 minutes late because the pro shop didn't have their act together. We were backed up with 3 groups on the tee by hole 4. Finally finished 9 in 2:50. Back 9 moved a bit faster after multiple people gave up on their round. Total time: 5 hours. Funny what not having a marshal or starter can do...
This was unquestionably the most disappointing round of my year. I hope my friends never ask me to return. I won't pay for this mistake experience again.
