About
Lake Presidential Golf Club is one of Maryland's most popular public courses. It is a challenging championship layout that is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels. It stands out from run-of-the-mill municipal courses with exceptional conditions from the tees to the greens. The layout offers a diverse mix of holes that will have golfers using every club in their bag. There are some especially interesting par 3s that are visible but with enough hazards to make them a challenge. Houses border the front nine holes but they are absent on the back nine. The fairways on the last nine holes are densely lined with mature trees. The golf course finishes with an enjoyable par 5 that plays over a lake. It can be reached in two with a little skill and accuracy.

Golfer Reviews
Nice course but....
I always thought Lake Presidential as a nice well maintain course. And I still do. However, the play was extremely slow. Waiting minimum 5 minutes on each hole. The landscaping maintenance people did not care at all that you were on the course. I had to move my ball due to them being right in line with my shot. It did not phase them. They were extremely noisy at a few holes.
Lastly 2 hot dogs with chips and small soda was $26 without tip. That is just crazy. Nice course, I doubt if I will return. It was not a pleasant experience.
Loving This Course!
One of my new favorite DMV courses. Love the practice facilities, the course layout is really good. Challenging, but fair. Have to drive the ball well.
This course was nice but the bugs are out of control
The course was awesome and beautiful, my problem was the bugs they almost ate me alive, I normally drink beer and smoke cigars while playing, this is how I enjoy my rounds. I didn’t light one cigar and only drink half a beer because the bugs were eating me alive. Only played 5 holes couldn’t take it no more. Some of the staff talked about how the bugs get really bad. It was so bad I called pro shop from course after starting my round for bug spray, and they didn’t have or sell which is unlikely. The person at pro shop sent marshal to me with a bottle they randomly had and it only had 3 squats left. I give respect to pro shop guy for trying to help. Left after 5 holes couldn’t take it it was extremely bad, one of the worse things I’ve ever experienced
Not bad…
This is my fist time playing Lake Pres in a couple of years. The conditions are markedly improved over their worst level, but still aren’t back to their peak. The greens were fluffy and slow, littered with unfixed ball marks, but mostly uniform. They were very soft and receptive , which made approach shots easier. The fairways and rough still had many bare or wild patches and were absolutely soaked from the rain the night before. And the tee boxes were quite chewed up and many were difficult to find level spots to tee off from. I played in the early morning slot for about $40, which is the most I’d pay for a course in these conditions. I love the layout - lots of challenging par 4’s, exciting shots over water, and elevation changes. But until the conditions can match the price, I’ll play elsewhere.
What happened to this course?
A couple of years ago this course was pristine and rangers kept the pace going. Right now the greens are an absolute mess, not just because players aren't fixing their ball marks but the course management isn't doing so either. On #8 there was a huge ball mark going the other way, apparently someone was firing off full shots from across the lake in their free time. It leaves almost no consistency in the speed of any green, and your ball bumps around as it rolls.
Rangers weren't out on the course keeping things moving. The group in front of us was playing with 5 guys somehow, but we couldn't tell if they were waiting on anyone in front of them. Once we got the ranger to check and we played through, there was absolutely no one in front of them. Front was 2h 40m, back was 1h 30m.
It's still a challenging and fun layout, and fortunately their twilight starts at 1pm, so we only played $59. But I'd rather play Enterprise for that price for the greens alone.
Nice course...sometimes
I played a month ago and conditions were top notch. Today the greens were atrocious with tons of ball marks left unrepaired. White tee boxes were beat up and mostly sand with little grass on some.
Mediocre
It’s not worth 60 bucks or even 40, greens and fairways have more divots than i’ve ever seen. For the land it’s on and the appearance of the clubhouse it should be a million times better. And It’s like the maintenance crew likes getting in peoples way. They just ride around causing noise. Get a competent maintenance crew and this can be a top course. Pretty disappointed TBH.
Lake Presidential
Hadn’t played this course in years. Very nice layout. White tee boxes were very chewed up, and many scuff and ball marks on all greens.
No Complaints Here
caught a good deal thru golfnow and head out to to the course .. it’s same as usual … nice* nice* nice .. anyone reading this, head over there and play .. you’ll be pleased
decent golf outing
Very good layout. Lights of unrepaired divots in fairways and tees. The cart had no sand so we couldn't fill our divots. No ball washers or water stations on course-- this is ridiculous. Especially considering it is summer. I would only play here if I got the discount. Course isn't worth the " regular " price considering all I mentioned above. Tons, I mean tons of ball marks on greens also. Although I blame the golfers for not repairing ball marks on greens .
Very friendly staff
Only OK
After years of hearing golfers rave about this course, I was disappointed. Course has clearly seen better days. Fairways were chopped up, tee boxes in poor shape. Maintenance workers everywhere, interrupting play, vehicles on the greens. I could go on, but I won't.
Greens
Greens were pretty bad, many greens had divots not repaired.
A perfect round is ruined
Condition is fair, some tee boxes have no grass, there are many unfixed divots on the fairways and ball marks on many greens.. Used to play this course very often. However, have not played it for about 2 years because last time I played, staff was rude and highly unprofessional. All staff is new now, but still don't know what they are doing (see below) and there was no marshal to keep the play moving. Today they started on #10, first 9 were great, but all of a sudden a threesome started pushing me hard on hole #1 (for me #10). I had no choice but ask them to join me on hole #3 (12 for me), but tranquility, fun and concentration were all gone. The current staff don't know what they are doing or the course was double booked. No matter which one is true, I'm not going to play this course ever again and will not recommend it to anyone.
