Lake Presidential Golf Club

Pace of play is egregiously slow. Had to call it after the 3 hour and 20 minute front 9. 9:45am tee time Saturday morning and we couldn’t tee off until 10. Did not see a singe marshal on the course. It’s a shame because the course is in nice shape. Management needs a reality check.

Booked a tee time at Lake Presidential the night before playing and didn’t have any expectations going in. But even if I had the highest of expectations I still would’ve had them blown out of the water. The course was in impeccable condition, especially the greens. HIGHLY recommended.

Greens were in excellent condition. In great shape.

5hr 30 min pace of play. Tee sheet stacked and they’re already 30 min behind by 10am. Starter running the tee sheet didn’t know what he was doing tee shirt backwards hat. Obviously didn’t care about his job. Restaurant staff at the turn seemed like he was shocked we were picking up food that was pre-ordered. Driving range is nice for having grass tees but the conditions of everything else about it is trash. No water coolers on the course at all forcing you to buy from the cart girl. Cart girl was on point. Saw her multiple times. Super friendly and understood how the game of golf works by never getting in the way and remained quiet while people were hitting. . Some good holes and some bad holes. Playing there is always on my list because it is usually in decent shape for a public course but some holes are less than desirable.

I’ve played here often and I’m never bored of it. It’s always a challenge. Here’s the Pro’s and Con’s:

Pro’s- overall good condition, friendly staff, nice greens, challenging

Con’s- this is not a good course for high handicappers (over 25). There’s very few flat lies. Because of that, pace can be slow especially for the weekend player. If you can’t break 100 then you’ll be frustrated. For some unknown reason, very few customers fix their ball marks. Way too many players start at the tips.

Advice- don’t start at the tips your first round here. Get to know the layout. Ball placement is critical. The greens can be tricky, follow the grain. Be patient, take your medicine, bring extra balls. Holes #5 , 6, 7, 8, are tough. Bogie is your friend on that stretch. Hole #17 is a reachable par 4 but the risk isn’t worth the reward.

Overall, the course was very well maintained. Greens were slow in the afternoon but that was probably because it was wet. Fairways were very nice. Guy at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. Lots of unrepaired ball marks but I think that is fairly normal these days.

My only frustration was that a 6-some jumped in front of us on 10. Not sure why they would even allow a 6-some on the course or why they would start on 10 when groups were coming through. We played through them eventually but it was a bit annoying.

Played this course a thousand times..during the week, it’s great but there is no structure on the weekends. 8:24 tee time, didn’t tee off until 9 because of the back up and the round took 6 hours. First time I’ve ever seen a Marshall and he said it was a group a few holes ahead that was causing the back up, but it felt a lot like a waiter saying the kitchen lost your ticket, when in reality, they forgot to ring in your order.

Course is in excellent condition and the layout is a lot of fun but the pace is the worst I’ve ever seen. Had a 7:48a tee time and was told there were 5 groups ahead of us. Ended up not getting off the box until 8:25. Putting on the practice green I ended up finding out that they only leave 3 minutes in between tee times on the weekends. We told the guy in the pro shop that there was a 3 group back up at the turn and he just barked “there’s a ranger out”. Eventually saw him on 14 where he told us he tried hurrying up the group in front of us, but after 5 hours, what’s the difference? Finished on 18 after 2:00 so almost a 6 hour round. Make sure your entire day is free if you wanna play here.

Great conditions little slow for as open as it was but that's mainly bc of cart path restricted areas ..Food was not that good and half smoke and Gatorade $14 to much for below average food
